A documentary about Canadian rock band Triumph is set to debut on AXS TV later this month.
Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine, debuting January 25 at 9 p.m. ET, tells the true story of the heavy metal group, known for such guitar anthems as “Fight The Good Fight,” “Hold On,” “Magic Power” and “Lay it On The Line.”
The doc features commentary from band members Rik Emmett, Mike Levine and Gil Moore, as well as former member Phil X. There are also interviews with actor/musician Kiefer Sutherland, Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach, Styx singer Lawrence Gowan and more.
No doubt Flo Rida has a “Good Feeling” right now:Billboard reports that a jury has awarded him a whopping $82 million in damages in his lawsuit against the energy drink company Celsius.
A Broward County, Florida, jury found that Celsius had breached two endorsement contracts it signed with Flo Rida in the mid-2010s. When he first filed the suit in 2021, Flo, born Tramar Dillard, claimed that he was owed millions of dollars’ worth of stock and royalties based on those contracts.
The rapper’s attorneys argued that thanks to Flo’s promotion of Celsius, the company is now so successful that it has met key sales thresholds that entitle the rapper to the equivalent of a 1 percent stake in the business. Lawyers for Celsius says the sales thresholds hadn’t been reached and that Flo had already been paid “far in excess” of what they owed him.
The rapper’s attorneys told Billboard that their client won due to Celsius’ attempts to frame Flo’s suit as a greedy cash grab.
The lawyers told Billboard, “It was a matter of respect. He was due these shares, he worked for them, and he wasn’t going to just let it go.”
(LONDON) — Offices should rethink bringing cake into the workplace as it may pose the same harm to colleagues’ health as passive smoking, according to Professor Susan Jebb, chairwoman of the U.K. Food Standards Agency.
“We all like to think we’re rational, intelligent, educated people who make informed choices the whole time and we undervalue the impact of the environment,” Jebb told The Times.
She noted that while smoking and eating cake in the office have very different impacts on health, Jebb said workplaces can foster a “more successful” and “supportive” work environment through healthier food choices.
“With smoking, after a very long time, we have got to a place where we understand that individuals have to make some effort but that we can make their efforts more successful by having a supportive environment. But we still don’t feel like that about food.”
“If nobody brought in cakes into the office, I would not eat cakes in the day, but because people do bring cakes in, I eat them. Now, OK, I have made a choice, but people were making a choice to go into a smoky pub,” she told The Times.
The U.K. food regulatory agency and Jebb said she was speaking in a personal capacity and not for the organization.
“These comments reflect on her research in her role as Professor of Diet and Population Health at the University of Oxford and are not reflective of the FSA board or current and planned FSA policy,” the agency said in a statement Wednesday.
“I want to make it very clear that the views expressed in The Times article are not those of the FSA Board nor do they reflect current or planned FSA policy in any way whatsoever,” Jebb said in a statement Wednesday.
A 2019 study by the University of Cambridge found that cake was displayed in the main area of 70.9% of offices, and it appeared to influence employee dietary behavior. Over half of the respondents said they were less likely to eat office cake if it was displayed out of view.
Jebb also added that junk advertising may undermine people’s free will due to its influence.
“At the moment we allow advertising for commercial gain with no health controls on it whatsoever and we’ve ended up with a complete market failure because what you get advertised is chocolate and not cauliflower,” she told the outlet.
According to The Health Survey for England, 25.9% of adults are obese with men more likely to be overweight than women. In the United States, a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that 41.9% of adults are obese.
However, some studies have shown that cake in the office may have tremendous social benefits by cheering up the office environment and bringing colleagues together. Office treats like cakes, sweets and tarts are often brought to celebrate birthdays, office triumphs and anniversaries and birthdays.

In a press release, DeSantis, a Republican, said he is proposing legislation that will prevent employment decisions based on COVID-19 vaccination status and prevent schools or businesses from requiring face coverings.
The legislation would specifically prohibit COVID-19 vaccine passports in Florida; prohibit vaccine and mask requirements in Florida schools; prohibit masking requirements by businesses; and prohibit employees from being hired or fired based on whether or not they have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
These would extend a number of measures DeSantis signed in 2021, which he has previously called “unscientific” and “unnecessary,” which were set to expire in July.
