Rick Allen is giving fans an update on his health.

As previously reported, the Def Leppard drummer was attacked last month outside the Four Seasons Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. But in a new post on social media, it looks like Allen is doing a lot better.

“Thank you all so very much for all of your love and support over the last month,” he shared next to a smiling photo. “I am still recovering and getting my mind and body ready for the upcoming Def Leppard tour. Just wanted to say hi and let you know, There Will Be Rock!”

A 19-year-old man from Ohio named Max Hartley was arrested for attacking Allen. He reportedly snuck up behind the rocker, who hit his head when he was thrown to the ground.

Allen has some more time to focus on his recovery. Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe don’t kick off the European and U.K. legs of their stadium tour until May 22, in Sheffield, England. A complete list of dates can be found at DefLeppard.com.

Yet another reason to be jealous of Jennifer Lopez

ABC

Let’s see: Jennifer Lopez is a movie star, a chart-topping recording artist, a beauty mogul, a fashion icon, a mom to two great kids, a multimillionaire, and she’s married to an Oscar-winning actor and director. But it turns out there’s yet another reason to be jealous of J.Lo, and you can blame her husband, Ben Affleck, for spilling the beans about it.

Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday, Affleck told Barrymore, “Let me tell you something that’s gonna upset you. Jennifer just eats whatever she wants.”

As a look of shock slowly crept over Barrymore’s face, he continued, “Whatever she wants. Pizza, cookies, ice cream … everything.”

“Is it the working out?” Barrymore asked. “She works out,” Affleck confirmed. “I mean, I work out too, but I don’t magically appear to be 20 years old, you know what I mean, with perfect skin and the whole thing.”

He continued, “There’s no taking away the work ethic. The work ethic is real, the discipline is real, but also the superhuman thing is real. She’s the most gorgeous woman in the world, she looks spectacular.”

At that point, Drew laid down on the couch she was sitting on and closed her eyes. “Did I put you to sleep?” Affleck asked.

“No, I’m swooning,” she laughed. “This is me living vicariously through romance and men appreciating women and all of it!”

Of course, Ben may not be paying close attention. Earlier this month, Women’s Health collected all the things that J.Lo and her trainers have said about her diet. In reality, she allegedly only eats organic whole foods, drinks water all day long, avoids alcohol and caffeine, eats a lot of leafy greens, and snacks on fruits and vegetables.

Scarlett Johansson “done” with Marvel, talks ‘Iron Man 2’ feud rumors on Gwyneth Paltrow’s podcast

There’s a line in Iron Man 2 when Tony Stark sarcastically asks Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Pepper Potts what she thinks about Stark Industry’s new hire, Scarlett Johansson‘s Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow.

“I thought that you two didn’t get along?” Robert Downey Jr.’s Stark asks. “No, that’s not so,” Paltrow’s Potts responds.

Turns out, in real life that was the rumor, too.

“Is that a rumor?” Johansson asked in disbelief on Paltrow’s Goop Podcast. “You were so nice to me on that movie. I was so petrified … You could’ve been awful. I had no idea — I was so out of my comfort zone on that movie. I’d never done anything like that before.”

For her part, Paltrow added, “I was so happy to have another woman around.”

“You kept telling me that,” Johansson responded, giggling. “When I did Avengers I was one of the few [women].” She added that, excepting Cobie Smulders, who played Maria Hill, the movie was “a big sausage party.”

She added, “Doing Avengers was so much fun. I was 26, I was single … I didn’t have any responsibilities.”

ScarJo compared her time on the Marvel movies to “an adult summer camp,” adding they were “some of my best experiences.” But she noted, “I’m done. That chapter is over. I kind of did all that I had to do.”

Once again, Paltrow’s famously flawed Marvel memory failed her, with her asking, “Was I in Avengers?!”

She was.

ScarJo added Paltrow could come back, however. “As 64-year-old Pepper Potts?” Paltrow joked.

Johansson added, “One hundred percent that’s happening. I can see it … break out that wig, baby.”

The Hu has announced a tree-planting project in their home country of Mongolia in honor of Earth Day.

For the campaign, 12,000 Siberian elms will be planted in the southeastern region of Mongolia, which overlaps with the Gobi Desert. When the trees are grown, together they will form the shape of The Hu’s logo.

Fans will have a chance to buy one of the trees to help fund the initiative. Stay tuned for more details.

Meanwhile, The Hu has also premiered a new lyric video for the song “Mother Nature,” a track off the group’s 2022 album, Rumble of Thunder.

“Everyone in this world belongs to a mother and this song narrates the similarities between one’s relationship with their mother and the connection between humans and the Earth,” The Hu says. “In a way, Earth is another mother that bore us to this world. In Mongolia, mothers are highly regarded and respected and we believe that even after death, their soul protects their child as their love is limitless.”

