Sam Asghari is letting fans of wife Britney Spears know the pop star is doing well by sharing an apparently recent photo of their hike together.

The pair are sitting cross legged atop a sunny mountain and staring adoringly at each other. The second slide opens a video of the two leaning in and sharing a sweet kiss. Britney then turns toward the camera and flashes a wide smile.

“A little hike & a little meditation on Christmas Day goes a long way,” the Iranian actor captioned the post. He also shared a small update about what Britney’s been up to, adding, “My wife is really becoming a meditation guru and I love it.”

He closed the post by wishing his followers a “Merry Britmas” and signed off with, “from Samta & Britney.”

Sam’s post could be seen as an indirect message to Britney’s fans, who have been spreading rumors regarding the pop star’s safety and social media access. One rumor claims Britney isn’t actually running her Instagram because she apparently stopped posting recent pictures of herself.

Sam previously warned fans that spreading such rumors is having a negative effect on the pop star. He shared via an Instagram story earlier this month, “I’ve always respected and supported [Britney’s] privacy with everything I’ve had. I ask of you supportive and protective fans to do the same.”

He also explained to fans, “Sometimes being overprotective can cause more stress and damage.”

Comments on Britney’s Instagram have since been disabled.

Miley Cyrus reportedly wants to be removed from Morrissey album

Miley Cyrus reportedly wants to be removed from a song she contributed to for a new Morrissey album, Bonfire of Teenagers.

The former The Smiths frontman previously shared on his Morrissey Central website that the upcoming record would feature guest vocals by the pop star, as well as from Iggy Pop. In a new post over the holiday weekend, Morrissey Central reports that, “Miley Cyrus now wants to be taken off the song ‘I Am Veronica’ for which she volunteered backing vocals almost two years ago.”

Whether or not Cyrus’ request is granted, it’ll probably be a while until we hear “I Am Veronica” or any of Bonfire of Teenagers. The same Morrissey Central post also states that Moz “has disassociated himself with Capitol Records (Los Angeles), who control the hidden album Bonfire of Teenagers.”

If and when Bonfire of Teenagers does come out, it’ll be the follow-up to 2020’s I Am Not a Dog on a Chain. The Andrew Watt-produced record is also set to feature contributions from Flea and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as ex-RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

Kim Kardashian talks about co-parenting with Ye: “It’s hard”

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Kim Kardashian is sharing what it’s like to co-parent with Ye.

“It’s hard. Co-parenting — it’s really f****** hard,” Kardashian told Angie Martinez on her IRL Podcast, sharing what it’s been like raising her four kids since her divorce from Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West.

Despite their divorce, Kardashian has vowed to protect her children — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm — from any negative narrative surrounding their father, and has made sure they still have a strong relationship with him.

“I definitely protected him and I still will,” Kardashian said. “In the eyes of my kids, for my kids. So in my home, my kids don’t know anything that goes on — on the outside world.”

Kardashian likely was referring to widespread condemnation of Ye’s after his recent series of antisemitic remarks, as well as his apparent embrace of various conspiracy theories about politics and culture. Kim admits it’s been difficult insulating her kids.

“I’m holding on by a thread — I know I’m like so close to that not happening,” he said. “But while it’s still that way, I will protect that to the end of the Earth as long as I can.”

Kardashian added, “But if we’re riding to school and they want to listen to their dad’s music, no matter what we’re going through, no matter what is happening in the world, like I have to have that, you know, smile on my face and blast his music and sing along with my kids and act like nothing’s wrong.”

“As soon as I drop them off, I can have a good cry or you know, text back and do what I got to do,” she added.

Kardashian filed for divorce from Ye in February 2021 after almost seven years of marriage. Last month, they settled their divorce, stating that they would share joint custody and Ye would pay $200,000 a month in child support.

Dave Grohl & Greg Kurstin wrap up ’The Hanukkah Sessions’ with YYYs, Rush & Randy Newman covers

Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin wrapped up the their 2022 Hanukkah Sessions series over the weekend.

For the final three nights, the Foo Fighters frontman and the producer performed renditions of Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ “Heads Will Roll” with frontwoman Karen O, Rush‘s “The Spirit of Radio” with Jack Black and Randy Newman‘s “I Love L.A.” with Grohl on lead vocals.

