While it’s not great Prince Harry and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage by his dad, King Charles, Handmaid’s Tale author Margaret Atwood reportedly thinks the so-called runaway royal is “lucky” to be living in this day and age — or at least not in Game of Thrones.

In an interview with The Times of London, Atwood is described as “an admirer of Game of Thrones” and speculated a Westeros-worthy scenario for the self-described “spare” heir. She suggested that had he been living at a time when the monarchy still held absolute power, he “probably would have been murdered by somebody lower down in the food chain to get him out the way.'”

It was an off-handed comment, to be sure — and one not without historical precedent — but of course Harry fans weren’t having it on the internet.

“It’s so disheartening to discover some female authors that I revered after reading their books or using them to teach Literature are actually very nasty people,” read one comment found by The Mirror.

It has been reported that the explosive accusations against the royal family in Harry’s memoir, Spare, led to his eviction from the residence left to him in his grandma Queen Elizabeth II‘s will. “The King felt without a doubt it crossed a line – it was the ultimate act of disrespect,” The Mirror has reported, quoting an anonymous source.

Incidentally, disgraced royal Prince Andrew, who became one of the only people implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal, is apparently moving into the spacious residence.

(NEW YORK) — In hard-hit California, the Sierra Nevada mountains are continuing to get pummeled with snow and have now set a new snowfall record.

Another 17.5 inches of snow fell in the mountains over the last 24 hours. The area has now been buried by 16 feet of snow in the last two weeks.

The snowfall total for the season stands at 48.33 feet, which breaks the previous record of 47.77 feet set in the winter of 2016-2017.

Light snow also fell this weekend in the mountains outside of Los Angeles, where people are still digging out from the more than 100 inches of snow that slammed the area over one week ago.

In San Bernardino County, crews have removed more than 7.2 million cubic yards of snow from highways, which equals nearly 2,270 Olympic-size swimming pools, according to the governor’s office.

On Monday, an avalanche warning is ongoing for the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Another storm is set to bring more snow to Northern California and the Sierras Tuesday into Wednesday, but this system isn’t expected to be strong.

The next major storm for California is expected for the end of the week for Northern California.

The atmospheric river will slam the San Francisco area with heavy rain and bring about 5 more feet of snow to the Sierras.

Gov’t Mule is extending their time on the road this year. After confirming dates for a spring tour, Warren Haynes and the gang have announced they’ll be headed out this summer, with the tour featuring a celebration of Pink Floyd‘s classic The Dark Side of the Moon.

The 12-date Dark Side of the Mule tour, with special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, will feature a full Mule set. It’ll be followed by the band’s Dark Side tribute performance, which debuted in Boston on Halloween 2008 and was released as a live album in 2014, earning the band a Grammy nod. The Mule’s tribute is their way of joining in on this year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic record.

“This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance,” Haynes shares. “Since then, Dark Side of the Mule has grown into something else.” He added, “It’s a blast to perform this material but our intent is to do it for one final tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dark Side. Don’t miss it!”

The Dark Side of the Mule tour is set to kick off July 22 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, wrapping August 19 in Holmdel, New Jersey. Presale tickets go on sale March 7 at 10 a.m., with the general sale set for March 10 at 10 a.m. local time.

A full list of tour dates can be found at mule.net.

Trump seeks to delay New York civil fraud case

(NEW YORK) — Former President Donald Trump is seeking to delay the civil fraud case he faces in New York by several months. This timeframe would push the trial, currently scheduled for October, deeper into the 2024 presidential campaign.

In a recent court filing, Trump’s attorneys said the delay they’re seeking is “borne of necessity” given the case’s complexity and the “staggering volume” of evidence.

“The current schedule makes the preparation of a defense impossible,” Trump’s attorneys Alina Habba and Clifford Robert wrote. “Fundamental notions of fair play and due process mandate that Defendants are afforded every opportunity to prepare a meaningful defense, rather than to have an impossible schedule forced upon them.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a $250 million civil lawsuit last September against Trump, his eldest children and his company that alleged they schemed to inflate Trump’s net worth and the value of his real estate holdings, duping lenders and insurers into giving the Trump Organization better terms than deserved.

