Meghan Trainor knows the sex of her baby: “I’m prepared this time”

Meghan Trainor recently announced she’s expecting baby #2 with husband Daryl Sabara, and the singer already knows the baby’s gender and has picked a name.

“Everything’s done,” she told People. “We know the gender. We know the name. We know the full name … I’ve already painted the room. I’m prepared this time.”

Meghan said her little one, 1-year-old Riley, taught her the valuable lesson of going in prepared. She explained, “I never had a game plan with Riley, and then he was breeched at the end, so I didn’t have a choice. But this one, I do have a choice so far, or my doctor’s like, ‘What are you thinking?’ And I’m like, ‘I got no idea. I’ve got no idea.'”

“My brother’s like, ‘Push this one out, see what happens.’ I was like, ‘I just know what C-sections are now,'” she continued. Meghan joked she is comfortable with that type of birthing experience, adding, “I’ve done that. I know I can survive that.”

There are two scenarios Meghan wants to avoid. “My worst nightmare is that I push or I am in labor for two days straight and then I do an emergency C-section,” she said. “Both options are not fun. So I’m back and forth every day, but my doctor’s like, ‘We have time.'”

Meghan also told the outlet she knew she was pregnant before taking a test because of the intensity of her food cravings. “This pregnancy, I’m hungry to the point where I was like, ‘Is it twins?’ But it’s not twins, sadly. I wanted twins,” she remarked.

She noted her husband is a twin and, while she’s hoped for twin babies, Sabara told her, “‘We’re not going to do that. We’re not going to.'”

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith joins AC/DC cover band at Australian bar

Red Hot Chili Peppers are headlining stadiums during their current tour of Australia, but drummer Chad Smith took a brief detour to play a much, much smaller venue.

In between shows, Smith showed up at Australia’s Cherry Bar to play with a local AC/DC cover band. According to a Facebook post by the Cherry, only 17 people were in the bar to see the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer play.

The Cherry seems to be the go-to place Down Under for big name rockers to stop by. Others who’ve made surprise appearances at the bar include Axl Rose and Arctic Monkeys.

RHCP’s Australian tour, which also features Post Malone on the bill, will wrap up Sunday. They’ll launch a U.S. tour in April.

Roger Waters is rerecording ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’

Roger Waters has been in the news a lot lately because of his views on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. But in case you missed it, in a recent interview with the German magazine Berliner Zeitung, he dropped some big news about his music.

The article, which has been translated on Waters’ website, reveals that he is rerecording Pink Floyd’s classic album The Dark Side of the Moon, which next month will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

“The new concept is meant to reflect on the meaning of the work, to bring out the heart and soul of the album, musically and spiritually,” he tells the mag. “I’m the only one singing my songs on these new recordings, and there are no rock and roll guitar solos.”

For those who’d rather just listen to the original, Pink Floyd is set to mark the album’s 50th anniversary with a special The Dark Side of the Moon deluxe box set on March 24.

Elton John “overjoyed” to be returning as host of annual Academy Awards Viewing Party

Elton John is “overjoyed” to host his Oscars viewing party this year after missing out on last year’s festivities.

The singer unveiled plans for the 31st annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, announcing he will return as host alongside husband David Furnish.

Actors Eric McCormack and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez will serve as this year’s special guests, while British singer Rina Sawayama has been tapped to perform. Elton and Rina previously teamed up for the song “Chosen Family,” which was featured on his compilation album The Lockdown Sessions.

More celebrity guests will be announced in the weeks ahead.

“I am overjoyed to be reuniting with old and new friends on one of my favourite nights of the year, especially after missing last year’s viewing party due to an unfortunate clash of schedules with my ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour,” he said in a statement. Last year marked the first time Sir Elton was unable to attend his own viewing part.

Elton’s statement continued, “As always, I am so appreciative of every attendee, donor and sponsor who continues to support the Foundation’s work across the globe in the fight to end AIDS. With such meaningful generosity, we can make a healthier and more inclusive world.”