For The Hanukkah Sessions, which is now in its third year, Grohl and Kurstin release a cover of a song by a Jewish artist for each of the holiday’s eight nights. This year’s edition was recorded live at the Los Angeles club Largo earlier this month.

Other 2022 Hanukkah Sessions covers included Blood, Sweat & Tears‘ “Spinning Wheel” featuring director Judd Apatow, “Get the Party Started” with Pink, 10cc‘s “The Things We Do for Love” with Inara George, Janis Ian‘s “At Seventeen” sung by Grohl’s daughter Violet and “E-Pro” with Beck.

Greg Abbott pushes back on criticism after busing migrants to VP’s home on freezing Christmas Eve

(NEW YORK) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday pushed back against the White House’s sharp criticism of him busing more migrants to Washington, D.C., over the weekend — where they arrived outside Vice President Kamala Harris’ home on Christmas Eve in subfreezing temperatures.

“The White House is full of a bunch of hypocrites, led by the Hypocrite-in-Chief …. Instead of their hypocritical complaints about Texas providing much-needed relief to our overrun and overwhelmed border communities, President Biden and Border Czar Harris need to step up and do their jobs to secure the border—something they continue failing to do,” Renae Eze, a spokesperson for Abbott, said in a statement.

Abbott has been periodically busing migrants from Texas for months in protest of “reckless” federal border policies, he has said, and to provide “relief” to border communities.

A spokesperson for the Texas Division of Emergency Management said in September that the state had spent more than $12 million on the trips, which include charter buses and security.

The White House on Sunday labeled the latest busing a “cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt.”

Amy Fischer, an aid worker who was outside Harris’ residence at the Naval Observatory, said that 139 migrants, including many families, arrived late Saturday in three buses and none wore cold-weather gear. The temperature was in the teens.

The people were subsequently taken to an area church, Fischer told ABC News.

Eze, Abbott’s spokesperson, said in the statement on Monday that the people who were bused “willingly chose to go” and “signed a voluntary consent waiver available in multiple languages upon boarding that they agreed on the destination.”

Eze then redirected the blame back on the federal government.

“They were processed and released by the federal government, who are dumping them at historic levels in Texas border towns like El Paso, which recently declared a state of emergency because of the Biden-made crisis,” Eze said.

The White House, for its part, said Sunday that they believed a political solution was still possible.

“As we have repeatedly said, we are willing to work with anyone — Republican or Democrat alike — on real solutions, like the comprehensive immigration reform and border security measures President Biden sent to Congress on his first day in office, but these political games accomplish nothing and only put lives in danger,” a spokesman, Abdullah Hasan, said in a statement.

Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $565 million

Mega Millions jackpot jumps to 5 million

(NEW YORK) — The Mega Millions jackpot keeps growing. The numbers for the $565 prize will be drawn Tuesday.

After players failed to win the top prize on Friday, the amount rose from roughly $510 million to $565 million, the second-largest Mega Millions jackpot this year.

The cash prize totals $293.6 million.

In July, the jackpot surpassed the $1 billion mark for only the third time in the 20-year history of Mega Millions.

The historic $1.34 billion prize was won by an anonymous ticket owner in Des Plaines, Illinois.

The last winning ticket for a Mega Millions jackpot was on Oct. 14. Two ticket winners split a $502 million prize.

Only six Mega Millions jackpots have been won this year. Winning tickets were in California, Florida, New York, Minnesota, Illinois and Tennessee.

Man, 44, killed in avalanche in Colorado

(NEW YORK) — A 44-year-old man has died after he was buried by an avalanche in Colorado, officials said.

The victim was among four snowboarders who got caught in the avalanche near Winter Park on Monday afternoon, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center said.

Two of the snowboarders were buried, the Grand County Sheriff’s Department said. Bystanders and relatives were able to rescue one of the buried snowboarders, but the second was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

“This is a pretty popular backcountry riding and recreating area,” said Ethan Greene, director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. “These folks actually did most of the rescue themselves, which is really what you need to do if someone’s buried in the snow pack. They don’t have a whole lot of time to wait for the cavalry to come, so to speak. So everybody in the group needs to have rescue equipment: that’s an avalanche transceiver, a shovel and a pro pole. and know how to use them. These folks actually had all that equipment. and they did a really great rescue. But unfortunately, one person still didn’t survive.”

