The Cure announces ticket policy to combat scalpers

The Cure recently announced a new North American tour, their first tour on the continent in seven years. To make sure their fans are able to get tickets, they just announced their ticket policy, which is being instituted in an attempt to keep tickets away from scalpers.

“We want the tour to be affordable for all fans, and we have a very wide (and we think very fair) range of pricing at every show,” the band shares. “Our ticketing partners have agreed to help minimize resale and keep prices at face value. Tickets for this tour will not be transferrable.”

If for some reason a ticket holder is unable to use the ticket, there will be the option to sell them at face value on a fan-to-fan ticket exchange.

This will be the policy in all states except New York, Illinois and Colorado, where, according to The Cure, “they actually have laws in place to protect scalpers.” These laws prohibit making tickets nontransferrable. The band, however, is encouraging fans in those states to only buy or sell their tickets at face value on ticket exchange sites.

And since the Ticketmaster Verified Fan sale doesn’t begin until Wednesday, The Cure has also warned fans that if they see any tickets already on sale on the secondary market they “are very likely to be fake,” adding they will work with Ticketmaster to cancel any legitimate tickets found on these sites.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas says Amazon series ‘Citadel’ was the “first time” she got equal pay with male co-star

Priyanka Chopra Jonas says Amazon series ‘Citadel’ was the “first time” she got equal pay with male co-star
Prime Video

At the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on Friday, Priyanka Chopra Jonas had a few things to say about equality.

On the positive side, she noted that the series she was promoting, Citadel, from Avengers blockbuster directors Joe and Anthony Russo, represented the “first time” she’d been paid what her male co-star got.

Sitting with Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke, who called her “an innovator, a trailblazer,” she said, “I might get into trouble for [this], depends on who’s watching. I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for now 22 years, and I have done about, almost 70-plus features and two TV shows. But when I did Citadel, it was the first time in my career that I had pay parity with my male co-actor.”

Richard Madden is Chopra Jonas’ co-lead in the forthcoming spy series.

Referring to Salke, she wondered, “Would that have been a different conversation if a woman didn’t make that decision?” She marveled at “the ease in which Amazon Studios said, ‘That’s what you deserve, you are co-leads, that’s just fair.’ And I was like, ‘You’re right, it is fair,'” she recalled with a laugh.

Chopra Jonas continued, “I’m laughing about this, but it’s kind of nuts: [Formerly,] I put in the same amount of … investment and work, but I get paid much less.”

Chopra Jonas tied that personal anecdote into International Women’s Day and International Women’s History Month, arguing progress is only possible when more women are represented throughout the entertainment industry.

Priyanka also said to other women, “Let’s all succeed for each other. Let’s all be proud for each other, let’s all do business with each other.”

Citadel debuts on Prime Video April 28.

The Recording Industry Association of America has awarded Miley Cyrus multiple new Platinum and Gold certifications just in time for her new Disney+ concert special.

Miley Cyrus: Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) is now available on the streaming giant, in which “one-of-a-kind performances are threaded together with exclusive interviews where she provides insight to her new album and the person she is today,” as described by the streamer.

In addition to that, Miley is celebrating some major nods from the RIAA, such as her 2009 track “Party in the U.S.A.” earning 12 Platinum certifications.

In addition, she has two songs that earned three Platinum recognitions: “See You Again” and “When I Look At You.” Her songs “7 Things” and “Can’t Be Tamed” also went twice Platinum in this updated ranking.

Miley’s other 2009 hit, “Hoedown Throwdown,” also crossed over into Platinum territory after officially moving over 1 million units. That includes purchases, downloads and streams.

Moreover, 11 of Miley’s songs have earned Gold certifications. As her alter ego Hannah Montana, the songs “I Got Nerve,” “I’ll Always Remember You,” “If We Were a Movie,” “Life’s What You Make It,” “One in a Million,” “Ordinary Girl,” “True Friend,” “Who Said” and “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” earned Gold recognition.

Meanwhile, two other songs credited under her real name went Gold: “I Miss You” and “Start All Over.”

All this good news coincides with the release of Miley’s new album, Endless Summer Vacation. It is her eighth studio album and the follow-up to 2020’s Plastic Hearts.

She also released the music video for one of the album’s new tracks, titled “River,” on Friday.

After 8 1/2 years, Linkin Park’s back on top with “Lost”

If you’re looking for Linkin Park, their song “Lost” can be found on top of Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay.

The band’s latest release, “Lost” has reached the summit of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. It’s the first time they’ve been number one on that chart since 2014 with “Until It’s Gone.” “Lost” took just four weeks to reach number one, the fastest climb for a Linkin Park record since 2007’s “What I’ve Done.”

“Lost” is also Linkin Park’s first number one on this chart since lead vocalist Chester Bennington died in 2017, and it’s a posthumous achievement for the late singer: He and Linkin Park recorded “Lost” during the sessions for 2003’s Meteora. It wasn’t released until this year as the first single from the upcoming 20th anniversary reissue of the album, due out April 7.

In addition, “Lost” is now in its fourth week at number one on Billboard‘s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart.

Meteora, which hit number one upon its release in 2003, has sold 16 million copies worldwide. It spun off multiple hits, including “Numb,” “Somewhere I Belong,” “Faint” and “From the Inside.”

As previously reported, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda dropped a solo single Friday: “In My Head,” from the movie Scream VI.
