Director-writer Adam McKay, who recently called the shots on Netflix’s environmental disaster movie Don’t Look Up, starring Oscar winners Leo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, has lined up some major stars for his next big comedy.
Deadline reports Oscar-nominated screenwriter McKay has netted Robert Downey Jr., The Batman‘s Robert Pattinson, Till‘s Danielle Deadwyler, and Oscar winners Amy Adams and Forest Whitaker for a dark comedy centering on a serial killer.
The trade reports Average Height, Average Build will have Pattinson playing a killer who turns to a Washington DC lobbyist, played by Adams, in an effort to help change the laws so that he could literally get away with murder.
Deadline says Downey will play a retired cop who still wants to bring the killer to justice. The film will reportedly start production later this year, bound for either theaters or streaming.
Noel Gallagher‘s latest High Flying Birds track earned a compliment from his estranged brother and former Oasis bandmate, Liam Gallagher, albeit a backhanded one.
After the song, which is called “Dead to the World,” premiered Thursday, Liam tweeted, “How can such a mean spirited little man write such a beautiful song.”
Liam’s tweet follows his latest comments on the ongoing Gallagher brother saga, in which he said that “the little fella aka potato” — his preferred nickname for Noel — “has done a lot of damage to Oasis as a band/brand.”
Prior to that, Noel gave an interview with France Inter in which he basically dared Liam to “get his people to call my people.”
“But you know what? He won’t call,” Noel said.
“Dead to the World,” meanwhile, will appear on the upcoming High Flying Birds album Council Skies, due out June 2. That same day, Noel and company will kick off a U.S. tour with Garbage and Metric.

The actor, who stars in the upcoming series Lioness, chatted with TMZ about his acting ambitions and whether or not they’d include his wife.
“I think she’s a great actress,” he said, adding, “I hope one day. That would be a dream come true.”
TMZ asked what kind of project he can see himself doing with Britney and if it comes down to it being the right script. “Maybe [I’d] write the script,” he responded.
Sam doesn’t think he’d want to do a rom-com with the pop star, adding, “Maybe it’s an action film, because she’s very athletic. She’s able to jump up and … do a bunch of stunts. I think she’d be really good at that.”
He also thinks Britney would do her own stunts.
The hitmaker previously starred in the movie Crossroads, and made memorable cameos in the shows like How I Met Your Mother and Glee.

The McDonald’s All-American Games return next week, showcasing some of the best high school basketball players in the class of 2023. Taking place March 28 at Houston’s Toyota Center, the boys game will feature a halftime performance by Don Toliver.
“I’m ready to do my thing at the McDonald’s All-American Games halftime show,” he said in a statement, per Uproxx. “I have a lot of respect for how hard the players have worked to be at the top of their game, and it’s an honor to take center stage in my hometown where it all began for me.”

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth are divorcing after 12 years of marriage.
The Legally Blonde actress took to Instagram on Friday, March 24, to share a joint statement from herself and Toth announcing the split, which comes days before their 12th anniversary on March 26.
“We have some personal news to share,” the statement began. “It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.
“Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter,” the statement continued. “These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”
Witherspoon and Toth married in March 2011 and share son Tennessee, who turned 10 last year.
Prior to Toth, Witherspoon was married to her Cruel Intentions co-star Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2008. She and Phillippe share two children, daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19.
U2 has a new number one album in the U.K. The Irish rockers’ latest release, Songs of Surrender, tops the U.K. Official Albums chart, outselling their closest competition, The Weeknd’s Highlights, two to one.
Songs of Surrender is the band’s first U.K. number one since 2009’s No Line on the Horizon and their 11th overall, tying David Bowie, who also had 11 number ones. (The Beatles still have the most with 15.)
U2’s Songs of Surrender, featuring 40 rerecorded and reimagined U2 classics, is also the most popular vinyl seller in the U.K., topping the Official Vinyl Albums chart this week.
The new album gave a bump to one of U2’s previous releases: 2006’s greatest hits compilation U218 Singles isback at 38 this week.
(FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va.) — The Fairfax County Police Department released body camera footage of the fatal police shooting of Timothy Johnson, 37, who allegedly stole a pair of sunglasses in a Northern Virginia mall.
The surveillance and body camera videos from Feb. 22 were shown publicly for the first time during a Thursday press conference led by Police Chief Kevin Davis, who announced that the officer who fired the fatal shot has been dismissed from the department.
“The other discharging officer has been served a notice administratively separating him from the Fairfax County Police Department. This notice was served today. He will no longer be a Fairfax County police officer,” Davis said.
The other officer involved has been placed on modified restricted duty, he said.
Melissa Johnson, the mother of Timothy Johnson, told ABC News she “was pleased to hear about the administrative separation” of one of the officers; however, she “was not pleased to hear about the continuation of restricted duty” for the other.
“They both discharged their weapons. They both had their weapons out,” Johnson’s mother said, adding that for the first time since Wednesday, she felt like she could breathe.
She also told ABC News that she viewed the body camera video Wednesday before it was released.
“No parent should have to view something like that,” she said.
According to police, store surveillance video shows Johnson at a Nordstrom department store inside Tysons Corner Center allegedly stealing at least one pair of sunglasses.
Shortly after the alleged theft, an anti-theft alarm was activated as Johnson was leaving the store, police said, prompting officers to pursue Johnson in a foot chase.
Body camera footage shows police chasing Johnson as he exited the garage and ran toward a dark, wooded area. There, shots can be heard on the footage, one shot hitting Johnson’s chest, according to the police.
Police said they immediately rendered aid to Johnson until a local fire and rescue department arrived.
Johnson was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
According to Davis, “The officer’s actions do not meet the expectations of our police department.”
“They drew their guns and shot and killed him and the only thing they knew was that he was accused of allegedly taking a pair of sunglasses,” Melissa Johnson said at a previous press conference.
Police said no weapon was found at the scene.
Both officers are both still under investigation, according to the police department.
The officers did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
