In 2019 Peter Frampton announced he was retiring from touring due to a progressive muscle disorder, but apparently that doesn’t mean he’s ready to give up playing live altogether. In fact, he’s already lined up a new show for next month.
The guitar great just announced he’s headlining a free concert in Nashville on January 22.
So far no other details about the concert have been revealed. His last performance was back in August, when he performed at a Buddy Holly 85th birthday celebration in Texas.

Vivienne Westwood, the fashion designer who made punk and new wave fashion mainstream, has died. She was 81.
Westwood died Thursday “peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London,” a post shared on her Instagram page by her brand said.
“Vivienne continued to do the things she loved, up until her last moment, designing, working on her art, writing her book, and changing the world for the better,” according to the Instagram caption alongside a photo of Westwood. “She led an amazing life. Her innovation and impact over the last 60 years has been immense and will continue into the future.”
“The world needs people like Vivienne to make a change for the better,” the brand said.
Her husband and creative partner, Andreas Kronthaler, also released a statement and said, “I will continue with Vivienne in my heart.”
“We have been working until the end and she has given me plenty of things to get on with. Thank you darling,” he added.
Music City’s New Year’s Eve party isn’t just a star-studded countdown to 2023, it’s also the scene of a whole lot of A-lister team-ups.
The complete lineup of collaborations for New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash was revealed on Thursday, featuring several joint performances between some of the biggest stars in the country genre.
Thomas Rhett will take the stage with Riley Green, perhaps to perform their new chart-topping hit, “Half of Me” — while Kelsea Ballerini will split a performance with Wynonna Judd.
Meanwhile, Zac Brown Band will join forces with the rafter-ringing up-and-coming vocal duo The War and Treaty. Ashley McBryde is looking outside the country world for her New Year’s Eve duet partner: She’ll join forces with Sheryl Crow during the special.
Another cross-genre collaboration comes from Jimmie Allen, whose duet partner for the evening is rapper Flo Rida. The two acts recently released a duet called “No Bad Days.” Finally, rock legend Steve Miller will split a bill with King Calaway.
In addition to performing, Jimmie is co-hosting Nashville’s Big Bash with Elle King. Elle was previously announced as one of the performers hitting the stage during the special, along with Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan and a slew of other stars.
The special will air on December 31 starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
Gov’t Mule fans are going to have to make some new New Year’s Eve plans. The band was supposed to kick off a run of shows in Philadelphia Thursday, but just announced the entire schedule has been postponed due to a “medical emergency.”
“After waiting for so long, we were excited to be together and finally make these shows happen, the last thing we wanted or expected was to have to postpone again, but it was an unavoidable situation,” the band shared on Instagram. “Please keep holding on to those tickets, and we’ll update you soon with more info. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday.”
The Black ‘N’ Blue New Year’s Eve run was supposed to launch Thursday at the Met in Philadelphia, followed by shows Friday and Saturday at the Beacon Theater in New York. These shows have already been postponed twice. They were originally supposed to happen the end of December 2021 and then were rescheduled to April, but were then postponed again.
Looks like we may be getting new music from The Go-Go’s next year. Frontwoman Belinda Carlisle announced the news in a New Year’s Eve-related tweet that featured a throwback NYE performance.
The singer posted a video clip of her performing her solo single “I Get Weak” for an MTV special in 1987, writing, “It’s hard to believe that this was 35 years ago! But hey, great music never goes out of style!”
She then added, “We have new music coming out next year that I’m very excited about.” The fact that she wrote “we” and not “I” seems to indicate she’s referring to her band.
Neil Young is certainly known for standing up for what he believes in, and he did that in a big way this year, taking on Spotify.
It all started in January when Neil, upset about the COVID misinformation he believed was being spread on Spotify thanks to Joe Rogan’s podcast, demanded his music be removed from the streaming platform. Spotify did comply, but Neil wasn’t the only artist it was about to lose over the matter.
Not long after his declaration, in solidarity with Neil, Joni Mitchell and E Street Band/Crazy Horse member Nils Lofgren stood by him, demanding their music be removed from the service for the same reasons.
Then in February, Neil’s Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young bandmate Graham Nash backed him up by removing his catalog from Spotify. Not long after, David Crosby and Stephen Stills demanded their solo work, plus any Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young or Crosby, Stills & Nash and Crosby-Nash music be removed.
But the battle with Spotify wasn’t the only thing Neil had going on this year. He also released a new Crazy Horse album, World Record, as well as the album Toast, which he recorded with them in 2001 but had not released. He also released a 50th anniversary deluxe reissue of his fourth album, Harvest, along with a companion documentary, Neil Young: Harvest Time, chronicling the making of the record. Neil also released the live album and concert film Noise & Flowers, which was recorded during his nine-date 2019 European tour with Promise of the Real.

