HAIM, ODESZA and FINNEAS are among the artists playing New York City’s 2023 Governors Ball Music Festival, taking place June 9-11.
The bill also includes girl in red, Oliver Tree, KennyHoopla and Sofi Tukker, along with headliners Kendrick Lamar and Lizzo.
Gov Ball 2023 will be held in Queens’ Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which also hosts the US Open tennis tournament. The festival’s previous venues include Randall’s Island and Citi Field.

Lil Tjay was arrested Monday following a traffic stop in the Bronx.
As New York Post reports, the rapper and four other men were traveling in a Cadillac Escalade when they were pulled over for tinted windows and a missing front license plate. Cops discovered four loaded handguns in the vehicle and took the men into custody.
According to TMZ, Tjay was reportedly on his way to a video shoot with Ice Spice when the arrest took place.
He and two others were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Thomas Rhett‘s expanding his line of high-end liquor, offering fans a taste of his new Dos Primos Tequila Añejo in the coming months.

Dos Primos is made from blue agave hand harvested in Los Altos and Jalisco, Mexico. It’s then aged for at least 13 months in bourbon barrels. The Añejo joins the original Blanco tequila, which TR and Jeff followed with a Reposado.
Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland is accusing his ex-wife Carré Callaway of defamation in a lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone.
The legal action stems from what Borland feels is a violation of the former couple’s divorce agreement, which stipulated that “neither party may make speeches, give interviews, or make public statements that defame the other party.”
As an example, Borland’s suit points to a 2022 interview Callaway gave to Bandcamp Daily while promoting her band Queen Kwong‘s 2022 album, Couples Only. Callaway said that, amid her and Borland’s 2019 divorce, he gave her three days to move out and find a new home for their “seven or eight cats.”
“There was a disabled one called Daisy,” Callaway said. “She died a week after [Borland] left because he was the only one who could care for her.”
Callaway’s account about having to move out and rehome the cats was then repeated in a review of Couples Only posted by Flood Magazine, which was written by the same author who did the Bandcamp Daily interview.
“These statements intentionally do what Ms. Callaway was expressly prohibited from doing: They adversely affect Mr. Borland’s public image and reputation that he has built over a twenty-plus–year career,” Borland’s suit reads.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Callaway writes, “The truth cannot be defamatory.”
“This action is simply a tactic to bully, intimidate, and silence me,” Callaway continues. “This is an attempt to financially ruin me, exhaust my physical well-being and denigrate my credibility with the explicit intent of causing harm to my career.”
Meanwhile, Borland’s attorney maintains, “Mr. Borland’s post-judgment motion has nothing to do with any issues beyond what each of the parties agreed to do as part of the finalization of their 2019 divorce case.”
Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell are among the artists who have contributed items to the new MusiCares Charity Relief Auction, set to coincide with this year’s Grammy Awards.
Items up for grabs include three guitars from MusiCares Person of the Year honorees. There’s a 2014 Gibson Les Paul electric guitar signed by the five members of Fleetwood Mac — Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Christine and John McVie —who received the honor in 2018; a black Epiphone acoustic guitar from the 2015 celebration of honoree Bob Dylan, signed by the artists who paid tribute to him, including John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen; and a 2021 Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar signed by the 2022 MusiCares Person of the Year, Joni Mitchell, which is paired with an autographed four-LP vinyl box set of The Reprise Albums (1868-1971).
There is also a Joni Mitchell watercolor painting that was created live by artist Rob Prior ahead of the 2022 event, which Mitchell added a few strokes to, as well as a signed print of Joni’s original painting of Jimi Hendrix.

