The Weeknd seemingly confirms surprise appearance at Coachella

Will The Weeknd be at Coachella this year? Fans seem to think so after he retweeted a post that said he’d be performing at the 2023 festival.

A closer look at The Weeknd’s Twitter shows he was teasing fans Monday when he asked, “Where will you find me?” and posted a desert emoji.

When on Instagram Live, he claimed he was “exposed” after someone in the background indirectly mentioned his Coachella surprise.

“You just said ‘see you in the desert’ on Live. Exposed,” The Weeknd said to the person. “I got exposed.”

Coachella 2023 will take place April 14-16 and April 21-23 in Indio, California. Frank Ocean, Blackpinkand Bad Bunny are headlining the show, with Burna Boy, Metro Boomin, Pusha T, Doechii, Latto, GloRilla and more taking the stage.

In other Weeknd news, the singer announced he’ll soon be dropping a project titled THE IDOL VOL. 1. He recently teased fans with a clip of a Future song, but it’s not clear whether that song will on this album.

Kelsea Ballerini’s celebrating her ACM nominations at Bojangles

Kelsea Ballerini notched two nominations for the 2023 ACM Awards: one for Female Artist of the Year and another for her song “HEARTFIRST,” which received a nod in the newly created Visual Media of the Year category.

Taking to Instagram to share her excitement in real time, Kelsea posted a Story of her at a gas station on the way to grab some food at Bojangles.

“I look like absolute chaos,” Kelsea said in her sweatshirt and hat. “But the bus stopped at a rest stop to get some fuel and I just got two ACM nominations! … And there’s a Bojangles,” she says while walking toward it and telling fans she’s “celebrating” there. The Instagram Story ends with her aptly singing a line from Phil Vassar‘s “Just Another Day In Paradise.”

The 58th Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks, streams live on Amazon Prime Video May 11 at 8 p.m. ET.

Michael Bolton releasing new album, ‘Spark of Light,’ on June 23

Following the debut of a new song, “Spark of Light,” after he exited The Masked Singer, Michael Bolton has now announced a new album of the same name.

Spark of Light will be out June 23, and it marks the first time Michael has created an album of all original songs. He co-wrote all 10 songs — 12 on the deluxe version — with “some of today’s most successful writers and producers,” according to a press release. You can preorder the album now.

In addition, a song from the new album, “Just the Beginning,” is available now. Michael co-wrote it with Zac Barnett from “Best Day of My Life” band American Authors. “We set out to write a big catchy hook and that kind of anthemic chorus that gets people singing along!” Michael says in a statement.

Zac adds, “When you get a call asking if you want to work on a song with Michael Bolton, it’s an easy yes. The man’s a legend! ‘Just the Beginning’ was one of those songs that was easy for us to write — everything flowed so naturally. I honestly couldn’t be more thrilled and honored to play a part in Michael’s new record!”

Spark of Light will be available digitally, on standard and deluxe CDs, and in limited-edition gold vinyl and standard black vinyl. Barnes & Noble will stock a limited-edition blue vinyl version.

Former ‘Drake & Josh’ star Jared Drake Bell reportedly “missing and endangered

Authorities in Daytona Beach, Florida, are searching for former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell. Police say he is considered missing and endangered.

The 36-year-old, whose legal name is Jared Bell, may have last been seen near Mainland High School Wednesday night, according to Daytona Beach police.

The actor, best known for his role in Drake & Josh, is believed to be driving a gray 2022 BMW, police said.

Drake & Josh was a huge hit for Nickelodeon from 2004 to 2007. Bell appeared in a variety of shows in guest roles since then and has had a recurring voice role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in animated shows such as Ultimate Spider-Man from 2012 to 2017, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

In May 2021, Bell made headlines after being indicted on charges stemming from an interaction with a then-15-year-old girl in December 2017. He initially entered a not guilty plea before deciding to take a deal in June: He pleaded guilty to attempted endangering children, a fourth-degree felony, and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a first-degree misdemeanor.

He subsequently explained on Instagram that, “I didn’t get arrested, I didn’t go to jail,” maintaining, “I responded to a fan whose age I didn’t know, and when I became aware of their age, all conversation and communication stopped.”

Jonny Greenwood announces new album with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa

Jonny Greenwood has another new project.

The Radiohead guitarist is teaming up with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa for an album titled Jarak Qaribak, due out June 9. According to a press release, the record will bring together “vocalists and musicians from throughout the Middle East for a very special album of cross-border collaborations.”

Greenwood describes the sound of Jarak Qaribak as “trying to imagine what Kraftwerk would have done if they’d been in Cairo in the 1970s.”

You can listen to single “Ashufak Shay,” which features Rashid Al Najjar, now via digital outlets.

Greenwood, meanwhile, is gearing up to launch a U.S. tour with The Smile, which also features his Radiohead bandmate Thom Yorke, in June.

