Simply Red drops new single, “Shades 22,” from upcoming album ‘Time’

Simply Red is back with new music. The band just shared the new track “Shades 22,” which is the second single off their upcoming new album, Time, which drops May 26.

“When we were in lockdown, I went, well, jeez, who am I actually? What makes me tick?” Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall shares. “And I realized: you are a songwriter. So why don’t you write some songs about who you are? That’s really the essence of this album.”

“Shades 22” follows the band’s previously released single, “Better With You,” which came out earlier this month. The album is the follow-up to Blue Eyed Soul, which was released in 2019.

‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ already finding box office treasure

Flying high off of strong word of mouth and an even stronger 90% on the ratings aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Paramount’s roleplaying game adaptation Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves already scored a box office feat.

Variety reports an impressive $5.6 million from Thursday night sneaks alone, one of the strongest sneak peek performances of the year.

The movie, which stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant and Justice Smith and features more references to the game than you can shake a bag of 20-sided dice at, will have to face off with Keanu Reeves‘ hit John Wick: Chapter 4.

That said, the Thursday night screenings foretell good news for the swords-and-sorcery pic.

Nashville notes: Parker McCollum on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ + Griffen Palmer’s “Unlearn”

Parker McCollum appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 30 to perform “Handle On You.” The single is currently number four and rising on the country charts. Watch Parker’s performance on YouTube and check out photos from his visit on Instagram.

Big Loud Records newcomer Griffen Palmer has announced his debut album with the release of its powerful title track, “Unlearn.” “I’ve been dreaming of putting out my own album for as long as I can remember,” Griffen shares. “It was important to me that we hold on releasing my first album until we had the songs just right, and I’m equal parts amazed and proud of how it has all turned out.” Unlearn drops April 28.

Caylee Hammack has dropped her new song, “History of Repeating.” The pensive track was penned by Caylee with Ashley McBryde and Nicolette Hayford (Pillbox Patti). “This song is a very honest admission of some bad decisions that I think anyone can relate to making … those decisions sometimes we repeat, even though we know it’s not what is best for us. The humanness of our habits and hearts and a swig of Jack Daniel’s for flavor,” Caylee reflects.

‘The Last of Us’ reportedly swapping locations for second season

HBO Max’s hit The Last of Us is on the move. According to Deadline, the production of the video game adaptation will shift from Alberta, Canada, to Vancouver for its second season.

Alberta subbed for Austin, Boston, Kansas City, Colorado and Wyoming as Pedro Pascal‘s Joel and Bella Ramsey‘s Ellie made their way across the post-apocalyptic U.S.

But the trade speculates that Vancouver’s environments are a better stand-in for the Pacific Northwest, a major location in the bestselling video game’s sequel.

The drama was renewed for a second frame after just two episodes aired to record numbers on HBO and its streaming service, HBO Max.

Queen + Adam Lambert add more Rhapsody Tour dates

Queen + Adam Lambert have added more dates to their North American Rhapsody Tour.

The band has added eight new dates “due to overwhelming fan demand,” including second shows in Baltimore, New York, Boston, St. Paul, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The tour now features 22 shows overall, opening October 4 in Baltimore, Maryland, and now wrapping November 12 in Los Angeles.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale Friday, April 7, at 10 a.m. local time. A complete list of shows can be found at queenonline.com.

Neil Diamond says he’s only accepted his 2018 Parkinson’s diagnosis “in the last few weeks”

Neil Diamond announced in 2018 that he’d be retiring from performing live due to a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, but on this weekend’s episode of CBS Sunday Morning, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer admits he only recently came to terms with his medical condition.

Asked by Anthony Mason if there was a moment when he finally “accepted” his diagnosis, Diamond replies, “I think this has just been in the last few weeks.”

He adds, “Somehow, a calm has moved in and [in] the hurricane of my life … things have gotten very quiet … And, I like it. I find that I like myself better. I’m easier on people. I’m easier on myself. And the beat goes on, and it will go on long after I’m gone.”

Diamond, 82, also tells Mason that while he doesn’t “like” it, “This is me; this is what I have to accept. And I’m willing to do it … and OK, so this is the hand that God’s given me, and I have to make the best of it, and so I am. I am.”

However, Diamond says it’s difficult for him to sit back and watch his life performed in front of him in the current Broadway musical A Beautiful Noise, which tells his story and incorporates all his best-known songs.

“It was all pretty hard. I was a little embarrassed. I was flattered and I was scared,” Diamond says of seeing the show.

Asked what he was scared of, Diamond explains, “Being found out is the scariest thing you can hope, because we all have a façade. And the truth be known to all of ‘em: I’m not some big star. I’m just me.”

