Halestorm‘s Arejay Hale and Lit‘s Taylor Carroll have released a new song called “Dead and Gone,” the debut track from their joint band, Kemikalfire.

The two drummers first got the idea to collaborate after a chance meeting in 2009 at the Mall of America parking lot, where the tour buses of their respective bands happened to be parked next to each other. They finally got around to putting Kemikalfire together, with Carroll on vocals and guitar and Hale sticking on drums, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Kemikalfire is a pathway to release for any and all feelings, frustrations and struggles we all experience in our worlds and in ourselves,” Hale says. “‘Dead and Gone’ was written from a genuine and honest question: how will we be remembered after we die, if even remembered at all? It’s a song we hope can encourage those to make positive change, chase fulfillment in their lives, live and die with no regrets and never having to ask themselves, ‘What if?'”

Tina Turner’s music has been a big part of a lot of people’s lives, but have you ever wondered what music she listens to? NME asked Tina about the soundtrack to her life, and you may be surprised by some of the answers.

Tina says the first song she ever heard “must have been in church,” because “that was the only place we went to except for school and working in the fields.” She can’t name the first album she ever bought, because she started performing at such a young age. “I never had the chance to own any albums,” she says.

Her hit song “What’s Love Got To Do With It” is one she wishes she wrote herself, even though she admits, “I didn’t like ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ when I first heard it.” She adds that David Bowie’s “Tonight” is the song that makes her cry, explaining, “Some of the duets that I have done with people I cared about who have since passed on, like David Bowie, make me sad. So it has to be this one.”

Turner doesn’t have a go-to karaoke song because she’s never done karaoke, and as for songs she simply can’t get out of her head, Tina says there are too many to choose from.

“That is ever changing,” she explains. “I love listening to music so it could be anything – Rolling Stones, David Bowie or Beyoncé,” adding, “Coldplay also puts me in a good mood!”

And don’t expect to hear any pop tunes when she’s being laid to rest. Asked what song she wants played at her funeral, Tina replied, “I know as a Buddhist that sounds of nature will be involved.”

Paramore‘s concert in Dublin this week was extra Irish thanks to a cover of The Cranberries.

In the middle of the set, Hayley Williams performed a solo, acoustic rendition of Dolores O’Riordan and company’s debut single, “Dreams.” As soon as she started, what sounds like the whole crowd started singing along, which Williams declared to be “insane.”

“I’ve thought about this for years and you sound better than I’ve imagined it,” she said.

At the end of the song, Williams dedicated the performance to the late O’Riordan, shouting, “For Dolores, baby!”

Paramore’s tour will come to the U.S. in May. The group is supporting their new album, This Is Why, which dropped in February.

Former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has had enough of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Lydon, who lives in California just 60 miles away from the former royal couple, says he understands why they would need to take a step back from the spotlight, but doesn’t understand why they really aren’t doing it.

“If you want to be normal and outside of [the family], then f*** off. Just f*** off and shut up,” the singer says. “I’ve had to make decisions like this in the past. I had to leave the Pistols. I had to break up PiL a couple of times because the situation was unsustainable.” 

Lydon thinks they simply need to move on. “If that was their dilemma then please go away, all right? And we’ll love you for it. But they won’t,” he says.

Lydon believes the whole thing with the royal family is just “so messy,” and he’s particularly not OK with Prince Harry airing their dirty laundry in his memoir, Spare.

“I’ve never been one for kiss-and-tell books,” he says. “They’re very, very spiteful to families and friends.”

While they probably could have if they’d asked, Barack Obama and Joe Biden did not go to Taylor Swift‘s concert in Tampa, Florida, Thursday night.

As People reports, a Taylor fan account posted videos on Twitter claiming they showed Biden leaving Taylor’s show, and Obama and his wife, Michelle, watching from a box seat. Entertainment Tonight even reported that Biden and his former boss were at the show. Only problem was, they weren’t.

For one thing, the president is in Ireland and was giving a speech in Dublin on Thursday evening, which a White House spokesperson re-confirmed to People Friday morning. As for the Obamas, the video was taken at a Beyoncé concert in 2018. A spokesperson for Obama told People the report that they were at Taylor’s concert was “definitely false.”

Taylor did support Biden in the last presidential election, proudly displaying a batch of Biden/Harris cookies on Instagram in 2020. Who knows? Perhaps both the current and former president will make it to one of her tour stops at some point.

Mackenzie Carpenter has dropped her self-titled debut EP, which includes the hilarious newly released track, “Throw You Back.” The five-song set is Mackenzie’s first collection of music released with her label home, The Valory Music Co.