(NEW YORK) — The National Hurricane Center on Monday issued a rare tropical weather outlook for January: a strong, non-tropical low pressure system in the Atlantic Ocean.
The powerful storm, located about 300 miles north of Bermuda, will soon lose steam. It was unable to transition to a subtropical or tropical cyclone as it moved north on Monday.
This system was responsible for the blast of snow to coastal New England on Sunday and Monday. Parts of Massachusetts picked up 4.5 inches of snow. Boston, which has had a below-average snowfall this winter, got their biggest hit of snow with 3.5 inches.
It’s rare for an Atlantic storm to develop in January. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30. The most recent January hurricane was Alex in 2016, which reached Category 1 strength. Alex made landfall as a tropical storm in Portugal’s Azores islands.

The Last of Us, HBO’s adaptation of the hit post-apocalyptic PlayStation game video series, is off to a smashing start.
The show, which stars The Mandalorian‘s Pedro Pascal and his former fellow Game of Thrones veteran Bella Ramsey, posted the cable network’s second-largest debut ever on Sunday night. The first episode, which ran around an hour and 20 minutes, drew 4.7 million viewers on both the network and its streaming service, HBO Max — an audience second only to the opener of its Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon.
As in the game, the series has Pascal playing Joel, a mourning father tasked with taking a special girl named Ellie, played by Ramsey, out of the Quarantine Zone and through an America devastated by a fungal pandemic that essentially turns people into zombies.
HBO also touted that The Last of Us scored on social media as well, trending at #1 on Twitter Sunday night. Moreover, teasers and trailers scared up more than 100 million viewers globally. The show is also currently enjoying a 99% score on the ratings aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
“Our focus was simply to make the best possible adaptation of this beloved story for as big an audience as we could,” said Executive Producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann in a statement. “We are overjoyed to see how many fans, both old and new, have welcomed The Last of Us into their homes and their hearts.”
(NEW YORK) — A California woman is speaking out after a routine manicure resulted in her developing an infection that turned into a form of cancer that can be cured, especially when caught early..
Grace Garcia shared her experience on social media last month.
“It all started w/Mani/Pedi that went wrong! Nail tech cut me with unsterilized tools! 💅🏻🩸 which within 6 months turned in to CANCER!!” she captioned her TikTok post.
Garcia told Good Morning America her ordeal first started in November 2021, when she went to get a manicure ahead of Thanksgiving. It was supposed to be like any other manicure appointment she’d been getting for the last two decades but it turned out different this time.
“It seemed harmless until it wasn’t,” Garcia said.
“As the technician was cutting my cuticle, she cut me,” she recalled. “It was a deep cut and I remember being very upset about it.”
A few days afterward, Garcia said she thought the cut on her ring finger had started to heal but it still felt unusual.
“It felt as if I couldn’t bump my finger into anything,” the mom of three said. “I couldn’t use it. I couldn’t type well. It felt tender to the touch.”
For months, Garcia said she dealt with the pain and followed up with her doctor. Then, in April 2022, about five months after she first received the cut, Garcia was referred to UCLA Health dermatologist Dr. Teo Soleymani for a biopsy.
“It came back as a squamous cell carcinoma, which is a very common form of skin cancer,” Soleymani told GMA of the biopsy test result. “But interestingly … she didn’t have any of the traditional signs … hers was HPV-driven. And it’s an interesting thing to see.”
HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a common virus, one that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say “nearly everyone” will get “at some point in their lives.” The CDC estimates over 42 million Americans currently live with some form of HPV infection and approximately 13 million will get infected with HPV each year.
Some strains of HPV can also lead to cancer, such as genital, head or neck cancers, while others can cause warts on various parts of the body. Most HPV infections will not lead to cancer.
The virus is spread through skin-to-skin contact or skin-to-mucosa contact. In very rare cases, contaminated equipment has been thought as a possible means of transmission for the virus.
“Grace had a very obvious injury that allowed a portal of entry for the higher risk strain to kind of get in there,” Soleymani said. “The reason we don’t see it in places like our hands or our face or anywhere where we have thick skin is generally, our skin has a top layer that’s pretty protective.”
HPV vaccines can prevent more than 90% of the cancers caused by HPV but Garcia had not been vaccinated prior to her diagnosis. The CDC recommends that children as young as 9 and some adults up to age 45 get the vaccine.
Soleymani said, “I think everybody should be vaccinated because it’s one of the few simple ways that we can reduce cancer.”
Today, Garcia is cancer-free after receiving treatment, including Mohs surgery, the same type of procedure first lady Jill Biden received last week to remove a cancerous lesion from near her eye.
People can also avoid infections by making sure tools used at a nail salon are cleaned and sanitized before sitting down for a manicure.
Harry Styles will be performing at this year’s BRIT Awards, the U.K. equivalent of the Grammys.
Harry, who’s won two BRIT Awards so far and is nominated for four more this year, will sing during the ceremony, which is set for February 11 at London’s O2 Arena. It’ll be his second solo performance at the BRIT Awards, following his 2020 performance of “Falling.”
Among Harry’s nominations: Mastercard Album of the Year for Harry’s House, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. He joins a lineup that also includes U.K. alt-rockers Wet Leg, and Sam Smith with their “Unholy” duet partner Kim Petras.