The victim’s identity has not been released.

“The most important things that people can do are to check the avalanche forecast, make sure that you have some sort of training, make sure you carry proper rescue equipment,” Greene said. “Part of traveling in avalanche terrain is trying to expose just one person at a time. So as you’re planning your route, make sure that you’re spreading out and making sure that only one person is in the in a place where they could get caught in an avalanche at one time.”

From overseas trips to new albums: Stars like Justin Moore + Brantley Gilbert share their New Year’s resolutions

After all the presents are unwrapped on Christmas Day, it’s time to think ahead to the new year. And for country stars like Brantley Gilbert, that means setting some career goals.

“We’ll be working on a new record,” the singer tells his label, explaining that he’s kicking that process off with a songwriting trip to Texas in February.

If it seems like Brantley just released a new album, it’s because he did — So Help Me God came out in November. But he’s wasting no time on moving on to the next project. “I’m always working on what’s next,” the singer explains. “There’s a lot in front of us. I got a lot of work to do.”

Also hoping to accomplish some new goals in 2023 is Justin Moore, who’s got his sights set on international travel.

“We would love to go to Europe. We’ve never been over there,” the singer reveals, explaining that he got the travel bug after hearing about a friend’s vacation in Italy.

“Just seeing the pictures and hearing the stories, the fact that that stuff is so much older than anything here, it’s kind of amazing,” Justin continues.

But not everyone is eager to leave 2022 in the rearview mirror just yet. Sugarland member Kristian Bush says he’s enjoying the period between holidays.

“I like this kind of empty space between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s a time for me to, like, sit down and kind of look at all the things that I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I was gonna do that this year, right,’” he says.

His nostalgia serves an important purpose. “Inevitably, I always write songs during that time that are really special to me,” Kristian adds.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ tops box office for second week with $64 million

Avatar: The Way of Water spent a second week at the top of the box office, earning $64 million from Friday through Sunday and an estimated $90 million through Monday. So far, James Cameron‘s sequel to 2009’s Avatar has racked up a total of $253.7 at the North American box office and $600 million internationally, bringing its global tally to upward of $855 million.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, the sequel set in the Shrek universe, finished in second place with a better-than-expected $12.4 million for the three-day weekend. However, that number pales in comparison to the original’s $34 million opening. The Last Wish, which opened on Wednesday, is expected to bring in $20 million for the four-day weekend and $26.9 million over the six-day.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody, the Whitney Houston biopic starring British actress Naomi Ackie in the titular role, earned a lower-than-expected $4.7 million over the traditional weekend and estimated $6.8 million over the four-day — less than half of what Sony Pictures hoped it would take in.

Damien Chazelle‘s Babylon fizzled at the box office, landing in fourth place. The showbiz epic, starring Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, delivered $3.6 million between Friday and Sunday and an estimated $5.3 million through Monday, against an $80 million budget.

Rounding out the top five was Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which added $3 million between Friday and Sunday and an estimated $4.7 million through Monday. The second Black Panther film has grossed $427 million domestically and $801 million worldwide.

Wegmans recalls micro greens, sweet pea leaves, cat grass over possible salmonella contamination

(NEW YORK) — Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. issued a voluntary recall on its products containing micro greens, sweet pea leaves and cat grass over potential salmonella contamination.

The retailer announced the recall with the Food and Drug Administration on Friday, to alert consumers of the affected products sold at various Wegmans stores in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusettes, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

“We are voluntarily recalling these products because some of the soil they were grown in, supplied to Wegmans Organic Farm by bio365 of Ithaca, New York, tested positive for Salmonella by the supplier,” the regional supermarket chain stated along with the FDA. “This is out of an abundance of caution. No illnesses have been associated with this recall.”

Wegmans customers are encouraged to return the affected products to the service desk for a full refund.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can make people sick, and most types cause an illness called salmonellosis, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Most people with salmonellosis experience symptoms such as diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, which may occur hours to days after infection, the CDC states, though some do not develop symptoms for several weeks.

Infections are diagnosed through lab testing. Most people recover within four to seven days without antibiotics, according to the CDC. Antibiotic treatment is recommended for people with severe illness, those with weakened immune systems, adults 50 and older with medical issues like heart disease, as well as infants, and adults older than 65, the agency states.
