Britney Spears takes nearly million loss in sale of Calabasas mansion

Britney Spears has found a buyer for the Calabasas, California, mansion she bought in June, and reportedly lost roughly $2 million in the final sale.

Dirt reports the home was sold for $10.1 million — compared to the $11.8 million she put down over the summer. According to sale records, the home was purchased by personal injury attorney Ezekiel Tyson Jr., who is said to be a veteran real estate investor.

It’s reported Britney didn’t live in the home for very long, so no renovation or remodeling projects were started during her brief ownership. No reason has been officially provided for why the singer decided to put the property back on the market so quickly.

As previously reported, the seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion came with a wine cellar, 10-seat movie theater, hand-carved fireplaces, gourmet kitchen, patio complete with a barbecue center, gym, 55-foot pool with tiered waterfalls, spa and many other luxurious amenities.

As for where Britney is living now, she and husband Sam Asghari moved back to the home she purchased in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2015.

Pulp bassist Steve Mackey has died at age 56.

“Our beloved friend & bass player Steve Mackey passed away this morning,” Pulp wrote in a Facebook post Thursday. “Our thoughts are with his family & loved ones.”

Mackey joined Pulp in 1988, and the band became a fixture of the ’90s Britpop scene, along with Oasis, Blur and Suede, thanks to songs including “Common People.” He remained with the group until their breakup in 2002 and took part in their reunion from 2011 to 2013.

Pulp announced in 2022 that they were getting back together again for shows in 2023, though Mackey elected not to take part.

“I’ve decided to continue the work I’m engaged in – music, filmmaking and photography projects – and will not be joining [Pulp] for these … shows just announced,” Mackey said at the time.

Mackey’s work outside of Pulp included producing songs for artists including Florence + the Machine and Arcade Fire.

Looks like those rumors that Dua Lipa is dating filmmaker Romain Gavras might be true.

On Tuesday, following a report by the British tabloid The Sun last month that claimed Gavras, 41, and Dua, 27, were romantically involved, Dua was photographed holding hands with Gavras in Paris. E! reports that the two were seen leaving the Saint Laurent Paris Fashion Week show together. They were previously seen together at a BAFTA afterparty.

The Paris-born Gavras has directed music videos like Kanye West‘s “No Church in the Wild” and movies like The World Is Yours.

Dua’s two-year relationship with model Anwar Hadid ended in 2021, and last October, she said on her Dua Lipa: At Your Service podcast, “This is the first year I’ve not been in a relationship for a very long time. It’s been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish.”

(CHICAGO) — A Chicago police officer has been shot and killed while responding to a call about a person with a firearm, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The officer was shot multiple times Wednesday while exchanging gunfire with a suspect, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said during a news conference.

The slain officer, identified as Andres Vasquez-Lasso, “died while protecting Chicago and its people,” the department tweeted.

He was on the force for five years, Brown said.

The suspect, who police say is an 18-year-old, was shot in the head and is critically injured, Brown said.

“Every officer in this police department, and for that matter, every officer in this country is grieving today,” Brown said.

“If you see an officer tonight, or the next day, or the day after that, thank them for their service,” Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot added.

The fatal shooting came hours after Brown announced he would be resigning from the police department.

Lana Del Rey was honored at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards, which were held Wednesday in Los Angeles.

The “Summertime Sadness” artist received the Visionary Award, which was presented by last year’s Woman of the Year winner, Olivia Rodrigo.

“I think the word visionary could have been exchanged with any word when you’re up here,” Del Rey said during her acceptance speech. “But if you were wondering, for my fans, I don’t exactly have a long-term vision at all, but if you were curious, I am very, very happy to be a female singer, that is a wonderful feat.”

“When I released my first album 14 years ago, the waters were not quite as warm,” she continued. “So I’m really happy for everyone who feels like it’s a wonderful time in the culture to be themselves and to express themselves. It didn’t feel that way in 2008. And I’m so grateful to be in the best company I’ve ever been in.”

Meanwhile, Phoebe Bridgers has been named one of TIME magazine‘s 2023 Women of the Year. Other honorees include Cate Blanchett, Angela Bassett and Quinta Brunson.

Bridgers will perform at the TIME Women of the Year Gala, taking place on International Women’s Day, March 8, in Los Angeles.

(NEW YORK) — When the suspect in the University of Idaho murders was taken into custody, a knife and a Glock 22 gun were among the items seized by law enforcement at his family home, according to a newly released search warrant.