(NEW YORK) — University of Idaho quadruple murder suspect Bryan Kohberger allegedly posted in an online forum years ago that he had “crazy thoughts” and “delusions of grandeur.”
The New York Times reported on Jan. 13 that Kohberger, 28, allegedly posted on an online message board devoted to a condition called visual snow syndrome, a disorder that causes someone to see static.
Between Nov. 6, 2009, and Feb. 20, 2012, while Kohberger was a teenager, he allegedly made 118 posts on the forum under the username “exarr.”
In January 2011 he allegedly wrote: “I have had VS [visual snow] since september 21st of 2009. Since then I have changed, mainly from the anxiety and sense of derealization and hopelessness.”
In April 2011, in a thread by another user about possible benefits of visual snow syndrome, Kohberger wrote: “I have become very deep and determined on goals. It made me smarter.”
Kohberger wrote in May 2011 that he has “depression, no interest in activity, constant thoughts of suicide, crazy thoughts, delusions of grandeur, anxiety, poor self image, poor social skills, NO EMOTION.” The post concluded: “When I get home, I am mean to my family. This started when VS did. I felt no emotion and along with the depersonalization, I can say and do whatever I want with little remorse.”
In a July 2011 post, Kohberger allegedly wrote: “I have had this horrible Depersonalization go on in my life for almost 2 years. I often find myself making simple human interactions, but it is as if I am playing a role playing game. … As I hug my family, I look into their faces, I see nothing, it is like I am looking at a video game, but less. … I am blank, I have no opinion, I have no emotion, I have nothing.”
Kohberger’s alleged last post was on Feb. 20, 2012. The post said: “I have just accepted my visual snow finally. I don’t even feel the need to stay away from the forum, it doesn’t scare me anymore! anyone else come to terms? I feel like comign [sic] to terms could be a bad thing though.”
A person who knew Kohberger at the time of the posts told ABC News he had seen the posts and was “extremely confident” they were Kohberger’s, citing Kohberger’s complaints at the time about his issues with visual snow syndrome as well as a reference in the posts to living in a house with mold problems.
Kohberger is accused of stabbing four University of Idaho students to death in an off-campus home in the early hours of Nov. 13. The shocking murders garnered national interest as police searched for a suspect. Kohberger was arrested on Dec. 30.
Kohberger was a Ph.D. student in Washington State University’s department of criminal justice and criminology at the time of the murders. Washington State is just 10 miles from the University of Idaho.
None of the posts viewed by ABC News suggested Kohberger’s alleged illness made him prone to violence. Experts caution that people with mental illness are no more likely to be violent than anybody else. In fact, they are 10 times more likely to be the victim of a violent crime. But in this case, police say Kohberger is their main suspect.
Kohberger faces first-degree murder and burglary charges. He has not yet entered a plea.
