Report: Britney Spears’ inner circle “concerned” for her, had planned an intervention

Britney Spears‘ inner circle is growing concerned about the singer’s behavior and had planned to stage an intervention.

People reports the intervention fell apart last minute when the pop star became suspicious. Although the plans fell through, sources claiming to be close to Britney say she met with a doctor on Wednesday and that it went well. At this time, it is not known what steps Britney will take following the alleged meeting.

Sources close to the singer told the outlet, “Britney has been acting increasingly erratically and those around her have grown more concerned … She is often up all night, sleeps during [the] day and has a lot of anger.”

Another source described Britney’s situation as “very difficult” and said it is “absolutely chaotic” behind the scenes. “Everyone had hoped Britney could be convinced to seek treatment before things got any worse but they knew it wouldn’t be easy,” they said. “She’s been going through a lot and has been increasingly combative.”

As for Britney’s husband, Sam Asghari, the insiders say he is “being as supportive as possible.”

TMZ was first to report news of the planned intervention.

Last month, fans called the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to ask deputies to perform a welfare check on the singer after she deactivated her Instagram, which she’s done several times. Authorities reportedly made contact with Britney and determined she was not in any danger.

Last November marked a year since Britney’s conservatorship was terminated. She had been placed under the care of her father, Jamie Spears, following her 2008 mental health crisis.

Since her conservatorship was terminated, Britney has regularly spoken out about the anger she feels toward her family and has made several serious allegations against them.

Last year, Ryan Reynolds confirmed that he, Colin Hanks and Ryan’s Maximum Effort company were working on a documentary tribute to a fellow funny Canadian, the late John Candy. “Expect tears,” the Deadpool star said at the time, in a message that was retweeted by Candy’s daughter, Jennifer, and his son, Chris.

Now Variety is reporting Amazon is circling the project for distribution.

Reynolds has spoken highly of Candy in the past; in 2019, he tweeted a “small tribute” to mark the 25th anniversary of the 43-year-old star’s passing in 1994, calling him a comedic genius and a treasure.

Hanks, of course, is the son of Tom Hanks, Candy’s co-star in Ron Howard‘s 1984 hit Splash, one of a string of Candy hits that include Stripes, Spaceballs, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Cool Runnings and Uncle Buck.

Variety says the project will delve not only into Candy’s big- and small-screen work — he cut his teeth as part of Canada’s legendary SCTV — but also the famously private comedian’s personal life. The documentary will utilize “never-before-seen home videos, archives and interviews” with Candy’s widow, Rose, and their two children, according to the trade.

Sam Hunt‘s serving up another slice of rural heartbreak with his new track, which arrives Thursday night.

“I saw your mama at Walmart with your little girl,” he sings in a social snippet of the song named after the discount mecca.

“She had your eyes and your smile/ She had your nose and your lips,” the lyrics continue. “Somewhere in our little small town/ Small talk girl/ Lost in the grocery aisle/ Holding a bag of some chips/ I realized that everything happens for a reason/ Losing your love ain’t the end of the world.”

Sam shares one clip on Twitter. If you want to hear a little more, check out the alternate on Instagram.

“Walmart” seems to continue with the back-to-his-roots themes in Sam’s hit “Water Under the Bridge” and the track “Start Nowhere,” which he released in November.

Late last year, Hunt told ABC Audio he has quite a collection of tunes he wrote during the pandemic, but said he wasn’t sure if he’ll put them together as an album, preferring instead to release them one by one as they’re ready. His last collection was 2020’s SOUTHSIDE, which came six years after his debut, Montevallo.

REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin is one of the rockers set to appear on Dolly Parton’s upcoming rock album, Rock Star, and he’s spilled the tea on the track they’ve recorded together.

While chatting with the Totally 80s podcast, Cronin revealed he and Dolly recorded a cover of the band’s classic “Keep On Loving You,” although he notes their version is a “dark duet.”

In the song Cronin sings about his woman’s infidelity and his decision to stay with her, but says he realized,  “I kind of portrayed myself as more of the good guy than perhaps I was.”

“Perhaps it takes more than one snake in the grass, ‘all coiled up and hissing,’ to tango — if you catch my drift. That’s the reality of the song, you know?” he explains. “So, it gave me the idea that Dolly could sing the first verse, and in the first verse, I’m cheating on her. But then I take the second verse, and in the second verse, I go, ‘Oh yeah? Well, I know all about those men!’”

The two then come together and sing the chorus in harmony, but he notes, “It just slays me, because that’s how the song was meant to be performed; I just didn’t realize it until Dolly called me the other day. So that’s how we’re doing it, and I’m just so stoked.”

Even billionaire pop superstars have to juggle work and family. Rihanna, who welcomed her first child in May 2022, will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday. At a press conference on Thursday, she explained why she decided to take on the challenge, despite not having performed live in years.

