Golden Globe winner Jeremy Allen White hints at what’s on the menu for second season of ‘The Bear’

To the delight of critics and viewers who made FX’s The Bear one of last season’s buzziest hits, the Hulu smash was renewed over the summer.

However, not even its newly minted Golden Globe-winning star Jeremy Allen White knows what’s on the menu for next season.

The actor, who plays Carmine “Carmy” Berzatto in the series, suspects the next go-round will pick up where the finale left off: Getting off the ground the restaurant that … bears his nickname. But even he doesn’t know for sure.

He expressed backstage, “Really and truly … I haven’t read anything. I’ve been bothering Chris [show creator Christopher Storer] out there all night to give me some scripts. He says January 15. But I think we’ll open The Bear. I mean, I think we’ll see the process of, um, of, you know, building a kitchen from the ground up.”

For a guy who plays a world-famous chef on the career rebound, however, White admits he had no real cooking experience — but the show opened his eyes to the business thanks to its technical advisers, including chef Matty Matheson and Storer’s chef sister, Courtney.

White explains, “And so I go out to eat with them, and I just try to watch their relationship to the food. But not only the food … but also the environment of a restaurant … . It was something I had never really thought about. Is it someplace you want to stay? Is it someplace you want to be? How’s the service? All these things. I just, I started looking at it in a bigger way.”

Jack White announces final dates of Supply Chain Issues tour

Jack White has announced the final dates of his Supply Chain Issues tour.

The massive international outing, which first launched last April, will come to a close with two shows at the intimate Blue Room in White’s Third Man Records in Nashville, taking place January 16 and 17. Given the small size of the space, the shows are unsurprisingly already sold out.

Before the Nashville concerts, White will play Los Angeles this Friday. He’ll also perform at Colorado’s Palm Tree Music Festival in February.

The Supply Chain Issues tour supported White’s two 2022 solo albums, Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive.

Bob Dylan releases “Not Dark Yet (Version 1)” from upcoming bootleg series

Bob Dylan is set to drop Bob Dylan Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series Vol. 17 later this month, and he’s giving fans another taste of the set.

The rocker just dropped “Not Dark Yet (Version 1),” which is featured on the second disc of outtakes and alternate versions of tracks. He previously shared a version of “Love Sick” recorded January 14, 1997, at Criteria Studios.

Bob Dylan Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series Vol. 17 is set to drop January 27 and will be the final installment in Dylan’s Bootleg Series. The set will be released in a variety of formats, including a deluxe five-disc or 10-LP, 12-inch vinyl edition. There will also be a two-disc/four-LP highlights edition.

Dylan released Time Out of Mind, his 30th album, in September 1997. The album went on to win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1998, along with Grammys for Best Contemporary Folk Album and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for “Cold Irons Bounds.”

‘Abbott Elementary’ scores early season 3 renewal

Not so surprising considering its recent Emmy wins and the three trophies it took home at the Golden Globes Tuesday night, Abbott Elementary has been renewed for its junior year.

The third season renewal of the hit school sitcom, which is currently in its second season, was announced Wednesday during ABC’s 2023 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour.

Tuesday evening, the show scored the Best Television Series honor in the Musical or Comedy category. Creator Quinta Brunson was awarded Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series and Tyler James Williams Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in the same category.

In September, Brunson picked up a trophy for Best Writing in a Comedy Series at the Emmys, which also gave the show the nods for Best Casting in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actress for Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Additionally, just hours ago, the Screen Actors Guild honored the show, Brunson and the entire Abbott ensemble with nominations for February’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Lil Yachty holding auditions for all-girls band

Lil Yachty is in search of people, specifically women, to join his band. The rapper shared an ad in an Instagram post, in which he issued a call for auditions.

“Yachty is putting a band together. I want an all-girls band,” he writes. He’s specifically working to find two or three background singers, a guitar player, a drummer, a bass player and a keyboard player.

“Tryouts for my band Thursday,” Yatchy continued. “Shall the most talented women please pull up… Let’s Meet! See U Soon Ladies!”

Auditions take place January 12 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at MDP Production in Georgia.

