(TULSA, Okla.) — A second gunshot victim was found among 32 new graves in the search for victims of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

The archeologists leading the search began a second round of excavation at Oaklawn Cemetery late last month and concluded the process Friday.

“That individual was buried with personal effects, including one shoe and keys,” Dr. Phoebe Stubblefield said during a press conference. “His manner of burial indicates haste or certainly the lack of consideration.”

This is the second victim found at the site with a confirmed gunshot wound.

Stubblefield is a forensic anthropologist who specializes in human identification and is leading the excavations that began at the cemetery in 2020. Experts have uncovered a total of 66 unmarked graves since the start of the search.

Forensic scientists in Tulsa will continue to examine the recently exhumed burials. DNA samples from those that meet the criteria of potential massacre victims will then be sent to Intermountain Forensics lab in Utah for further testing.

Intermountain Forensics was able to extract DNA from two of the 14 sets of remains sent to them last year.

The team in Tulsa needed to re-exhume the other 12 individuals during this latest search to get additional samples for testing.

The newly discovered burials will be kept above ground until the Utah lab confirms it has enough DNA to proceed with tests.

Historical documents and witness accounts from the 1920s indicate several black men killed during the massacre were placed in plain caskets and buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in unmarked graves. City officials say although the excavation is a significant step in the search for massacre victims, experts have not yet determined if the burials are from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

“We’re not looking for a needle in a haystack, we’re looking for a needle in a needle stack,” Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum said.

About 1,200 Black residents lived in Tulsa’s Greenwood neighborhood in the early 1900s. The area was also home to hundreds of successful Black-owned businesses and became known as “Black Wall Street.”

On the evening of May 31, 1921, a confrontation between groups of white and Black residents prompted by the arrest of a young Black man named Dick Rowland who was accused of assaulting a white woman. The violence ended with an entire 35-block area burned to the ground.

Historians estimate that between 100 and 300 people were killed during the massacre. Many of the victims’ bodies have never been found.

After producing an album with Halsey, could Zendaya be Trent Reznor‘s next surprise collaborator?

The Nine Inch Nails frontman and his bandmate/scoring partner Atticus Ross have been working on the soundtrack to the upcoming Zendaya-starring film Challengers. In an interview with Variety, Reznor and Ross were asked whether they’d ever want to write a song for the Euphoria and Spider-Man star, who also has a music career.

“We’d be totally open to it,” Reznor replies. “We both admire her completely.”

The “Closer” rocker adds that Zendaya is “incredible” in Challengers.

In the meantime, you can hear Reznor and Ross’ scoring work in the new film Bones and All, starring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell. Both Bones and All and Challengers are directed by Call Me By Your Name filmmaker Luca Guadagnino.

“Luca was on a shortlist of people we thought we’d love to meet and collaborate with,” Reznor says.

While a teaser of the forthcoming movie is, so far, nowhere in sight, Lucasfilm has granted Empire magazine the first official pictures of Harrison Ford in the fifth Indiana Jones film.

Ford-as-Indy graces the cover of the magazine. The adventurer is pictured on the deck of a boat, staring intensely off camera.

Nothing is yet known about the plot, but Ford, now 80, promises, “It’s full of adventure, full of laughs, full of real emotion. And it’s complex and it’s sneaky.”

He adds, “The shooting of it was tough and long and arduous, but I’m very happy with the film that we have.”

As for why he tackled one final adventure as Dr. Henry Jones Jr., the legendary actor said, “I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey.”

The as-yet-untitled fifth Indy adventure also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Boyd Holbrook. The film is set for release on June 30, 2023.

Lucasfilm is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

With just three episodes of its second season under its belt, HBO has renewed The White Lotus for a third.

The series, which received 20 Emmy nominations and 10 wins for its freshman season, just saw its second season rank as the number one show on HBO Max, making the decision something of a no-brainer.

HBO’s head of drama and films, Francesca Orsi, praised one of the show’s Emmy winners, creator Mike White, in the announcement. “Reflecting on The White Lotus‘ humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows. And yet, he’s only continued to reach new heights in season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision.”

She added, “His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, paired with his signature irreverent humor and buoyant directing style, have us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we’ve come to adore. We couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to collaborate on a third season together.”

The second season of the acclaimed show stars Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge, as well as Aubrey Plaza, Sydney Sweeney, Jake Lacy and Theo James. It wraps up on December 11.

Bryson Tiller and Jack Harlow are supportive of each others’ careers, so much so they had planned to team up for a collaborative album. The project never came to fruition, however, because Tiller wasn’t in the right state of mind.

In an interview with Bootleg Kev, the singer explained, “We planned on doing it a little while ago, but he caught me in the middle of depression so I just wasn’t in that mental space to even do that.” He continued, “I ended up not going to Atlanta like we originally planned.”

Bryson and Jack are both natives of Louisville, Kentucky. Before his rise to fame, a teenage Jack DM’d the “Gotta Move On” singer about the influence he had on Jack’s then-budding career.

“I’m a massive fan dude and study your every move,” the rapper told Tiller in a DM he shared earlier this year. “I just turned 17 and I’m very confident in my craft and trajectory of my career.”

Tiller replied, “Thanks man I appreciate it,” along with an encouraging message: “keep working. anything is possible.”

Fast-forward to today: the two have collaborations “Thru the Night” and “Luv Is Dro” under their belts.

Jack’s a Grammy-nominated star, who’s now up for three awards at the 2023 Grammys; Bryson is preparing to release his new album next year.

“I’m just so excited to give people experiences, something that they can attach to a memory that they have going on in life,” he said of the forthcoming project, per Rap-Up.com. “That’s kinda what I really care about right now.”

Bruce Springsteen gives update on second covers album, confirms ‘Tracks 2’

Bruce Springsteen just released his soul covers record Only The Strong Survive, which is billed as volume 1, so of course fans are wondering when they’ll get to hear volume 2. And it sounds like it’s not too far off.

“Volume 2, I would say, is probably three-quarters recorded,” The Boss tells Rolling Stone, explaining the genre he’ll focus on is “very similar” to the first album. “I continued working in soul music because I was just having so much fun,” he says. “But I thought of doing a series of these records in a variety of different genres with songs that I love.”

Bruce shares that he’s currently not writing anything new, noting, “I might not write in a while,” which is “very normal for me.” But with these cover albums, fans “don’t have to sit around and wait four years for me to make another record.”

Bruce says he’s also interested in tackling covers of country and rock songs: “There’s just so many different things, and all focused around my voice … I’d really like to use this time when I’m not writing to really focus on my vocals.”

And this may not be the only music Bruce is going to release. He seemed to confirm the rumors of a Tracks 2 box set, saying he has “five unreleased albums that are basically post-1988” that he’ll eventually release. While he says some fans felt the ‘90s “wasn’t a great decade” for him, the Tracks set will “give people a chance to reassess what I was doing during that time period,” noting, “I can’t wait to see the response to some of it.”
