Golf fan fulfills dream after mistaken invite to the Masters

(GEORGIA) — What’s in a name? If yours is Scott Stallings, it might include tickets to attend the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

Scott Stallings is a real estate professional who lives in Chamblee, Georgia. He enjoys golf (and has been trying to get tickets to the Masters for years) but is by no means a PGA champion.

Scott Stallings is also the name of a 38-year-old professional golfer from Worcester, Massachusetts. He’s one of the top 100 golfers in the world, has won three PGA Tour events and is competing at the Masters this weekend.

“It was probably about five or six years ago when I actually saw him on TV and realized, you know, wow, there’s another guy that has my name, you know, playing golf,” Stallings, the realtor, told ABC’s Atlanta affiliate WSB. “So every time I saw him on TV, I’d always take a picture of it and posted it on Facebook.”

Last year, the realtor received an invitation to the Masters in the mail originally intended for the pro golfer. Both got in touch after the mixup, and to thank him for his help, Stallings, the golfer, made sure that Stallings, the realtor, got some tickets for himself.

“Just the excitement of receiving anything from Augusta National, and then, you know, kind of hearing the back and forth of him thinking that that was his ticket,” Stallings, the golfer, said. “It was a ticket, I guess, just a different kind.”

The realtor said he has been trying to attend the Masters for over a decade. The tournament, held at the private Augusta National Golf Club, is the holy grail of events for golf enthusiasts; while tickets are notoriously hard or expensive to get, the pristine landscaping, affordable, iconic foods (pimento cheese sandwiches cost $1.50, and Georgia peach ice cream sandwiches cost $2.50), and elite play make the tournament iconic.

Of golf’s four major championships, the Masters is the only tournament to consistently be played at the same course, as opposed to a rotating set of professional courses in the United States and United Kingdom. Lucky fans are able to purchase relatively affordable tickets through a lottery system orchestrated by Augusta National; fans left on the secondary market pay thousands of dollars for tickets.

“The road to the Masters is long, less traveled, just a chain of events that you couldn’t write this stuff if you tried to,” Stallings, the realtor, said.

The two united at the Augusta National this week, with the realtor watching the golfer play.

“I feel like we’ve have just entered the adult Walt Disney World,” Stallings, the realtor, said.

In addition to the tickets to attend tournament, the pro golfer invited the realtor to dinner and gave him a present: the same tickets that led to the fortunate encounter, framed and signed, “from one Scott Stallings to the next.”

Ellie Goulding predicts son will “love” being on tour: “He travels really well”

Ellie Goulding is preparing to launch a world tour in support of her new album, Higher than Heaven. But for the first time, she’ll be hitting the road with a child in tow: her son, Arthur, turns 2 this month.

“I think he’ll love it. He goes with the flow. He travels really well,” she tells People. “He’s getting some little ear [protectors], and then I think he’ll be good to go.”

The trick, she says, will be getting him to stay up long enough to actually watch her take the stage. “I’d love for him to see me sing at some point,” she says.

But Arthur will only be able to travel with her for so long, as he’ll soon be in nursery school. She says she’s trying to decide whether to send him to a “London nursery with all kinds of kids or a farm with some country kids learning about animals and nature, which is obviously my passion, so I’m really torn,” she says.

And one day, Arthur might even follow in his famous mom’s footsteps.

“He tends to definitely gravitate more towards music than anything,” she shares. “He loves his musical instruments.”

Drake releases new song, “Search & Rescue”

In the newly released song “Search & Rescue,” Drake is looking for a long-term lover to relieve him of his celebrity bachelor lifestyle.

“Come and rescue me/ Take me out the club, take me out the trap,” he sings. “Take me off the market, take me off the map/ I’m tryna hit the group chat and tell ’em it’s a wrap.”

Dropped Friday, “Search & Rescue” features a sample of Kim Kardashian from a 2021 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

“I didn’t come this far just to come this far and not be happy, remember that,” Kim says in the clip when speaking to mother Kris Jenner about wanting to divorce Kanye West.

Fans heard the sample when the song was previewed before its release. It was believed Kim could be the woman in the single’s artwork.

Amid chatter suggesting Drake was rehashing old issues with Ye, Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, stepped in to defend him. “Drake is not trolling anyone, it’s just a song,” he commented under a TMZ post, per Complex. “Why try and create a Kanye and Drake beef again?”

Steely Dan reissuing 1973’s ‘Countdown To Ecstasy’ on vinyl

Steely Dan is reissuing another classic album on vinyl. The latest is their 1973 release, Countdown To Ecstasy, marking the first time it’s been released on vinyl in more than 30 years.

The reissue, dropping May 26, is remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog tapes. It’s being pressed on 180-gram black vinyl at 33 1/3 RPM, plus there will be a limited edition premium 45 RPM version on Ultra High-Quality Vinyl.

