Graham Nash and Bruce Hornsby are the latest musicians added to The Music of Paul McCartney, the tribute concert taking place March 15 at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
The show is the latest in the series of annual charity concerts New York City entrepreneur Michael Dorf has been organizing since 2004. Each year focuses on the music of a single well-known artist, with previous tribute concerts focusing on artists like The Who, Van Morrison, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones.
Other artists on this year’s bill include Peter Asher, a member of the vocal duo Peter & Gordon and brother of McCartney’s former girlfriend Jane Asher, along with Lyle Lovett, Ingrid Michaelson, Glen Hansard, Allison Russell, soul singer Bettye Lavette and Lake Street Drive.
The concert will raise money for organizations that provide music education programs and opportunities for underserved youth. So far the concert series has raised over $1.5 million. Information on tickets can be found at musicof.org.
Nominations for the 43rd annual Razzie Awards were announced, and judging by this year’s list, some rockers may want to stick to music and forget about acting.
The Razzie’s “honor” the worst movies and performances of the year, and this time Machine Gun Kelly, Mod Son and Thirty Seconds to Mars’ Jared Leto were called out for their bad acting.
MGK, born Colson Baker, earned a Worst Actor nod for the film Good Morning, while Mod Sun earned a Worst Supporting Actor nomination for the same flick. In addition, the pair earned nods for Worst Couple, Worst Directing and Worst Screenplay. The film was also nominated for Worst Picture.
Leto, who is just as famous for acting as he is for music, landed a nod in the Worst Actor category for Mobrius; the film also earned a Worst Picture nod.
“Winners” will be announced March 11, the day before the Academy Awards.
The Doors’ Robby Krieger and the late Ray Manzarek‘s estate are the latest artists to sell their music catalog, selling their interest in the legendary band’s catalog to Primary Wave Music. There’s no word on how much the deal was worth, but it includes The Doors’ recordings, trademarks, merchandise rights and income.
“After 58 years, and the most magical of times, I’ve decided to sell my share of The Doors to Primary Wave,” Krieger shares. “This will enable me to help the many charities I’ve been involved with, and some new ones too. I know Primary Wave cares about music, art, and about helping legacies go to even bigger levels.”
Manzarek’s widow, Dorothy,adds, “Ray and I spent a lot of time discussing the future of The Doors’ legacy, and how to handle things after he departed this plane. Our family has worked patiently to find the right partners to continue Ray’s lifelong efforts in protecting and promoting his art, and now we are happy to have finally come to an agreement with Primary Wave.”
Only the two members of The Doors have sold their interests to Primary Wave, though. The JimMorrison estate and drummer JohnDensmore still hold their interests in the band’s music and publishing.
Coldplay is bringing their Music of the Spheres tour back to North America. The band just announced a short West Coast run of the tour.
Coldplay has confirmed four shows, kicking off September 20 in Seattle, Washington, followed by September 22 in Vancouver, British Columbia, September 27 in San Diego, California, and September 30 in Los Angeles, with more cities to be announced.
All shows will feature special guests H.E.R and New Jersey artist 070 Shake.
Tickets go on sale for all shows January 27 at 10 a.m. PT, but there will be a special presale on January 26 at 10 a.m. PT for fans who previously purchased tickets to Coldplay’s canceled 2022 dates in Los Angeles. More information on the presale can be found at Ticketmaster.
(MONTEREY PARK, Calif.) — As investigators continue to search for answers in Saturday’s shooting at a dance studio that killed 10 people and wounded 10 others, the Monterey Park, Calif., community has come together to try and heal from this tragedy, according to community leaders.
The mass shooting comes as the community is still on edge over the recent years of anti-Asian harassment and violence in the country, Rep. Judy Chu, who represents the area in the House, told ABC News.
The congresswoman spoke with GMA 3 on Monday to reflect on the shooting and how the community is healing from the incident.
GMA 3: We want to give our sincere condolences to the city and, of course, to the families of all of the victims there. How is the community doing this morning? What are you hearing on the ground there?
REP. JUDY CHU: Well, it’s been a horrific 24 hours. People were so fearful and anxious about an active shooter being out there in the community. But finally, there was relief when he was found and surrounded by law enforcement, causing him to shoot himself. So my message to the community is: You are safe, there is no more active shooter. And it’s so important for people to heal and to go to the Lunar New Year celebrations that they have been looking forward to all year long. So it’s not going to be easy, but yes, we are beginning the healing process.
GMA 3:Again, our condolences to you and your community there. The suspect is seen stopping at a second dance studio in neighboring Alhambra. An individual there was able to disarm and preventing more harm. We don’t know the suspect’s motives just yet, but how important is it to you and the community that we find out?
CHU:I have many questions in my mind. I want to know what the motive is. I want to know whether he had a mental problem. I do understand that he does not have a criminal history, but I also want to know what the weapons were, whether they were illegal and then how he got them. And so we need to see what his background is.
What caused him to target the people? We do not know. Nonetheless, for him to do this right after we had our opening celebration of Lunar New Year was just horrific. There were thousands of people that were only one block away celebrating the — this — this very, very important holiday. And we had so many elected officials. It was a joyous time that immediately turned to tragedy.
GMA 3: The Asian American community has really experienced so much trauma by violent crimes, especially during the pandemic [in] the last few years. There were some early worries that this might be a hate crime, and while the suspect was an Asian man, we don’t know his motive just yet. What does it say that this was the first thought that came to a lot of people’s minds after an incident like this?
