For the last few years, the Critics Choice Awards have honored a woman with their SeeHer Award, named after the collective that supports accurate portrayals of women and girls in content. According to Billboard, the award is typically presented to an advocate of gender equality who “portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes and pushes boundaries.” This year, it will go to Janelle Monáe.
Come Sunday, January 15, the singer/actress will join a list of previous recipients, including Viola Davis,Halle Berry, Gal Gadot and Claire Foy. Monáe, Zendaya and Kristen Bell are the only recipients known as both actresses and musicians.
The Critics Choice Awards will broadcast live on The CW at 7 p.m. ET. Chelsea Handler will host the show.
Bullet for My Valentine has premiered the video for “No More Tears to Cry,” a song included on the deluxe version of the band’s 2021 self-titled album.
The clip centers on a character haunted by strange visions of mechanical spiders and creepy holograms, all while the Welsh metallers deliver a blistering performance. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.
The deluxe edition of Bullet for My Valentine dropped in August and includes five bonus tracks. The original album spawned the singles “Rainbow Veins” and “Knives.”
Bullet will kick off 2023 with a tour of Europe. They’ll be back in the U.S. in May to play Florida’s Welcome to Rockville.
In one excerpt from the interview, John tells host Alex Cooper, “It’s really scary to come off of that loop, when you’re in a news cycle, news cycle, news cycle.” In another, Cooper asks, “How did you make that decision?” To which he replies, “It was made for me. By my actions.”
In yet another excerpt, Cooper tells John, “You f**ked up in your 20s.” He responds, “A lot of the s**t that I did in my 20s was an attempt to reset the misunderstanding and I made it worse.”
It’s not clear which misunderstanding he’s referring to, but he adds, “In those moments, I would have traded every song I was going write to stop this feeling. No doubt about it … I would’ve said, ‘Take all the songs I’ll ever write — just stop this feeling from happening right now!'”
Of course, all these excerpts are taken out of context, so it’s impossible to know what John is talking about, but Taylor Swift fans — who are apparently still upset that John allegedly dated Taylor when she was 19 and he was 32 — have flooded the comments section.
“When Taylor said speak now, she didn’t mean you,” one wrote. Another wrote “‘Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve‘ on repeat Wednesday” — referring to a Taylor song that fans think is about how she regrets dating John. Yet another fan wrote, “If he doesn’t publicly apologize, we riot at dawn.”
A few others pushed back, with one writing, “She made a decision to date him as an adult that she regrets. Big whoop. She needs to move TF on.”

Billboard posed that very question to Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, and while we would’ve guessed they’d suggest “Best Mean Girls Reference,” they had another idea: Best Lo-Fi Recording.
“Our track ‘Angelica’ was recorded on the Isle of Wight in our living room on a laptop with just a few mics,” the group explains. “It would be great to have a category that highlights other artists who are making music in this way despite not having access to many resources.”
While they wait for Best Lo-Fi Recording to become a new category, Wet Leg will have to be satisfied with their multiple Grammy noms for 2023. Along with the nod for Best Alternative Music Performance prize, Wet Leg will also compete for Best New Artist. Their self-titled debut album is up for Best Alternative Music Album.
Some big-name rock stars came out in Las Vegas Monday to help magician Criss Angel celebrate his 55th birthday — and it was all for a good cause.
Blabbermouth reports that KISS’ Paul Stanley, Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander and Skid Row’s SebastianBach played the bash at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay, along with Lita Ford, Kip Winger, RATT’s Stephen Percy and Faster Pussycat’s Taime Downe.
The birthday bash was actually a benefit concert to raise money for Angel’s Johnny Crisstopher Charitable Foundation, which raises money to fight childhood cancer. The charity also supports Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. It is named after the magician’s son, who in 2015 was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia.
Queen has just reached a new milestone. The band announced on social media that their classic track “Bohemian Rhapsody” has just reached 2 billion views on Spotify.
The almost six-minute “Bohemian Rhapsody” was the lead single off the band’s 1975 album, A Night at the Opera, and went on to sell over 6 million copies worldwide.
The song had a resurgence in popularity in 1992 after appearing in the film Wayne’s World. After the release of the 2018 Queen biopic, also named Bohemian Rhapsody, the song became the most streamed song of the 20th century and was certified Diamond by the Recording Academy.

Bassist Flea tellsE! News that his wife, fashion designer Melody Ehsani, has given birth to their first baby together. The couple got married in 2019.
“I haven’t been doing a lot of sleeping,” Flea shares. “But I’ve been doing a lot of floating on a cloud of love.”
The newborn is the 60-year-old musician’s third child, joining 34-year-old Clara Balzary and 17-year-old Sunny Bebop Balzary.
Even before becoming a new father again, Flea’s already had a big year. He and RHCP released not one but two albums in 2022, Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen, and he also has a role in the new movie Babylon.
Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Justin Moore and Tanya Tucker are among the first round of performers added to the bill for a new tribute show and TV special dedicated to George Jones, according to a report from Billboard.
Called Still Playin’ Possum: Music and Memories of George Jones, the event is scheduled to take place April 25 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. That’s a decade, almost to the day, since the country legend died on April 26, 2013.
“It will be 10 years since he left us with just his songs, so to produce this night of music to honor his legacy is perfectly fitting,” the singer’s widow, Nancy Jones, said when she announced the event.
“George made history and influenced artists from all genres and many of them will celebrate with us in April,” she continued. “The night will bring lots of emotion for the fans, our family and anyone who just loves country music.”
Other performers on deck for the taping include Jamey Johnson, Lorrie Morgan, Michael Ray, Mark Chesnutt, Trace Adkins, Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence and Sam Moore.
Tickets to the event start at $25. VIP packages are available, including an upgrade that includes dinner with Nancy Jones the night before the show.

Dave Grohl dug up the rarity “Marigold” during a performance on a concert stream Monday supporting the Chicago charity program Letters to Santa.
“Marigold,” as Grohl fanatics will tell you, is the only song to be released by both Nirvana and Foo Fighters. It was included as a B-side on Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” single, while the Foos recorded it for their 2006 live album, Skin and Bones.
Grohl had last performed “Marigold” in 2010.

If you ever wondered whether Adele and her boyfriend, Rich Paul, were still going strong, we now have proof that Adele is still crazy about the sports agent.
Fan-shot video of Adele’s Weekends With Adele residency concert last Friday is now circulating, and it shows the superstar encouraging the audience to serenade Rich. “It’s my boyfriend’s birthday today and I love him more than life itself,” says Adele in the video. “Will you wish him happy birthday?”
She launches into “Happy Birthday,” then stops to remind the crowd, “His name is Rich.” As the audience at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace sings along, Adele gestures to her piano player to start accompanying them, and they all finish the song, which Adele then punctuates with her signature cackle.
That same night, Adele and Rich, who’d just turned 41, appeared at a West Hollywood hotspot for a birthday party, though Adele left early, the Daily Mail reported. The British tabloid said the guest list included LeBron James and his wife, plus Tristan Thompson and Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya.
Adele and Rich have been dating since 2021. She told ELLE for its September issue this year, “I’m just in loooove! I’m happy as I’ll ever be. I might as well be married.”
While there’s been much speculation that Adele and Paul have, in fact, secretly married, neither have confirmed this.