In a tweet Wednesday, Nanna shared a mysterious video alongside the caption, “New things are coming in the new year…stay tuned!” She also linked to a new website, NannaNannaNanna.com, which gives you the option to presave new music.
The Of Monsters and Men account retweeted Nanna, adding that she “has something verrrrry exciting coming soon.”
Prior to Of Monsters and Men, Nanna performed solo under the moniker Songbird.
Of Monsters and Men’s most recent album is 2019’s Fever Dream. This year, they released a new single called “This Happiness.”

Nick Cannon’s ever-expanding family just welcomed its latest addition.
Cannon and model Alyssa Scott have welcomed their second child together — Cannon’s 12th child total. Their baby girl, Halo Marie Cannon, was born on December 14.
Scott revealed the news in an Instagram post Thursday, along with a video showing the emotional journey of welcoming their daughter following the death of their son, Zen, last year.
“December 14 2022. Our lives are forever changed,” Scott wrote. “Zen is in every breath I take. I know his spirit was with us in the room that morning. I know he is watching down on us, he shows me signs everyday. I will hold onto this memory forever.”
She continued, “I will remember the sound of Nicks voice saying ‘it’s a girl’ and the look of everything we’ve been through flash across his face. I will remember the sound of her crying out with her first breath and feeling her heartbeat against mine. My sweet girl, I got my surprise!! We love you Halo Marie Cannon!”
Nick welcomed his 11th child, Beautiful Zeppelin Cannon, with Abby De La Rosa last month. Nick is also father to twin sons Zion and Zillion with De La Rosa; son Legendary with model Bre Tiesi; daughter Onyx with model LaNisha Cole; sons Rise Messiah and Golden Sagon, and daughter Powerful Queen with model Brittany Bell; and twins Moroccan and Monroe with his ex-wife, Mariah Carey.

(NEW YORK) — Brazilian soccer legend Pelé, a three-time World Cup champion who’s largely considered to be one of the best players ever, has died. He was 82 years old.
His daughter, Kely, confirmed his death on social media.
“All that we are is thanks to you,” she wrote. “We love you forever. Rest in peace.”
Brazil has planned 48 hours of national mourning. Pele is expected to be buried in Santos, southeast of Sao Paulo, where he played club soccer from 1956 to 1974.
Pelé had been in and out of the hospital over the past year as he fought colon cancer. In November, Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo announced that his cancer had advanced and that he was in palliative care.
Albert Einstein Hospital confirmed Pelé died at 3:27 p.m. local time from multiple organ failure as a result of colon cancer.
The soccer star, whose real name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was hospitalized in December 2021 shortly after undergoing chemotherapy to treat a reported colon tumor. He had posted on Instagram that he was recovering.
Over the past year, Pelé had dismissed fears over his health and continued to thank fans for their support.
“Dear friends, it’s been a while since we talked about this. I want to let you know that I’m fine. I feel better every day. I don’t think even the mask for my protection can hide my happiness. Thank you very much to all of you who send me good energy daily,” he wrote in a November 2021 post on Instagram.
Named FIFA co-Player of the Century in 1999 along with Diego Maradona of Argentina, Pelé spent his retirement as a global ambassador for the sport and devoted to other humanitarian causes. In 2020, when Maradona died, Pelé remarked, “One day, I hope we can play football together in the sky.”
Pelé was born on Oct. 23, 1940, in the town of Tres Coracoes in the southern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. His parents named him after U.S. inventor Thomas Edison. Pelé’s father, João Ramos do Nascimento, nicknamed Dondinho, was also a professional soccer player.
The young Edson received the nickname Pelé in school when schoolmates mocked his pronunciation of the popular Brazilian goalkeeper Bilé, he explained in a 2016 column for The Players’ Tribune.
He began playing at 13 with a youth team in Bauru. He was scouted by the Brazilian club Santos at 15 and began playing professionally with the team.
At just 17, he emerged as a superstar with his performance during Brazil’s victorious 1958 World Cup, and he played his entire career in Brazil with Santos.
Pelé won two additional World Cup titles — in 1962 and 1970 — before ending his storied career with the New York Cosmos in 1977.
His last game on Oct. 1, 1977, an exhibition game between the Cosmos and Santos, was played before a sellout crowd at Giants Stadium. The game was televised on ABC’s “Wide World of Sports.”
He later starred in John Huston’s 1981 World War II sports film “Escape to Victory” alongside Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine.
A biopic about his life, “Pele: Birth of a Legend,” was released in 2016.
Pelé is largely credited for sparking interest in the game in the United States during the 1970s, a legacy that lives on to this day.
He is survived by wife Marcia Aoki, as well as seven children: Brazilian soccer coach and former player Edson Cholbi do Nascimento, better known as Edinho; daughter Sandra Regina Machado Arantes do Nascimento; soccer player Joshua Nascimento; son Celeste Arantes do Nascimento; and three other daughters, Kely Cristina Nascimento, Flávia Christina Kurtz Nascimento and Jennifer Nascimento.