“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world. You can do anything,” she told Apple Music’s Nadeska Alexis. “And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. So as scary as that was — because I haven’t been onstage in seven years — there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. And it’s important for me to do this this year, it’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”

She added that representation is “a big part of why this is important for me to do this show,” saying she wants to represent immigrants, Barbados and Black women everywhere.

“That’s key: for people to see the possibilities. And I’m honored to be here. I’m honored to be doing this this year,” she said.

Despite the physical challenges of a nonstop 13-minute extravaganza, Rihanna said the hardest aspect of designing the show was trying to figure out how to cram “17 years of work into 13 minutes.”

“Deciding how to maximize 13 minutes, but also celebrate — that’s what this show’s going to be,” she noted. “It’s going to be a celebration of my catalog, in the best way that we could have put it together.”

While the Fenty mogul didn’t say anything about a new album or tour, she did talk about where she is musically.

“Musically, I’m feeling open. I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, creating things that are new, things that are different … I just want to play. I want to have fun. I want to have fun with music.”

The Super Bowl airs on Fox Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Harrison Ford flexes his vocal chops singing Sugar Ray’s “Every Morning” in new ‘Shrinking’ episode

There are several ways to describe Harrison Ford, but “singer” isn’t commonly one of them. However, a new Shrinking episode might change a few minds … maybe.

In a sneak peek of the upcoming episode, set to premiere Friday, February 10, on Apple TV+, the legendary actor throws it back by singing a beloved ’90s alt-rock song.

The clip posted by E! starts with Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades exchanging jabs with Jessica Williams‘ Gaby, a fellow therapist who offers him a ride to work. Before he jumps into the car, he asks, “Can we play that song I like?”

The song in question is Sugar Ray‘s 1999 hit “Every Morning.” Unfortunately for Ford, his vocals aren’t quite on par with Mark McGrath‘s.

Sugar Ray has yet to respond to Ford’s singing capabilities.

“Every Morning” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to #1 on four other Billboard charts — Adult Alternative Songs, Adult Top 40, Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Top 40. To date, the song is the band’s highest-charting single.

Shrinking, which features a theme song sung by Death Cab for Cutie‘s Ben Gibbard, premieres new episodes every Friday on Apple TV+.

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Harrison Ford is winning praise for showing off his comedy chops in the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, but he goes even further in a new clip posted by E!. In the snippet from the forthcoming episode, Ford also shows off his singing ability.

For better or worse.

The scene has Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades exchanging “uncomfortable” jabs with Gaby, a fellow therapist who offers him a ride to work. That’s when he asks Jessica Williams‘ character if she “can play that song that I like,” which turns out to be Sugar Ray‘s “Every Morning.”

Although Gaby rolls her eyes at the request, moments later they’re duetting, even trading a high-five at the lyric mentioning a one-night stand.

The show itself may seem an out of character choice for the Indiana Jones actor, but Ford insists it all came down to the script from two-time Ted Lasso Emmy winner Brett Goldstein.

The 80-year-old actor explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “After two years of sitting on my a** during COVID, and waiting … for Indiana Jones to start … I wanted to do different things. So [Shrinking] came along, and then, very quickly after that, 1923 came along. I took the job without a script on both of them, on faith that the people who created the projects were going to deliver me a good script.”

He added, “I’m excited to do another season of both.”

Show co-creator Bill Lawrence, another Ted Lasso vet, insists to the trade Ford has the chops — for comedy, if not singing alterna-pop. “Initially, your thought is, ‘OK, you’re gonna write Harrison Ford gruff and everyone will do comedy around him.’ A couple of episodes in, you’re like … ‘Harrison Ford’s here to make comedy, not to react to comedy.'”

Hardcore fans probably already know Cronin’s been on Dolly’s radar for some time: she covered the band’s “Time for Me to Fly” as the opening track on 1989’s White Limozeen.

The Rolling Stones are the subject of a new Vevo-hosted YouTube series that launched on Thursday. The Rolling Stones Chronicles, co-produced by BBC Motion Gallery and ABKCO, is comprised of six documentary shorts, with each focused on a different Stones hit from the ’60s.

Each clip features interviews with the band, along with historical documentary footage of world events that were taking place at the time.

The weekly series kicks off with The Last Time (EP1), soundtracked by the top five single of the same name, which reveals how early rock ‘n’ roll and Chicago blues influenced the band. In addition to archival interviews with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it features footage of B.B. King, Little Richard and others.

The Rolling Stones Chronicles puts the band’s music in context with history,” says Robin Klein, executive producer of the series. “While they were very much of that time, The Rolling Stones themselves served as a vehicle for, and reflected and inspired change.”

Future episodes will be set against such Rolling Stones classics as “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “She’s A Rainbow,” “Street Fighting Man” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” wrapping March 16 with an episode featuring “Gimme Shelter.”