CHU:Well, the feelings of Asian Americans are very raw right now because we’ve just come from three years of anti-Asian hate due to COVID and there have been 11,500 anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents. There were so many incidents that we heard about at one point that every AAPI who walked out on the sidewalk wondered, will I be next? And so when those of us heard about this shooting, the first thing that came to our minds was, was this an anti-Asian hate crime? Well, it wasn’t. But still, the tragedy is overwhelming and these 10 lives should not have been lost, and especially at a time that should have been so joyous and should have been celebratory.
In fact, the reason that everybody was so enthusiastic about this Lunar New Year is that it was on hiatus for three years due to COVID. This was the first time it was being done in three years where everybody was together and in person. So it should have been a wonderful time for our community.
As is tradition, the morning before they could get the call they’ve always wanted when the Oscar nominations are revealed, come the nominations for an award no actor would want: the Golden Raspberry.
The Razzies just revealed their picks for the 43rd annual salute to the year’s worst movies and performances, and “leading” the pack is Netflix’s Marilyn Monroe movie Blonde.
The movie might have earned a 14-minute standing ovation at Cannes last year, but it earned eight nominations for The Razzies: A pair of Worst Supporting Actor nods for Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams; a Worst Screen Couple for director Andrew Dominik “& His Issues with Women”; and the Worst Screenplay and Worst remake-ripoff/sequel category for Dominik.
Interesting, lead Ana de Armas, who played Monroe, was spared.
Other films to get a bushel full of the ol’ raspberry were the stoner comedy Good Mourning with 7, as if a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes wasn’t enough.
Disney’s live-action Pinocchio remake earned six nominations, including Tom Hanks, who this year was singled out for both Worst Actor in that film and Worst Supporting Actor for Elvis.
And while Pete Davidson may be lucky with the ladies, his movies didn’t fare as well: His voicework for Marmaduke earned him a Worst Actor nomination, while Good Mourning scored him a matching Worst Supporting Actor nom.
The 43rd Razzie Award “winners” will be revealed on Oscars Eve – Saturday, March 11.

The 43rd Razzie “Winners” will be unveiled on “Oscar Eve” – Saturday, March 11th.
Nickelback is ready to hit the road. The band just announced dates for their Get Rollin’ Tour, featuring country star Brantley Gilbert on non-festival dates, along with up-and-coming country artist Josh Ross.
The tour kicks off June 12 in Quebec City, Canada, and hits the U.S. on June 30 in Auburn, Washington. They’ll be on tour most of the summer, with the trek wrapping August 30 in Belmont Park, New York.
Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. A complete list of dates can be found at Nickelback.com.
The tour is in support of Nickelback’s most recent album, Get Rollin’, which was their first album in five years. It dropped in November.
And to coincide with the tour announcement, Nickelback, who’ll be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the JUNO Awards on March 13, is set to perform on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday. The show airs on NBC at 3 p.m.
Brooks & Dunn will keep their Reboot Tour rolling into 2023, with Scotty McCreery opening all the dates.
“Last year, you all reminded us just how much fun it is to walk out on that stage and share the night with ya!” Kix Brooks says. “We love what we do, but we’re just surfing your wave … can’t wait!!”
“The Brooks and Dunn posse rides again,” Ronnie Dunn adds. “More excited to hit the big stage as we ever have been! Unbelievable band of friends … annnnnd YOU! Together, let’s rock the house!!”
Scotty calls the gig “a dream come true.”
The trek kicks off May 4 in Kansas City, Missouri, and wraps June 17 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Tickets go on sale this Friday.
The 2023 BRIT Awards, which are essentially the United Kingdom’s version of the Grammys, landed in hot water after the Artist of the Year nominations were announced — and didn’t include a single female singer.
Sam Smith spoke to the Sunday Timesabout the controversy, as well as the ceremony’s recent decision to combine the best male and female categories in favor of gender neutrality. Sam had supported the move then, but hopes more progress is made soon.
Only 42 percent of the nominees are women this year.
“It is a shame … Things are moving forward, but it’s obvious it’s not there yet,” Sam expressed. “From seeing that [best artist] list, there is still a long way to go.” The singer also noted, “There’s so much incredible female talent in the UK.”
Sam said it “should be easy … To celebrate everyone,” adding “it’s incredibly frustrating” to think the BRIT Awards seemingly favor male artists. For example, Little Mix was the first group of female singers to win Best Group — and that was in 2021.
“This is not just about artists getting awards. Awards are for kids watching on TV, thinking, ‘I can make music like this.’ When I was young, if I’d seen more queer people at these awards it would have lit my heart,” Sam said. “Awards are there to inspire.”
Sam also touched upon LGBTQ representation in the music industry and explained why they think it’s getting better.
“The more that people see that type of love with their friends or family members, the more they will enjoy films and music by queer people. But it is also about education. We need to educate everyone on what it is to be queer,” they said.
Sam’s new album, Gloria, arrives Friday, January 27.
James Taylor, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo are among the stars headlining the seventh annual Love Rocks NYC benefit concert, scheduled for March 9 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Other artists on the bill include Sheryl Crow, the John Mayer Trio, R&B legend Mavis Staples, alt-rocker St. Vincent, blues/rock singer/guitarist Gary Clark Jr., singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Stephen Marley.
Stephen Colbert, Bravo’s Andy Cohen, Saturday Night Live legend Chevy Chase and comedian/actress Phoebe Robinson will also appear at the event.
The show is a benefit for God’s Love We Deliver, which delivers meals to New Yorkers who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. This year, the charity expects to deliver more than 3 million meals, which are provided free of charge.