Bryan Kohberger was arrested in his home state of Pennsylvania on Dec. 30, 2022, after a six-week search for a suspect in the gruesome quadruple slaying.

Also among the items seized at his family’s Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, home on the day of his arrest were a pocket knife, a phone, computers, black face masks, several pairs of black gloves, black hats, a black mask, dark clothing and dark boots.

One of the two roommates who survived told police she saw a man in black clothes and a mask walking past her in the house where the four murders took place.

Kohberger is accused of stabbing to death roommates Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, as well as Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, in the girls’ off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho, in the early hours of Nov. 13, 2022.

At the time of the murders, Kohberger was a Ph.D. student in the criminal justice program at nearby Washington State University. A criminal psychology book was also seized from his family’s home.

In December, Kohberger and his father drove from Washington to Pennsylvania for the holidays. The documents released Thursday also show the seats, gas and brake pedals and dozens of other items were taken from the white Hyundai they drove across the country, which police also placed at the crime scene on the night of the slayings.

Kohberger, who is in custody in Idaho, has not yet entered a plea.

SZA was named Woman of the Year at the Billboard Woman of the Year Awards Wednesday night in LA. In her speech, she spoke about wanting to serve others and being open to what the universe wants.

“I think sometimes there’s a misconception where everybody always feels like … I have a lot of confidence,” she told the audience, adding, “I used to feel like I didn’t belong because I don’t always feel like that.”

“But I realized that the key is to stay open and available for whatever the universe or God wants to do with your life,” she continued.

She added, “I really just want my life to be more than music, to be more than just an artist. I want to serve others.” She said she wants to say “yes to everything that’s scary, to everything that feels like it’s not for you or where you don’t belong.”

She concluded, “I want to encourage everybody to continue to be inspired and just stay available. You don’t have to be confident or even know that you are the one … you just have to say yes to the possibility … thank you all for saying yes to me.”

Kim Petras performed her latest single, “brrr,” and was honored with the Chartbreaker Award. In her speech, she thanked Billboard for “inviting her into this room,” adding, “Growing up I would always kinda question what rooms I would be put into … I’m just really grateful it’s this one.”

As the first openly transgender woman to be honored at the event, she drew applause by saying, “People should be able to decide what to do with their bodies, to reach true equality — it’s very important.”

Olivia Rodrigo presented Lana Del Rey with the Visionary Award; other honorees included LattoBecky GRosalía and TWICE.

(STANTON COUNTY, Neb.) — A Nebraska Sheriff’s office cited two men for allegedly hunting a bald eagle with the intention of cooking and eating the national bird.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Wood Duck Recreation Area in Stanton County in eastern Nebraska at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Law enforcement found two men – Ramiro Hernandez-Tziquin, 20 and Domingo Zetino-Hernandez, 20 – in possession of a dead bald eagle.

The two men, who live in Norfolk, Nebraska but are Honduran nationals, said they had not only shot and killed the bird but also intended to cook and eat the eagle, authorities said.

The Sheriff’s office cited both men for unlawful possession of the eagle, and Hernandez-Tziquin was also charged for not having a driver’s license.

“More serious charges are possible as the investigation into the unlawful killing continues,” a statement from Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said. The Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act federally prohibits killing a bald eagle.

Nebraska Game and Parks took custody of the rifle used to kill the eagle as well as the bird’s carcass.

While the number of bald eagles severely declined through the 20th century and were classified as federally endangered in 1978, the species made a comeback both nationally and in Nebraska.

The number of active nests has increased every year since 1991 in Nebraska according to Nebraska Game and Parks. In 2012, the department surveyed over 100 active nests throughout the state, including over 990 bald eagles.

It is unclear if the men know the bird they killed was a bald eagle.

Booksmart director Olivia Wilde is back on the market following her split with Harry Styles, a source tells Us magazine.

“Olivia is ready to date again, making it clear she’s available, and she isn’t looking for anything less than an amazing guy,” says the insider.

The 38-year-old actress/filmmaker and the “As It Was” singer, 29, met in September 2020 while filming Don’t Worry Darling and seemingly confirmed their relationship by holding hands in January 2021. They both kept their relationship private and declined speaking about it publicly.

Reports surfaced in November that the pair was “taking a break” and the decision to part ways was “amicable.”

The former couple began dating a year after Wilde and ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis ended their nine-year relationship. Olivia and the Ted Lasso star share son Otis, 8, and daughter Daisy, 6.