“When the world lost its mind, Florida was a refuge of sanity, serving strongly as freedom’s linchpin,” DeSantis said in a statement. “These measures will ensure Florida remains this way and will provide landmark protections for free speech for medical practitioners.”
During a speech in Panama City, DeSantis criticized state-level and national-level efforts to reinstate mask and vaccine mandates, claiming these measures clash with personal freedom.
“It required us over the past few years to stand against major institutions in our society: the bureaucracy, the medical establishment, legacy media and even the president of the United States who, together, were working to impose a bio-medical security state on society,” he said.
Throughout the course of the pandemic, DeSantis has been outspoken about his opposition to lockdowns and closures.
The move was backed by Florida’s Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo. Since Ladapo assumed the position in September 2021, he has been accused by many experts of spreading misinformation on COVID-19 and promoting vaccine hesitancy.
In March 2022, Ladapo recommended healthy children in Florida not receive the COVID-19 vaccine, directly contradicting guidelines from the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
“As a health sciences researcher and physician, I have personally witnessed accomplished scientists receive threats due to their unorthodox positions,” Ladapo said in a statement. “However, many of these positions have proven to be correct, as we’ve all seen over the past few years. All medical professionals should be encouraged to engage in scientific discourse without fearing for their livelihoods or their careers.”
DeSantis, whose name has been floated as a possible GOP candidate in 2024, called for an investigation last month into whether Floridians were misled by pharmaceutical companies about the safety and side effects of COVID-19 vaccines.
The Florida Supreme Court agreed to DeSantis’s request for a grand jury, which will meet for one year before making a decision.
Liberal and conservative voters have been divided on COVID-19 vaccines and mandates since the shots were first rolled out.

(NEW YORK) — A forthcoming book by a former prosecutor could harm the ongoing criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump and his family real estate company, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Wednesday.
That investigation led to the recent conviction of the Trump Organization and appeared to accelerate again on Tuesday when Bragg met with Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal attorney, about the hush payment Cohen says he helped arrange to Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress who alleged a long-denied affair with Trump.
The book’s author, former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz, was assigned to the Trump case by then-District Attorney Cy Vance. Pomerantz and another senior prosecutor, Carey Dunne, quit last February over their disagreements with Bragg about how the case should proceed.
Pomerantz’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, announced last week that the book, entitled “People vs. Donald Trump: An Inside Account,” will be released next month.
Bragg’s office sent a letter to both Simon & Schuster and Pomerantz, expressing concern that the book could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
“Based on the pre-publication descriptions of his book and the benefit of current knowledge of the matter, but without access to the manuscript, this Office believes there is a meaningful risk that the publication will materially prejudice ongoing criminal investigations and related adjudicative proceedings,” read the letter, a copy of which was obtained by ABC News.
The letter was signed by Bragg’s general counsel, Leslie Dubeck, and requested 60 days to review the manuscript, which would delay the Feb. 7 publication date.
“The District Attorney’s interest here is to protect the integrity of this Office’s pending criminal investigations and proceedings regarding the former President,” the letter said. “The Office urges Mr. Pomerantz not to take any further steps that would damage an ongoing criminal investigation.”
In a statement provided to ABC News, Pomerantz said, “I am confident that all of my actions with respect to the Trump investigation, including the writing of my forthcoming book, are consistent with my legal and ethical obligations.”
Representatives for Simon & Schuster told ABC News in a statement, “We stand behind Mark Pomerantz and his book, People vs. Donald Trump, and look forward to sharing this important and timely work with readers when it is published on February 7.”
(NEW YORK) — An electrical substation in North Carolina has been damaged by gunfire, marking the third incident where a substation was damaged since November.
An EnergyUnited substation was damaged around 3 a.m. Tuesday, but there were no outages in the areas it serves: Trinity, Thomasville, and parts of Davidson County, south of Thomasville.
The FBI and local law enforcement are investigating the incident and there are currently no known suspects or motives.
This is the latest incident of an electrical substation being hit by gunfire in the state.
On Dec. 3, two Duke Energy stations in North Carolina’s Moore County were targeted by gunfire, causing about 45,000 customer outages.
There was another incident on Nov. 11, when a Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative station in Maysville, North Carolina, was vandalized, causing 12,000 customers to go without power.
It’s not immediately clear whether these incidents are related.
