Atreyu has premiered the video for “God/Devil,” a track off the band’s new EP, The Hope of a Spark.
The clip contrasts the more serious nature of the lyrics with footage of the Atreyu band members dancing and goofing around in a graveyard. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.
The Hope of a Spark, which includes four new songs, was released Friday, April 14. It follows Atreyu’s 2021 album, Baptize.
Atreyu will launch a U.S. tour April 27 in Sacramento, California.
Julian Lennon continues to try to raise awareness of the many issues plaguing the environment, and he’s doing so with a brand new project. The singer and his White Feather Foundation have joined forces with Future Youth Records for a new EP that will raise funds for environmental issues.
The Think Earth 23 EP, dropping Sunday, April 23, for Earth Day, features a cover of Lennon’s 1991 track “Saltwater,” written about our world’s climate issues. Artists on the tune include Toto keyboardist Steve Porcaro, Wings guitarist Laurence Juber, The Mars Volta bassist Eva Gardner and Jim Keltner, a session drummer who worked with Julian’s dad, John Lennon.
The EP also includes a remix of “Save Me,” from Lennon’s 2022 album, Jude, by German youth artist Josh Heitzler.
“I always try to do something special on Earth Day one way or another,” Lennon tells People. “I tend to go with my gut on these things. And this was one of those project ideas that I thought, ‘Okay, well I kind of like this,’” adding, “Especially considering it was about a lot of the kids and their involvement in not only environmental and humanitarian issues, but the arts too, and music.”
Lennon’s White Feather Foundation, which he founded in 2007, will donate proceeds from the EP to its Save the Mirning Sea Country Campaign to “help preserve critical biodiversity and protect a sacred Aboriginal culture.” Future Youth Records will use its share to help young artists as they “inspire environmental change and social justice through music.”
(GROTON, Conn.) — A fuel tanker truck rolled over on the Gold Star Bridge in Groton, Connecticut, on Friday, sparking a massive fire and shutting down traffic on Interstate 95.
The driver of the truck died at the scene and two people have been taken to hospitals, New London Mayor Michael Passero said.
(GASTONIA, N.C.) — The 24-year-old man accused of shooting a 6-year-old girl, her parents and another neighbor after a basketball rolled into his yard in North Carolina is now in police custody.
Robert Singletary appeared in court on Friday and signed an extradition waiver. He turned himself in on Thursday to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, authorities said.
Neighbors told ABC News’ Charlotte affiliate WSOC-TV the shooting on Tuesday started when a basketball rolled into Singletary’s yard from a group of local children playing basketball in the street. Singletary allegedly fired a gun at a neighbor before approaching a father and daughter, William James White and 6-year-old Kinsley White, who were both seriously wounded.
One woman was grazed by a bullet and a second man was shot at but not injured, police said.
William White remains in serious condition, according to police.
“Why did you shoot my daddy and me? Why did you shoot a kid’s dad?” Kinsley asked in an emotional interview, stitches visible on her cheek from the bullet fragments that hit her.
Family members said William White tried to draw gunfire toward himself to protect his family as Singletary unloaded an entire magazine toward his neighbor. White was shot in the back in his own front yard, according to his partner, Ashley Hilderbrand.
“He looked at my husband and my daughter and told them, ‘I’m going to kill you,'” Hilderbrand said.
Singletary is charged with four counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
In December, Singletary was separately charged with assaulting his girlfriend with a mini sledgehammer, leading her to bleed profusely from the back of the head and forcing her inside an apartment for two hours.
“The victim further stated that Singletary told her that she could not leave until she had cleaned up all the evidence from the assault,” police said.
“I want to say to the people of Gaston County this sort of violence will not stand,” Gaston County Police chief, Stephen M. Zill, said.
The North Carolina shooting follows a string of similar incidents where seemingly ordinary mistakes have led to serious consequences involving firearms. Over the last week, two cheerleaders in Texas were shot after entering the wrong car in a parking lot, a woman in New York was killed after entering the wrong driveway and a 16-year-old in Missouri was shot after ringing the doorbell to a wrong home.