Trump has denied wrongdoing and has derided the lawsuit as part of a partisan witch hunt.

James has not formally responded to the new motion but has written previously to the judge opposing delays.

“[T]here is no unfair prejudice to Defendants under the existing schedule and Defendants’ claimed hardship is self-inflicted,” Assistant Attorney General Colleen Faherty wrote in a letter to the court last month. “In short, Defendants have had ample time and opportunity to familiarize themselves with the matter. Instead, they have waited until the eve of the fact discovery deadline to only just begin their process of conducting discovery to prepare for trial, and now seek more time.”

Delaying the case would require the approval of Judge Arthur Engoron, who has previously signaled his intention to begin the trial as scheduled on Oct. 2 “come hell or high water,” according to a February court filing.

Trivium frontman Matt Heafy is officially a black belt in Brazilian jiujitsu.

Heafy earned the milestone over the weekend, almost exactly 10 years after he first started practicing BJJ in March 2013.

“The black belt is not the end. It’s the beginning,” Heafy says. “Thank you to every person I’ve ever trained with, learned from, lost to; my family and friends for their support; my teammates; my academy…but most importantly: my professor Gutty.”

Heafy is one of several rockers who practices BJJ, along with Tool‘s Maynard James Keenan and Megadeth‘s Dave Mustaine.

In other Heafy news, his collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly guitarist Sophie Lloyd, “Fall Of Man,” now has a video. The clip, which captures an intense live performance, is streaming now on YouTube.

Gorillaz‘s new album, Cracker Island, has debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200.

Cracker Island, which debuted at #1 in the U.K., is the fifth Gorillaz album to hit the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The group’s reached as high as #2 on the chart with 2010’s Plastic Beach and 2017’s Humanz.

Many U2 fans were up in arms when the band announced they were going on with their Las Vegas residency at the MSG Sphere without drummer Larry Mullen Jr. But while some suggest this will lead to the end of the band, guitarist The Edge insists that’s not the case.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Edge assures fans that “no one is more disappointed than us that Larry won’t be joining us in Vegas.” Larry will be out so he can recover from surgery, and Edge says there’s a good reason why they couldn’t wait for him. The shows were originally supposed to happen in 2021, before the COVID-19 pandemic screwed everything up.

“We made a commitment,” he says. “In the history of U2, you can count the shows we’ve missed on the fingers of one hand.”

And it’s not just fans who aren’t happy about Larry’s absence. “The people who are going to miss Larry the most, I think, will be BonoAdam (Clayton) and myself,” Edge says. “It’ll be strange to turn around and not see him behind us after all these years. But the shows will be amazing.”

And if that wasn’t enough to convince fans that U2 isn’t ending, Edge offers, “We all know that we shine brighter by being in proximity to each other.” He added, “That’s why it’s going to be very difficult to break up U2 – simply because it works so well for us all.”

Road to the Oscars: Angela Bassett shares her tip for staying positive

Road to the Oscars: Angela Bassett shares her tip for staying positive
Marvel Studios

Angela Bassett is on the Road to the Oscars.

With the March 12 show now less than a week away, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star is up for Best Supporting Actress. She shared with ABC Audio what the biggest obstacle was getting to this moment. Turns out it’s all self-imposed and mental.

“What comes to mind is always staying positive,” the award-winning actress said. “Staying positive, staying grateful, humble. And yeah, that’s it.”

“Because we know it’s an uphill,” she added. “We don’t know what the future holds. We know what our dreams may be, our hopes and our dreams. And sometimes those things match up and sometimes they don’t. Or sometimes it just takes a moment.”

Like most things, staying positive is easier said than done. So what’s Bassett’s advice for staying in a positive state of mind?

“Surround yourself with people who encourage you and support you and love you,” she said. “Also, first and foremost, love and support yourself.”

Although the Oscars are quickly approaching, Bassett admitted that she’s trying not to think about it. Instead she’s trying to take it one day at a time.

“I just think about being present in the moment, staying grounded and humble, not getting too far ahead of myself, you know, not thinking about that day today, but thinking about this day and how I can just stay chill,” the Marvel star expressed. “[Do] what I can do to deposit something in my, in my spirit and in my life that will just add and not subtract.”
