Donald Trump returning to New York for deposition in 0M civil lawsuit: Sources

(NEW YORK) — Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to return to New York City Thursday to sit for a second deposition as part of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million civil fraud lawsuit, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

Trump previously sat for an hourslong deposition in August, prior to James filing her lawsuit that accused Trump, his eldest children and his company of fraudulently inflating the value of the Trump real estate portfolio and his net worth.

The attorney general’s office has the right to depose relevant parties after the filing of the lawsuit as part of the discovery process.

Trump is expected to sit for this new deposition Thursday at the attorney general’s downtown office.

The former president did not answer many questions in the first deposition other than affirming he understood the ground rules and the procedures.

When Kevin Wallace, the attorney general’s senior counsel, asked what Trump did to prepare for the deposition he answered: “very little.”

When asked questions about his finances, Trump repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment and continued to do so for the next several hours.

The suit claims that Trump’s Florida estate and golf resort, Mar-a-Lago, was valued as high as $739 million, but should have been valued at $75 million. Trump is also alleged to have overvalued assets such as his Trump Tower apartment; Trump Turnberry, his golf course in Scotland; and 40 Wall Street.

Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest children, also previously sat for depositions in the case.

Trump had initially countersued James for filing the lawsuit against him. But Trump withdrew the lawsuit in January after U.S. District Judge Donald Middlebrooks warned Trump’s legal team that the lawsuit appeared to verge on frivolous.

Justin Jones vote: Nashville Metro Council votes to reinstate expelled lawmaker

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Nashville’s Metro Council voted unanimously to reinstate Justin Jones, the Tennessee House representative who was ousted last week for taking part in a gun control rally.

Jones will serve as an interim legislator until a special election is called.

Nashville Vice Mayor Jim Shulman, the council’s president, told ABC News that members quickly scheduled the meeting following Thursday’s vote by the Republican-led statehouse to expel Jones and Justin Pearson for allegedly violating the chamber’s rules of decorum by participating in the March 30 protest.

State Rep. Gloria Johnson, who also took part in the protest that was prompted by the March 27 mass shooting at The Covenant School, was subjected to an expulsion vote but not enough members supported it.

The meeting was packed with Jones’ supporters who made their voices heard, as Council members weighed their decision on the future of Jones’ seat. They let out a huge cheer after the vote came through after nearly 12 minutes.

Jones, 27, ran for office last year for the open house seat in Tennessee’s 52nd district, which includes Nashville. He had no opponents in the general election.

‘Succession’ continues its winning ways with latest shocker episode

HBO’s Emmy magnet drama Succession continues to score for the network. Its most recent third episode of the fourth and final season scored 2.5 million viewers, putting it 7% higher than its season debut record of 2.3 million viewers.

Weeks later, that first episode’s viewership has ballooned to 7 million viewers, as people catch up on streaming, according to HBO.

Sunday night’s installment, “Connor’s Wedding,” saw the shocking death of a main cast member. The intrigue — and, likely, the haunting prospect of being spoiled about it — propelled the show’s viewership to new heights.

If you don’t want to be spoiled about exactly who met their fate in the third episode, definitely don’t read the Variety article about it, in which director Mark Mylod says show creator Jesse Armstrong had the major death planned since season 3.

Sex Pistols’ Glen Matlock on ‘Pistol’ series: “I feel shafted”

Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock reveals in a new interview that he wasn’t the biggest fan of Danny Boyle’s Hulu series about the band, Pistol. In an interview with The Metal Voice, Matlock admits he was “very disappointed” in the series, particularly in the way his departure from the band was depicted.

While he says he was happy it came out — “I thought it was important that it went ahead because it was based on Steve’s (Jones) story and take on things. And he was the guy that formed the band.” — he says he wishes it was “more truthful.”

Matlock says unlike what was portrayed in the series, he “was not sacked” from the group, sharing, “That whole episode where Steve sacked [me] is just bollocks.”

He was even more upset because he had some meetings with Boyle before production began. “And I thought it had all been ironed out,” he says. “But then I was ignored. So, I’m not happy. I feel shafted.”

‘Stranger Things’ getting animated for Netflix series

Netflix has announced it will keep the Stranger Things phenomenon going in animated form. The streaming service has just greenlighted a new animated series that’s “set within the Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things universe.”

In the announcement, Matt and Ross Duffer, the sibling creators of the smash series, say, “We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues.”

This is the latest medium change for the hit series from Netflix, which announced last month that Stranger Things: The First Shadow will make its debut on London’s West End later this year. To be directed by Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, the stage production will be set before the events of the show and show things were pretty much always amiss in Hawkins, Indiana.

Meanwhile, shooting on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will reportedly commence in May or June of this year, with a debut sometime in 2024.