Ticketmaster canceled sales of 7,000 Cure tickets, Robert Smith says

As Robert Smith‘s battle with Ticketmaster continues, the Cure frontman now says that the company has canceled 7,000 tickets purchased for the band’s upcoming North American tour.

In a tweet published Friday, which deviated from his usual all-caps style, Smith writes, “Approx 7k tickets across approx 2200 orders have been cancelled.”

“These are tickets acquired with fake accounts/listed on secondary resale sites,” the tweet continues. “[Ticketmaster] have identified specific locations from secondary postings.”

In a follow-up tweet, Smith adds, “If you believe you have been wrongly cancelled contact @TMFanSupport.”

Smith previously criticized Ticketmaster for what many fans felt were exorbitant fees added onto ticket prices for the tour, writing that he was “sickened” by the situation. As a result, Ticketmaster eventually issued a partial refund for the fees that had been charged.

The Cure’s tour, which marks their first full U.S. headlining run in seven years, begins May 10 in New Orleans.

Juror in Gwyneth Paltrow ski trial case speaks out

One of the jurors in the Gwyneth Paltrow ski trial case is speaking out in an ABC News exclusive after siding with the A-list actress Thursday.

The jury sided with the actor and Goop CEO, concluding that Paltrow was not at fault in a 2016 collision with retired optometrist Terry Sanderson on a Utah ski slope.

Samantha Imrie was juror number 11 in the trial.

“The whole thing was a little shocking to me,” the 31-year-old told ABC News.

Imrie said she changed her opinion multiple times as the trial unfolded, but after the eight-person jury began deliberating, it took them only a couple of hours to reach the same decision.

She said she did find Paltrow’s testimony convincing.

“I think there was, in the back of my mind, yes, this woman’s an actress and I took that into account, but I didn’t feel she had a reason to lie under oath,” Imrie said. “She’s always in the spotlight so she always has to be honest.”

When it came to Sanderson, Imrie said, “He was telling his truth and I think unfortunately some of that has been distorted due to some other factors, but I do think he did not intend to tell a truth that wasn’t his truth.”

Ultimately, Imrie said social media photos of Sanderson traveling around the world following the 2016 accident didn’t help his case. Sanderson had claimed that the collision between him and Paltrow had left him with “serious brain injuries.”

“I think I wrote down, ‘Wow, I need to make some more money so I can go travel this way.’ I wouldn’t have thought he was capable of those things based on the picture that had been painted.”

Fleetwood Mac gets boost from TV

If you think you’ve been hearing a lot of Fleetwood Mac songs on TV lately, you aren’t imagining things.

AdAge reports that since the beginning of 2022, music by the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers has been featured across 16 different TV shows and commercials — and that doesn’t include clips played during reports of singer Christine McVie’s November 2022 death.

According to licensing platform Songtradr, the track that got the most exposure was 1987’s “Everywhere,” which was featured in a Chevy electric vehicle commercial, as well as a recent Kohl’s campaign. In addition, Fleetwood Mac’s “I’m Coming Home to Stay” was featured in the standout third episode of HBO’s The Last of Us, which featured Nick Offerman.

“Not true”: James Gunn shoots down ‘Superman’ casting rumors

In the comics and on the big screen, Kryptonite can take down Superman, but in real life, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has the power to reduce Superman rumors to rubble.

That’s just what he did on social media very recently, taking to task several outlets and online prognosticators that said his Man of Steel in the forthcoming Superman: Legacy was already cast.

Grace Randolph, who runs the YouTube channel Beyond The Trailer, tweeted Wednesday, “I hear they are VERY close to a #Superman casting – might not be announced for awhile but it could leak Very very close… Role MIGHT even be cast or in final talks…”

Gunn, who wrote the script and will be directing, replied flatly, “Not true.”

He added, “Haven’t had a single talk with a single actor about the role. Just making private lists, prepping material for auditions.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy vet also took the time to dump an extra pail of cold water on another Randolph “scoop” that Logan Lerman was a shoo-in.

Gunn noted, “For the record, I don’t know who that is,” quickly adding, because the internet, “Guys, this isn’t a dig at the actor. I don’t know lots of actors’ names. Now that you tell me who he is, I recognize him from stuff and think he’s talented.”

He insisted, however, “But I’ve never met him, and he’s never been part of a conversation about playing Superman.”

As reported, Gunn faced flak online after it was revealed Henry Cavill wouldn’t be returning as the Man of Steel as a Black Adam after-credits scene promised.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to open in theaters on July 11, 2025.