Steely Dan is in the midst of an extensive reissue program, which will see the band’s first seven albums returning to vinyl; for many it will be the first time on vinyl since their original release. The program started in November with the reissue of the band’s debut album, Can’t Buy A Thrill, and over the next year fans can expect reissues of 1974’s Pretzel Logic, 1975’s The Royal Scam, 1977’s Platinum-selling Aja and 1980’s Gaucho.

Released in July 1973, Countdown To Ecstasy was the first Steely Dan album to feature Donald Fagan singing lead on every song. It features such tunes as “Bodhisattva,” “Show Biz Kids” and “My Old School.”

SZA’s reported income from SOS Tour

With the end of SZA‘s SOS Tour come reports about her income from the trek. According to Billboard, the singer earned $34.5 million in the 17-city outing, averaging $1.9 million per show and 12,812 tickets sold every night.

SZA’s SOS Tour, her first headlining arena stint, ran from February 21 to March 23 and saw surprise guest appearances from the likes of Cardi B, Lizzo and Phoebe Bridgers.

Savannah James attended one of her shows, as did Justin Timberlake, Yung Miami, Jennifer Lopez and a few others.

After learning Adele and the Biebers sat in on one of her concerts, SZA wrote on her Instagram Story, “Bruh .. this is actually too much. I’m so glad I had no idea cause I wouldn’t have come on stage.”

SZA’s tour supported her SOS album, which had a nonconsecutive 10-week run as the #1 album on the Billboard 200. She plans to release a deluxe edition, including 10 new songs.

“After I do the deluxe, I’m hoping to be able to accept that this chapter is done,” she told Billboard. “I’m looking forward to actually feeling proud of myself and not just smiling and nodding at accolades but really feeling it internally and knowing that I’m good enough.”

Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band add dates to Spring tour

Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band have added some new dates to their upcoming Spring tour, which kicks off May 19 in Temecula, California.

They’ve added four new shows to the trek — May 23 in Long Beach, California; May 30 in Prescott Valley, Arizona; June 4 in Woodinville, Washington; and June 10 in Jacksonville, Oregon. The tour is set to run through June 17 in San Jose, California.

“The joy for me about touring is playing live to an audience with the All Starr Band, so I’m always happy when we can add some more dates,” Ringo shares. “See you in May!”

For the new tour, Ringo’s All-Starr Band will be made up of Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Edgar Winter, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart and Gregg Bissonette.

On This Day, April 7, 2017: Pearl Jam, Journey, Yes and more are inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

On This Day, April 7, 2017 …

Pearl Jam, Yes, Journey, Joan Baez, ELO and the late Tupac Shakur were among the artists inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Pearl Jam was inducted by talk show host David Letterman, who was a last-minute replacement for a sick Neil Young. The Seattle rockers performed three songs: “Alive,” “Given to Fly” and a cover of Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

The night also featured a reunion of Journey with their lead singer Steve Perry, but only to accept the award. They went on to perform with their current lead singer, Arnel Pineda.

And the ceremony became a Yes reunion, with their performance bringing together Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman and Alan White.

“Sometimes things just happen”: Is Emily Ratajkowski talking about Harry Styles?

A new profile of Emily Ratajkowski in the Los Angeles Times was written two weeks prior to those photos of her kissing Harry Styles in Tokyo cropping up. Contacted for a follow-up comment, EmRata was very coy.

In the profile, the model, actress, author and podcaster told the paper, “I’m really just not thinking about guys. I’m working, I’m a single mom. I’ve been so busy that it’s easy not to think about.”

Then those pictures surfaced, along with headlines about how EmRata had “betrayed” her friend Olivia Wilde by kissing Harry — and even, the paper notes, a rumor that the trio had once had a threesome.

From Japan, EmRata sent the paper a voice note, in which she said, “There’s a million insane, inaccurate things about my relationships.”

She continued, “I’m definitely still not thinking about guys,” but then laughed and said, “Although, yeah. You know, sometimes things just happen.”

‘Queen The Greatest Live’ – episode 12: “Who Wants To Live Forever”

Queen is back with episode 12 of their yearlong YouTube series Queen The Greatest Live, and in this week’s episode they are looking at their classic tune “Who Wants To Live Forever.”

The episode focuses on Queen and Adam Lambert’s June 2016 performance at the Isle of White Festival. It showcases the production of the song, which includes a dazzling laser light show that filled the sky with beams of blue and purple.

“I’ve never heard it sung like that, that’s special,” Roger Taylor has said of Adam’s performance.

Brian May added, “Adam is astounding, the lengths he can push things to is extraordinary. … Sometimes I’m standing right here playing ‘Who Wants To Live Forever,’ and he’s there doing his thing. And when he goes into this stratospheric thing in the middle, I very often go, ‘Wow.’”

“Who Wants To Live Forever,” which was written by May, is featured on Queen’s 1986 studio album, A Kind of Magic. It also played during a pivotal scene in the 1986 movie Highlander.