A deluxe version of Rumble of Thunder, featuring collaborations with System of a Down‘s Serj Tankian and Alice in ChainsWilliam DuVall, is due out June 30.

Codes of honor: Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim talk ‘Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant’

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant isn’t the usual Guy Ritchie film. Gone are the hyperkinetic cinematography and edit jumps, trading up for grounded, measured combat and razor-tense action sequences. But one thing remains: Ritchie’s knack for focusing on imperfect characters, which is where Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim come in.

“These guys begrudgingly are heroes to each other,” Gyllenhaal tells ABC Audio.

The war drama puts Gyllenhaal’s U.S. Army Sgt. John Kinley on a rescue mission to save his Afghan interpreter, Ahmed, played by Salim. Both are put in extraordinary circumstances during the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan. They’re from very different backgrounds and thrown into situations they would rather avoid, but it’s their debt to each other that holds strong when the Taliban goes on the hunt for them.

“I also think that’s what really makes it human in a lot of ways,” Gyllenhaal adds. “Ultimately, that’s what really moves me because I think the fabric of humanity is made from these types of actions.”

“It’s a reluctant relationship. It’s an unsentimental relationship,” Salim tells ABC Audio. “It shows how much unites us more than divides us. It was important for me to portray a guy that you could relate to even though he’s from that part of the world.”

Gyllenhaal is no stranger to military portrayals onscreen, having played a real-life Marine in 2005’s Jarhead, a movie praised for its accuracy of military personnel and combat tactics. Gyllenhaal tells ABC Audio that sort of realism and those expectations are also on display here. “It’s always an honor and also I think puts an extra pressure on you because you want to be able to deliver for them, you know?” he says.

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant is in theaters now.

People magazine’s annual Most Beautiful People issue will be out next week, but the mag has given us a sneak preview of who made the list … and Lizzo‘s on it.

The mag writes of the “About Damn Time” star, “Beautiful inside and out, Lizzo, 34, has continued to keep fans feeling ‘Special’ with her meaningful music — all while entertaining them to no end on Instagram and TikTok.”

Case in point, Lizzo posted a TikTok in which she explains that she’s given her makeup artist the day off, so she’s doing a “Get Ready with Me” video to show off her glam skills.

After slapping on the color corrector, contour, lip mask and tinted moisturizer — crediting the latter for the secret to her “natural”-looking makeup — she added concealer, powder and mascara, as well as Selena Gomez‘s Rare Beauty blush.

After doing her lips, she shows off the full look — and it’s pretty impressive, even without eye shadow, which she says she doesn’t use.

But Lizzo reveals she’s most proud of the one feature she doesn’t have to do much with: her eyebrows.

“Oh my God, my brows are … beautiful and I don’t even do nothing to them. I’m really grateful. Thank you God and my parents,” she jokes.

Blackbox

John Oates continues to share a new track each month, and his latest is his take on the Louis Armstrong classic “What A Wonderful World.”

“What an honor for me to be able to cover one of Americas’ [sic] greatest popular songs,” Oates says. “A true classic and a song that just makes everyone feel good.”

He adds, “I hope you dig the 70s R&B style approach to the arrangement. I wanted it to be more upbeat and tried to make it my own.”

“What A Wonderful World” is the fourth single Oates has released this year, following “Why Can’t We Live Together,” “Disconnected” and “Pushin’ A Rock.”

And fans can see Oates sing these songs and more when he hits the road this year. He has several dates on the books, kicking off with a May 7 gig in Austin, Texas. A complete list of dates can be found at JohnOates.com.

Niko Moon and Zac Brown hope “HEAVEN HAS A BAR”

Sony Music Nashville

Niko Moon has tapped Zac Brown for an exuberant new song, “HEAVEN HAS A BAR.”

The track arrives after several teases from Niko on social media, which included photos of the two of them in the studio.

“I hope heaven has a bar/ Sip holy spirits out the jar/ Where every night is a Friday night/ And every beer is cold as ice/ I hope heaven has a band/ Where all the Opry legends jam/ A neon angel on a steel guitar/ A little prayer from a country boy’s heart/ I hope heaven has a bar,” goes the feel-good chorus.

“[‘HEAVEN HAS A BAR’ is] a song of simplicity, down-homeness, and celebration. I think Zac and I find a lot of value in the simple things: Family and friends, and celebrating life is what it’s all about,” Niko shares in a statement. “This is about celebrating with all the people you love once you go to heaven.”

Zac adds, “I like the imagination in this song. Whatever there is after life ends, that love of music doesn’t go away. To go see all of our heroes that have passed away and play some music, maybe that’s heaven for us.”

“HEAVEN HAS A BAR” is the first song either Niko or Zac have released in 2023.