Friday marked Mark Consuelos’ first full week as wife Kelly Ripa‘s co-host following Ryan Seacrest‘s departure from LIVE with Kelly and Ryan.
To Us Weekly, the other half of the newly rebranded LIVE with Kelly and Mark is giving the Riverdale veteran a thumbs-up. “I had no concerns about how well he was going to do and he really proved me right,” Kelly tells the magazine. “I’m so proud of him, but I was never worried.”
Ripa, 52, also shared the words of advice she had for the guy she’s been married to since 1996, just before they made their first official appearance as co-hosts: “The advice I gave him was to just keep being yourself, enjoy every moment and be present. He took it from there.”
And while the first week is in the history books, the ratings book took note, as well: The magazine says Mark’s debut as co-host saw double-digit increases in viewership with female audiences.
The Used has premiered a new song called “Numb,” a track off the band’s upcoming album, Toxic Positivity.
“Numb” is not a cover of the Linkin Park hit, but an original tune that relates back to The Used’s song “To Feel Something,” which appears on their 2020 album, Heartwork.
Toxic Positivity, the follow-up to Heartwork, arrives May 19. The Used will hit the road in support of the record on a co-headlining tour with Pierce the Veil, kicking off in May.
(NEW YORK) — As severe weather moves east, a round of damaging storms is expected on Friday from Louisiana to Ohio.
At least 15 tornadoes were reported across three states earlier this week, causing severe damage and leaving three people dead in Oklahoma. At least eight of those tornadoes were reported in Oklahoma. Huge hail — some the size of a softball — was reported from Illinois to Texas.
On Thursday, damaging straight line winds up to 81 mph were reported in Cook County, near Chicago. Baseball-sized hail fell in Henry County, Illinois.
Severe weather will move east over the next two days bringing damaging winds and hail from the Gulf Coast to the Mid-Atlantic.
Strong to severe storms will hit the South, including New Orleans; Jackson, Mississippi; and Houston as well as another area from Ohio to western Pennsylvania and western New York. The biggest threat Friday will be isolated damaging winds, some hail and even isolated tornadoes.
The threat moves to the East Coast over the weekend and will stretch from coastal Georgia to the Carolinas and into Virginia and Maryland. Areas in the bull’s-eye will be Savannah, Georgia; Charleston, South Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; and Washington, D.C.
The biggest threat Saturday will be damaging winds and some hail. There is also a chance of an isolated tornado in the Mid-Atlantic. Some of the storms could even reach Baltimore and Philadelphia.
Most of the Northeast will not see severe weather, but heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible in New Jersey, New York City and into southern New England.
The heaviest rain hits New York City Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Street flooding is possible. Locally, some areas could see up to 3 inches of rain in a short period of time, with some flash flooding possible.
When you think of NASA and outer space, the first person you think of is Post Malone, right? Yeah, we don’t either, but still, Posty got to interview some NASA astronauts who are living on the International Space Station in honor of Earth Day, which Saturday, April 22.
“Station, this is Posty, can you hear me?” the rapper asked astronauts Steve Bowen and Woody Hoburg. He then introduced himself using his birth name, Austin, and said it was an honor to talk to them.
“I’d imagine you guys, up there, have the most baller view in the universe,” he said.
“We have a super special planet and getting to see it every day from this perspective really drives that home,” said Hoburg. He added, “Being up here, the vantage point is just incredible. Every day, looking out and seeing that incredible horizon and our big blue marble, it’s such a special place.”
“You realize what an incredible civilization as whole [we have] that allows us to be able to do this,” Bowen noted.
Hoburg praised Posty for his interviewing skills, and wished him and his fans the best.
The Academy of Country Music has announced the event lineup for its ACM Awards Week, which spans three days: Tuesday, May 9, to Thursday, May 11.
The week will kick off with ACM Country Kickoff at The Star, a free two-day music and entertainment festival that is open to the public. Happening on May 9 and May 10, the extravaganza will feature performances from some of country music’s promising newcomers and ACM nominees, a Coors Light-presented beer garden, food trucks and an ACM Awards merchandise booth.