Furnish added in his own statement, “With rising new HIV infections and the tragic and needless loss of lives in many parts of the world, the support of our work is more crucial than ever.”

Elton’s viewing parties began in 1992 and so far have raised close to $100 million for his foundation, which aims to destigmatize AIDS, fund treatments and find a cure.

This year’s celebration will be held Sunday, March 12.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer says House committee probe not ‘legitimate’ in opening salvo

(WASHINGTON) — The Republican-led House Oversight Committee and the legal team representing President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, have exchanged their first direct communications in the opening salvo of what is expected to be a heated back-and-forth over congressional oversight of the president and his family.

Rep. James Comer, the panel’s chairman, confirmed in a tweet that the committee had sent letters requesting “documents, records, and communications” from Hunter Biden as well as from Eric Schwerin, his former business partner, and from James Biden, the president’s brother.

“The American people deserve transparency and accountability about the Biden family’s influence peddling,” Comer said. President Biden has said that he and his son never discussed Hunter’s foreign business dealings.

Abbe Lowell, an attorney for Hunter Biden, fired back at Comer’s request early Thursday. In a letter sent to Comer, he argued that the committee “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose and oversight basis for requesting such records from Mr. Biden, who is a private citizen.”

“Peddling your own inaccurate and baseless conclusions under the guise of a real investigation, turns the Committee into ‘Wonderland,’ and you into the Queen of Hearts shouting, ‘sentence first, verdict afterwards,'” Lowell wrote.

Lowell, who claimed Comer has already “shamelessly maligned” his client, also offered to meet with the committee “to see whether Mr. Biden has information that may inform some legitimate legislative purpose and be helpful to the Committee.”

The Republican-led oversight panel has made its investigation of the Biden family a centerpiece of its responsibilities in the new Congress. Thursday’s back-and-forth came a day after former Twitter executives testified before the committee that the social media company made a mistake in blocking users from sharing a controversial 2020 New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The president’s son also remains the subject of a long-running federal probe into whether he paid adequate taxes on millions of dollars of income, including money he made from multiple overseas business ventures.

The younger Biden has repeatedly said he is cooperating with investigators and remains “100% certain” that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.

On Wednesday, President Biden dismissed the Oversight Committee’s probe in an interview with PBS NewsHour.

“[The] public’s not going to pay attention to that,” he said. “If the only thing they can do is make up things about my family, it’s not going to go very far.”

Depeche Mode releases new song, “Ghosts Again,” details upcoming ’Memento Mori’ album

Depeche Mode has premiered a new song called “Ghosts Again.”

The track, which the “Enjoy the Silence” outfit first teased last week, is the first preview of the upcoming Depeche Mode album Memento Mori, their first following the death of member Andy Fletcher last May.

“To me, ‘Ghosts Again’ just captures this perfect balance of melancholy and joy,” says frontman Dave Gahan.

“Ghosts Again” is available now via digital outlets and is accompanied by a video streaming now on YouTube.

Along with the new tune, Depeche Mode has confirmed the release date for Memento Mori: March 24. They’ll launch their previously announced U.S. tour on March 23 in Sacramento, California.

Alicia Silverstone spoofs ‘Clueless’, the ‘Breaking Bad’ boys return and more celebs star in 2023 Super Bowl ads

Super Bowl commercials are usually star-packed affairs, and this year’s big game will be no different. Considering a 30-second ad this year costs companies $6.5 million, they’re pulling out all the stops to get consumers’ attention. And to save a bit of money, some brands are already previewing their spots online.

Bud Light nabbed Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh, for a commercial that shows the actor trying to make the most of cheesy “hold” music, with the actor showing off some dance moves to the canned beat while he pops open a can.

Alicia Silverstone reprises her Clueless character, Cher, complete with her unmistakable yellow plaid skirt and jacket combo, for a spot promoting online shopping destination Rakuten. Her co-star Elisa Donovan‘s Amber also returns as the pair step back behind the classroom debate podium to discuss responsible shopping.

