(NEW YORK) — A total of 22 people were injured after a car crashed into a restaurant in upper Manhattan on Monday night. Three people refused medical attention at the scene and 19 others were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to the NYPD.

Police responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision involving multiple injured people at around 9 p.m. at the Inwood Bar and Grill, according to officials.

A preliminary investigation determined that an Audi sedan exited a gas station on West 204 St and Broadway and collided into the rear of a Toyota RAV4 on Broadway, according to officials.

The 31-year-old male driver of the Toyota then lost control of his car and the vehicle mounted the curb and drove into the front glass window of the Inwood Bar and Grill, according to officials.

The driver of the Audi sedan did not remain at the scene and the vehicle was last seen heading northbound on Broadway, according to officials.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to New York Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition, according to officials.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing.

Lindsey Buckingham has revealed that he’s working on a new album. The news came in a New Year’s social media post in which Lindsey looked back on the past year, saying it “was certainly a positive year in many respects, it was also a year of loss and disappointment.”

He hinted at the passing of his Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, noting the loss of “longtime soulmates has been profoundly heartbreaking.” He also mentioned his disappointment at a tour “unexpectedly cut short” because of “challenges with my health.”

“The year’s polarity of positives and negatives has only strengthened my resolve to remain in the moment and to continue to move forward,” he shared. “Happily, my health has returned, and I’ve begun work on a new album.”

Finally, he notes, “Thanks so much to everyone for your support. I’m looking forward to 2023 and beyond!”

Ashley McBryde‘s latest update from the fictional town of Lindeville has arrived, in the form of her new video, “Brenda Put Your Bra On.”

The tune is the opening track from her Grammy-nominated Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville album and chronicles a domestic disturbance in a trailer park.

“As soon as we recorded this song, we knew we wanted to make a video for it. It’s the start of the action in Lindeville,” Ashley explains. “There were a lot of ways we could have shot the video, yet [director] Reid [Long] had the idea to capture all the insanity and drama in one continuous take, which feels very in tune with the spirit of this entire project.”

Caylee Hammack and Pillbox Patti join Ashley on the track, which was produced by Brothers Osborne‘s John Osborne. Sibling TJ also appears on the album, along with Brandy Clark and others.

The Lindeville troupe will come together February 15 and 16 to perform the album at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.

Devin Townsend continues to be in Chad Kroeger‘s corner.

In an interview with Ultimate Guitar, the prolific Canadian metaller deems the often-maligned Nickelback frontman as “brilliant.”

“Chad is a phenomenally intelligent human being,” Townsend says.

Kroeger and Townsend previously collaborated on the latter’s 2019 album, Empath, after which Townsend declared that Kroeger is a “functioning genius.”

“With Chad, I remember being at his house a couple times, and just being, ‘Wow, this is so intense, man,'” Townsend says. “He had a stage set up, and it’s metal all night. And I’m thinking, like, ‘Man, you are so much more of a metalhead than I am.’ But I do care for him. And I think he’s brilliant.”

Nickelback, meanwhile, released a new album called Get Rollin in November. In March, they’ll be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Dolly Parton‘s finding “Peace Like a River” with the legendary Dionne Warwick

The pop/R&B icon revealed the collaboration Tuesday on Tamron Hall, teasing the gospel track that Dolly wrote.

“She’s such a sweetheart,” Dionne added of Dolly. “I love her.”

Dionne went on to say the duet is extra special because of Dolly’s connection to her late cousin Whitney Houston, who of course took Dolly’s signature “I Will Always Love You” to new heights with her 1992 recording.

“It’s preordained. God’s got a purpose,” Dionne predicted of the new song.

So far, we don’t know when we’ll be able to hear “Peace Like a River.” Dolly’s also busy working on her rock album, following her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year.

FTX crypto CEO Sam Bankman-Fried pleads not guilty in Manhattan federal court

FTX crypto CEO Sam Bankman-Fried pleads not guilty in Manhattan federal court
ABC News

(NEW YORK) — Disgraced crypto executive Sam Bankman-Fried pleaded not guilty to federal criminal charges in Manhattan on Tuesday and was tentatively scheduled to stand trial Oct. 2.

Bankman-Fried, instantly recognizable by his mop of unkempt hair, appeared before Judge Lewis Kaplan in a dark suit and tie. His mother sat behind him in the spectator benches.

The former CEO of bankrupt crypto exchange FTX did not speak during the hearing. His attorney, Mark Cohen, entered the not guilty plea on his behalf.

“He pleads not guilty to all counts,” Cohen said.

Bankman-Fried has been charged with eight counts of fraud and conspiracy. Federal prosecutors have alleged Bankman-Fried orchestrated one of the “biggest financial frauds in American history” by steering billions in FTX customer and investor money and funneling it to his privately controlled hedge fund Alameda Research.

Other funds were used to buy lavish real estate and to make tens of millions in political donations, court records said.

The number of victims of the FTX fraud could exceed 1 million, a prosecutor said during Tuesday’s hearing.

“FTX was the second-largest crypto exchange,” the prosecutor, Danielle Sassoon, said.

Before his arrest last month, Bankman-Fried insisted in numerous interviews, including one with ABC News, that he did not know about any improper use of funds from customers of now-bankrupt crypto exchange FTX.

Bankman-Fried has been free on bond and subject to electronic monitoring while living at his parents’ home in Palo Alto, California. The judge added a condition of release that prevents Bankman-Fried from accessing or transferring assets from FTX or Alameda Research.

Reflecting the complexity of the case, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday they were bringing additional resources to bear in an attempt to track down stolen billions that disappeared from FTX.

Bankman-Fried was extradited from the Bahamas, where he lived in a multimillion-dollar mansion, on Dec. 21.

Two of his former colleagues, Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang, have pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors

“We prepared certain quarterly balance sheets that concealed the extent of Alameda’s borrowing and the billions of dollars in loans that Alameda had made to FTX executives and to related parties. I also understood that FTX had not disclosed to FTX’s equity investors that Alameda could borrow a potentially unlimited amount from FTX, thereby putting customer assets at risk,” Ellison said during her closed-door plea hearing last month, according to a transcript obtained by ABC News.

Ellison, former CEO of Alameda and girlfriend of Bankman-Fried, pleaded guilty to seven counts. Wang, co-founder of FTX with Bankman-Fried, pleaded guilty to to four counts.

‘Avatar’ has ‘Maverick’ in its sights as it crosses $1.44 billion at the box office

It hasn’t even been in theaters for a month, but Avatar: The Way of Water already has 2022’s highest grossing film in its sights.

James Cameron‘s sequel to the highest-grossing film of all time splashed past the $1.44 billion mark worldwide after strong performances over the New Year’s holiday weekend. By comparison, Maverick, which was released in May 2022, has inched toward the $1.89 billion mark by this point.

In short, like its Na’vi characters’ are, The Way of Water‘s legs are long: The film that came out the week of December 16 ended up jumping to #2 of 2022’s Top 10 ranking worldwide before the year’s end, and its strong performance over the holiday reveals there are no signs of it stopping, particularly overseas. As some prognosticators predicted, the film could overtake Maverick in short order, earning in weeks what took the highest-grossing Tom Cruise movie months to generate.