Bob Dylan’s Shadow Kingdom’ concert film getting first-ever album release

n July 2021, Bob Dylan streamed a special black-and-white concert film, and now music from that experience is finally set for release.

Shadow Kingdom, featuring the 13 tracks performed during the concert, will drop June 2 digitally, and on CD and two-LP vinyl. A full-length feature film of the performance is also being released on June 6 for both download and rental.

The event featured Dylan performing such classics as “Forever Young” and “It’s All over Now, Baby Blue,” along with deep cuts like “Queen Jane Approximately,” “The Wicked Messenger” and more.

Justice Department to take abortion pill fight to Supreme Court: Garland

(WASHINGTON) — The Justice Department on Thursday said it would take the fight over an abortion pill to the Supreme Court after an appeals court ruling that would restrict access to the widely-used abortion pill mifepristone.

The appeals court ruling was set to take effect early Saturday morning.

“The Justice Department strongly disagrees with the Fifth Circuit’s decision in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA to deny in part our request for a stay pending appeal. We will be seeking emergency relief from the Supreme Court to defend the FDA’s scientific judgment and protect Americans’ access to safe and effective reproductive care,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.

Appeals court declines to rule if Trump was acting as federal employee when he allegedly defamed E. Jean Carroll

(NEW YORK) — The D.C. Court of Appeals has declined to answer whether then-President Donald Trump was acting within the scope of his employment when he allegedly defamed writer E. Jean Carroll when denying her rape claim.

Carroll sued Trump for defamation over statements he made in 2019 when he denied her claim that he raped her in the dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman in the 1990s.

Trump, who also denies defaming her, has argued that the Justice Department should be substituted as the defendant in the case because, at the time of his allegedly defamatory statements, he was an employee of the federal government. Such a ruling would make the case go away, as the federal government cannot be sued for defamation.

On Thursday, the D.C. Court of Appeals, which has jurisdiction over federal employees, returned the question to federal court in New York, where Carroll brought the suit.

“We have never adopted a rule that has determined that a certain type of conduct is per se within (or outside of) the scope of employment, and we decline to do so now,” the court said.

The opinion leaves in limbo whether the case can go forward, but Carroll filed a second lawsuit in November alleging defamation and battery that is scheduled for trial April 25.

Trump has sought to delay that trial for four weeks, arguing a “cooling off” period was necessary given the publicity around Trump’s recent criminal indictment on charges of falsifying business records. Carroll has opposed a delay.

Tampa superintendent quotes Taylor Swift songs in warning to students not to skip class for her concert

Taylor Swift is set to take the stage at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Thursday night, and the local school superintendent has created a video warning students not to skip class on Friday because of it — though it doesn’t seem to be a very serious warning.

In a letter and in the video, Hillsborough County Superintendent Addison Davis tells students that he’s aware many of them will be attending Taylor’s show on a school night, and then recites a litany of Taylor song lyrics to explain why they shouldn’t be absent on Friday.

“I understand I am the ‘Anti-Hero’ here, and ‘Call It What You Want,’ but ‘You’re on Your Own Kid’ if you think being a Swiftie is a good excuse for missing important instruction,” Addison says. “You know ‘All Too Well’ you ‘Should’ve Said No’ to attending a Thursday night concert.”

“I hope there is not a ‘Blank Space’ in your seat Friday morning,” he continues. “It could be a ‘Cruel Summer’ if you prioritize being a Swiftie over being in class. ‘You Belong with Me,’ ‘Me!’ in school. Please don’t make me see ‘Red’ with your absence.”

Of course, the torturous way that Taylor’s song lyrics have been shoehorned into the letter seems to suggest that Davis is in on the joke and he, too, knows “All Too Well” that playas gonna play — and kids are gonna skip class.

Locals seem to agree: One person on Reddit wrote, “As someone who had kids in that school district. I wouldn’t take anything Addison Davis says seriously. Enjoy the concert!!!”

Another commenter pointed out, “I mean, one day isn’t going to send your gpa plummeting and prevent you from graduating so like let the kids live??”

Gene Simmons performs KISS show seated after falling ill during Brazilian show

Gene Simmons isn’t going to let anything stop a KISS show. The rocker performed part of the band’s Manaus, Brazil, show Wednesday sitting down after falling ill during the show.

According to the Brazilian outlet G1, toward the end of the show Simmons asked a stagehand to bring him a chair and he sat down. The show was eventually stopped, with Paul Stanley telling the crowd they needed to take a break to help Simmons out.

“We’ll need to stop to take care of him because we love him, right?” Stanley is heard telling the crowd in fan-shot footage. “Let’s give Gene a very loud ‘Gene’: 1, 2, 3! OK!” The band returned to the stage about five minutes later.

It appears the heat may have gotten to Simmons. The temperature in Manaus at the time of the concert was about 80 degrees.

KISS is currently on the Latin American leg of their End of the Road tour. They play Bogotá, Colombia, on April 15. A complete list of dates can be found at kissonline.com.
