The rapper revealed on Instagram Thursday that her new single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” is dropping March 3. She also shared the cover art for the song, which features Nicki posing in a restaurant kitchen with a two-toned pink and red hairstyle, vintage Jean Paul Gaultier colorful dress and Saint Laurent heels.
In another post, she teased the song’s video with a behind-the-scenes snippet shot in Trinidad and Tobago, where Nicki’s been spending time for the island country’s 2023 Carnival.
“Red Ruby Da Sleeze” marks Nicki’s first solo release since 2022’s “Super Freaky Girl,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Nicki’s radio show, Queen Radio, is also back on March 3.
Britney Spears slammed those who “always spread lies” about her.
Taking to Instagram Thursday, she shared a clip from The Andy Griffith Show episode “Opie’s Newspaper,” where a young boy resorts to printing scandalous stories because they sell better.
The clip Britney posted contains the line, “You don’t circulate stories that are mean and unkind about people! There’s too many other stories to put in. Nice stories!”
“The constant lies from the media and TMZ have felt like borderline harassment … it’s extremely disturbing, due to the fact of how incredibly important it is at this time in my life to be supported and respected,” Britney wrote in the caption.
“Also, the way the news has always spread lies about me is incredibly heartbreaking,” she added. “I meditate over hope and excitement for my future !!! I have transformed my whole life with the elimination of my conservatorship and I deserve respect !!!”
She said she finds it “embarrassing” to have to comment on the issue “because of how completely outrageous what’s being said.” Britney closed that she has a “right to protect myself from the cruelty of the outside world.”
The post follows a report from earlier this month that Britney’s inner circle had planned on staging an intervention to address allegedly concerning behavior. The singer and her husband, Sam Asghari, denied the story.
In addition, TMZ claimed in January the singer had a “meltdown” at an upscale California restaurant. A staff member reportedly from the eatery debunked the story by telling Page Sixanother patron taunted the singer by continually recording her even though she “was understandably upset.”
Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was handed another legal defeat on Thursday, when he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for a rape in Los Angeles that reportedly took place in 2013.
The sentence will be served consecutively to a 23-year prison sentence he is currently serving in New York for criminal sexual assault and third-degree rape.
The judge denied Weinstein a new trial during Thursday’s hearing, following a motion from his defense that argued his conviction was based on the improper exclusion of evidence and flawed jury instructions.
A Los Angeles jury found Weinstein guilty of three of seven counts, including one count of rape of a woman identified as Jane Doe 1, late last year. Weinstein faces up to 18 years in prison.
Weinstein was accused by four women of assaulting them in hotels between 2004 and 2013 in Los Angeles. He faced two counts of rape and five counts of sexual assault.
The 70-year-old former movie executive pleaded not guilty and has said all the encounters were consensual.
Following his conviction for rape, Jane Doe 1 said in part, “Harvey Weinstein forever destroyed a part of me that night in 2013, and I will never get that back. The criminal trial was brutal and Weinstein’s lawyers put me through hell on the witness stand, but I knew I had to see this through to the end, and I did.”
The first trailer for Louis Tomlinson‘s documentary is here, and it previews how the singer didn’t see a career for himself outside of One Direction.
In the trailer for All Of Those Voices, which will show in select cinemas on March 22, Louis admits, “I thought, for me, it was the band or nothing. It was hard for me to imagine on my own.”
He continues, “I didn’t see a way back — not even musically — just to do anything.” Those insecurities didn’t last long, with Louis narrating how he started to see his own potential and feel ready to start his solo career.
“I finally feel worthy of where I am and what I’m doing,” Louis says.
The upcoming documentary will tell Louis’ life story and features never-before-seen home videos, as well as glimpses of his 2022 world tour.
As Mastodon begins to work on new music again, guitarist Bill Kelliher has turned to Turnstile for inspiration.
Speaking with Guitar.com, Kelliher shares how the “Holiday” outfit reflects the kind of “rapid-fire” songs that he’s been working on to follow 2021’s Hushed and Grim.
“I want to write music that’s really f***ing heavy and to the point,” Kelliher says. “I want it to sound like Mastodon but steer away from the long, drawn-out songs. I feel like we’ve been on that kind of kick for a while, and I want to move on to something a little more tangible.”
“I’ve been listening to a lot of Turnstile, and their last record, Glow On, to me, is f***ing great,” he continues. “I just love their guitars, and their production of it sounds great. Their songwriting is really good. It reminds me of Bad Brains, but if they were more modern, with some Jane’s Addiction mixed in.”
In addition to experimenting with new tunes, Kelliher and Mastodon are gearing up to hit the road on a co-headlining tour with Gojira, kicking off in April.
Death Cab for Cutie has shared another preview of the band’s upcoming Asphalt Meadows (Acoustic) album with the unplugged version of the song “Foxglove Through the Clearcut.”
The updated recording’s stripped-down arrangement puts an even greater emphasis on Ben Gibbard‘s spoken-word vocals. You can listen to it now via digital outlets.
Asphalt Meadows (Acoustic) will be released March 10. As its title suggests, the collection features acoustic reworkings of each song off Death Cab’s new Asphalt Meadows album, which was released last September. It also includes a bonus cover of the Low song “The Plan.”
Death Cab is about to launch a European tour in support of Asphalt Meadows, and will return to the U.S. for a headlining trek in May. In September, the group will link up with Gibbard’s other band The Postal Service for a co-headlining tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their respective 2003 albums, Transatlanticism and Give Up.
As previously reported, Neal Schon teased a “special surprise” at Journey’s 50th anniversary tour stop in Austin, Texas, with many fans guessing it would be an appearance by original keyboardist Gregg Rolie. Well, it turns out they were right.
Blabbermouth.net reports Rolie made a guest appearance at the Moody Center ATX Wednesday night, performing early Journey tunes like “Just the Same Way,” “Of A Lifetime,” “Feeling That Way” and “Anytime.”
Schon and Rolie, who both played in Santana, also teamed up for a cover of “Black Magic Woman,” the Fleetwood Mac song that Santana covered for his album Abraxas. The performance included a guest appearance by Steve Lukather of Toto, the tour’s opening act.
“I just wanna say: Fifty years?” Rolie told the crowd. “Fifty years of one band going through changes, but it’s like a runaway freight train that just keeps going with no brakes.”
Rolie was Journey’s original lead singer and keyboardist back in 1973, when the group formed back in San Francisco; he appeared on their first six albums. In 1977, Rolie was replaced as lead singer by Steve Perry; he left the group in 1980.
Lewis Capaldi revealed last year that he was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. At a recent concert, he was overcome by a flare-up of tics which briefly stopped him from singing, so his fans stepped in to help.
According to a fan video taken during his Tuesday show in Frankfurt, Germany, the singer tried getting through performing “Someone You Loved” but had to stop because his shoulder and head wouldn’t stop jerking.
His fans continued singing for him and carried on the song while Lewis watched and then appeared to throw guitar picks to his fans.
Lewis hasn’t addressed what happened, but he previously took to TikTok to speak about his diagnosis and how it affects his concerts.
He explained in January that while his movements “sort of look a bit uncomfortable,” he said his tics aren’t “an issue in the slightest.”
“I’m absolutely fine … This happens when I get, like, tired, nervous, excited, whatever. It just gets more intense,” Lewis explained. He also joked fans should buy tickets to his shows so they can “come see me twitch live and in person.”