Nashville notes: Tenille Arts and LeAnn Rimes’ duet + Chase Matthew’s album

Tenille Arts shared that she’s releasing a duet of her song “Jealous of Myself” with LeAnn Rimes on Friday, April 14. The two recently shared the stage to perform “Blue” at LeAnn’s headlining show in Nashville. See photos from the night on Tenille’s Twitter.

Warner Music Nashville’s Chase Matthew will be dropping his sophomore album, Come Get Your Memory, on June 9. The 25-track record will include the newly released title track, as well as “Hey Montana,” “The Way I Am” and “Love You Again.”

Melissa Etheridge announces new dates for summer tour

Melissa Etheridge is spending a lot of time on the road this year. The singer is set to embark on a 44-city tour that will keep her on the road through most of the summer.

The trek kicks off April 22 in Los Angeles and wraps August 15 in Annapolis, Maryland, with Etheridge just announcing more than 20 new shows in such cities as Las Vegas, Toledo, Charlotte and Nashville.

In addition to her solo shows, the trek features appearances at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, the New Orleans JazzFest and the Kemptville Live Music Festival in Ontario, Canada.

Jodeci’s bringing SWV and Dru Hill to their Summer Block Party

There’ll be a meeting of the R&B groups at Jodeci‘s Summer Block Party Tour. Announced last weekend, the trek will feature fellow groups Dru Hill and SWV, and possibly some surprise guests.

It’s unclear when and where the singing stars will be headed, but on Instagram Jodeci encourages fans to “Sign up at link in our bio for an exclusive presale code good for Monday April 24.”

“General on sale starts Friday, April 28,” the post continued. “Cities + more details to be announced soon.”

Jodeci is also booked to perform at Mary J. Blige‘s second Strength Of A Woman Festival in Atlanta this May.

Taylor Swift’s latest honor amid Eras Tour: Named “honorary mayor” of Tampa, Florida

Tampa, Florida, is the latest city to attempt to impress Taylor Swift ahead of her arrival this weekend for the latest stop on her Eras Tour.

So far, Glendale, Arizona, renamed itself “Swift City”; Arlington, Texas, gave her the key to the city and named a street after her; and Las Vegas illuminated its gateway arches in her honor. But Tampa is going one step further. In a video posted on Twitter, Jane Castor, the mayor of Tampa, says, “We’ve got a Reputation to uphold. We wanna go bigger.”

Not only is Castor ready to give Taylor the key to the city, she’s invited her to be the “honorary mayor for a day. Mayor Swift has a nice ring to it. We can’t wait to welcome you and your fans to Tampa — Taylor’s version!”

Taylor’s set to play in the city April 13-15.

In addition to all that, Tampa has renamed its Twitter feed from City of Tampa to City of Tampa (Taylor’s Version) and announced that it will lighting up the town’s city hall, river walk and downtown bridges in honor of Red.

Fans are joking about how much bigger future Eras Tour cities can go. One fan predicted that by the time she gets to LA, California Gov. Gavin Newsom will resign and turn the office over to her.

One fan tweeted, “I adore this friendly competition against the cities. I think we should just rename the whole country The United States of Taylor.”

Lucie Silvas says John Osborne is “truly the best caretaker”

Brothers Osborne‘s John Osborne and his wife, Lucie Silvas, have returned with their twins from their second stay at the NICU.

John and Lucie welcomed Arthur and Maybelle on March 21. However, Lucie shared on Instagram on April 8 that the newborns had returned to the NICU again.

“Back and forth to NICU but looking forward to being at home yet again. This babies are so so strong. Like their Mum and dad. John is working hard and coming home tomorrow to be with our little babies,” Lucie wrote, before praising her husband. “So proud of him , for working tirelessly on @brothersosborne new music and other projects… but he is truly the best care taker of me and the twins and it’s totally blown me away, even tho I’m not surprised.”

“I’m so proud of you Artie and May – you’re already so strong cause we stayed strong for you and never gave up,” she continued. “This is the biggest lesson in self love and care I’ve ever had in 45 years on this planet…. they taught me that, and they deserve a mother who does that , for me, for them, for our family. Thank you for the love and support.”

Arthur and Maybelle were discharged on Sunday, April 9, just in time for Easter.

“EASTER SUNDAY AND WE ARE FAMILY!!! Home [ward] bound,” Lucie posted in an Instagram story. In her latest Instagram post, she added, “Ok. Round 2. Bye Bye NICU. You are all incredible … We’re so eternally grateful… will never forget you, and we never wanna see you ever again!”

On the music front, Brothers Osborne released their three-song Nobody’s Nobody Sampler on April 7, with a full-length album arriving later this year.