Jon Hamm and Brie Larson can literally be found in a fridge, poking fun at their food-synonymous surnames for Hellman’s, with Pete Davidson later chowing down on a ham and brie sandwich. “He really is everywhere,” Hamm says of the SNL vet, who vows, “I’m gonna eat you guys.”

Succession Emmy winner Brian Cox, tennis legend Serena Williams and NFL quarterback Tony Romo spoof Caddyshack in a golf-themed Michelob Ultra commercial that’s already airing in preview form on TV.

And speaking of Emmy winners, Brian Cranston and Aaron Paul reprise their respective Breaking Bad characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in a spoof of the show promoting the chip PopCorners. “You’re an artist!” Jesse proclaims after tasting them. “Actually, Jesse, it’s just basic ingredients,” Cranston replies, sending up his character’s description of making crystal meth as “basic chemistry.”

Missy Elliott talks Doritos Super Bowl ad, 2015 halftime show and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination

Missy Elliott‘s new Doritos ad with Jack Harlow will air this Super Bowl Sunday. Ahead of the big day, she reflected on the fun they had while filming the commercial.

“He was just so sweet, so kind, and respectable,” she tells Yahoo Entertainment of Jack. “We had a lot of fun.”

“If anything, we spent more time laughing and just messing up the lines and stuff like that,” she continues. “I said if they had bloopers, it would be funny to get a chance to see that the backstory behind this whole Doritos commercial.”

The ad, which also features Sir Elton John, marks Missy’s latest Super Bowl-related gig, following her appearance on Katy Perry‘s halftime performance in 2015.

“Katy, I owe her everything, because she could have done it solo,” Missy says when reflecting on the moment. “She has enough hits to have done that all by herself … She didn’t have to share that. She was on fire.”

The rapper assumed she’d be invited to perform her verse on “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” but was asked to do three of her own records, as well.

If ever she headlines, Missy’s thinking aliens and a spaceship. “We most definitely bringing Area 51 to the Super Bowl,” she says.

She also discussed her recent nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2023. “There haven’t been any female MCs. And so, to be the first, it is not even about necessarily me — more so that doors will be opened for women, because we do work hard,” Missy says. “If I’m blessed to be inducted, I most definitely am going to give it up for all of those women before me … I’m never going to just hog the credit.”

Alicia Keys releases music video for “Stay” featuring Lucky Daye

Alicia Keys has dropped the music video for “Stay,” her collaboration with fellow R&B star Lucky Daye.

The visual, released in time for Valentine’s Day, finds the singers performing their respective verses on a sandy beach by the water.

“Stay” was one of the additional tracks on Alicia’s Keys II, the deluxe version of her double album Keys. Keys II also features an appearance from Brent Faiyaz, whom she collaborated with on “Trillions.”

Babyface comes out with new song ahead of Super Bowl gig

Babyface is back with a new song, his first solo single since 2015’s Return of the Tender Lover. Released Thursday, “As a matter of fact” also marks the release of his first track under the P Music Group Label.

The song, co-produced by Tommy Brown, finds him singing about the emotions experienced when falling for a woman he just met.

“I just met my life/ for the first time I just met the prettiest girl/ in the whole wide world/ I just met my sunshine/ ooh sunshine,” he sings on the song he wrote himself. “And she lights up the world because she’s so fine/ so fly, all day, all night.”

“As a matter of fact” comes days before Babyface’s performance of “America the Beautiful” at Super Bowl LVII, which he’s dedicating to his late mother. He’s partnered with Shine The Light On for two limited-edition hoodies for the performance and will donate a portion of the proceeds to Keep Memory Alive, an organization his mother was involved with. The org funds research and programs dedicated to improving the lives of those with brain disorders like Alzheimer’s.

Super Bowl LVII takes place Sunday. Two days later, Babyface will embark on Anita Baker‘s The Songstress tour.