More Childish Gambino music is on the way, says Donald Glover

Childish Gambino teased fans when he made an appearance on Latto‘s “Sunshine” in 2022, but apparently there’s more music on the way.

While on the red carpet for the Golden Globe Awards Tuesday, he told E! News that he’s currently cooking some stuff up in the studio.

“I’m making music right now. I love it,” said Gambino. “I’m actually in the studio. I’ve been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things. I’ve been just making it for fun right now. But soon something will happen. I promise.”

Childish Gambino is the stage name for Donald Glover, star of the FX series Atlanta. He once considered retiring the name and persona of his alter ego.

“There’s nothing worst [sic] than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘Again?'” he said to HuffPost in 2017. “You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”

“Like I feel like there’s gotta be a reason to do things and I always had a reason to be punk,” he continued. “Being punk just always felt really good to me … and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn’t be punk anymore. As much as ‘Redbone’ is a punk song because it’s a gospel song that’s on the radio, I’m like there’s only so far you can go before you just are the radio.”

Glover has since changed his thoughts on his alter ego.

“That was out in the ethos,” he told E! News. “You don’t have to worry about that. He’ll be back. He’s here right now.”

Dierks isn’t “Gone,” he’s teasing a “big announcement”

It seems like Dierks Bentley probably has a little something up his sleeve.

“New song coming this week? Maybe,” he tweeted Tuesday evening, adding, “Big announcement coming this week? Maybe.”

The Arizona native does have a couple pieces of business up in the air at this point. Aside from a handful of festival dates, we don’t know his tour plans for 2023, and he’s been working on his upcoming 10th album for some time.

His most recent record was 2018’s The Mountain, though he’s topped the chart with the non-album singles “Gone” and “Beers on Me” since then. A third single, “Gold,” is in the top 20 now.

Naomi Osaka announces she’s pregnant, expecting first baby with boyfriend Cordae

Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka is pregnant. She and boyfriend Cordae are expecting their first child.

Osaka confirmed the news Wednesday on Twitter, sharing a photo of an ultrasound.

“I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future,” she wrote. “One thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom.'”

Osaka continued, “2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024.”

Osaka was referring to the Australian Open, where the main draw gets underway soon in Melbourne.

The tournament announced on Sunday that Osaka, a two-time champion, would not compete this year.

“Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the Australian Open. We will miss her at #AO2023,” the Australian Open tweeted, without sharing a reason for her withdrawal.

Osaka and Cordae began dating in 2019.

NOFX announces initial dates of final tour

NOFX has announced the initial dates of the long-running punk band’s final tour.

The farewell outing will begin April 22 in Austin, Texas, and is currently scheduled through a September 30 date in St. Petersburg, Florida. Eventually, the itinerary will include stops in 40 cities in recognition of NOFX’s 40th anniversary, with the group’s very last show taking place in October 2024 in Los Angeles.

In keeping with the 40 theme, NOFX will perform 40 songs during each night of the tour and will never repeat a set list throughout the whole run.

“This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath,” says frontman Fat Mike. “These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing. We are gonna play with all our hearts … With all our joy … And then we are done. We are done done.”

Last August, Fat Mike revealed that 2023 would be NOFX’s “last year.” He later clarified that their last tour would last into 2024.

The Velvet Underground’s John Cale releases “Noise Of You” from upcoming album ‘Mercy’

The Velvet Underground’s John Cale is out with a new song. “Noise Of You” is the latest track off Cale’s upcoming album, Mercy, which drops January 20.

“Yup, it’s a love song,” Cale shares in the video for the track. “When I started sketching this song, it was all about the atmosphere. It made me recall wintertime in Prague.” He noted, “As the instrumentation came together it felt like something I wanted to hear on 1960s AM radio … about a guy trying to get the love of his life back.”

Mercy is Cale’s first album of original songs in a decade. It features Cale working with such artists as Animal Collective, Sylvan Esso and Laurel Halo. According to a press release, the album “moves through true dark-night-of-the-soul electronics toward vulnerable love songs and hopeful considerations for the future.”
