Keith Richards makes surprise appearance at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday bash

Keith Richards made a surprise appearance at Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles over the weekend. Rolling Stone reports that Richards joined the birthday boy Sunday night for a performance of Waylon Jennings’ “We Had It All” and Billy Joe Shaver’s “Live Forever.”

“I’d like to thank Willie for inviting me to this party,” Richards told the crowd.

The two-night Nelson birthday party, Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90, featured a lineup that included Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Warren Haynes, Sheryl Crow and Snoop Dogg.

Saturday’s show, according Variety, featured a whole host of highlights, including: Young and Stills teaming up with Promise of the Real for “Long May You Run” and “For What It’s Worth”; Willie and Young, along with Lukas and Micah Nelson, performing “Are There Any More Real Cowboys”; Haynes performing the Allman Brothers Band classic “Midnight Rider”; and Rosanne Cash and Kris Kristofferson performing “Lovin’ Her Was Easier (Than Anything I’ll Ever Do Again).”

Both nights featured a “Happy Birthday” serenade to the singing legend. As for his actual birthday, Willie shared on social media, “I was born before midnight on the 29th but it didn’t get registered in the county courthouse until the next day, the 30th. So, it went out officially as the 30th. So I just do both days.”

Lil Wayne to livestream last stop of his Welcome to Tha Carter Tour

Lil Wayne is giving more fans an opportunity to see his Welcome to Tha Carter Tour before it comes to an end. The final stop of his sold-out trek, taking place May 13 at The Wiltern in LA, will be livestreamed globally and rebroadcast twice for his supporters to watch.

Like the in-person show, fans will need tickets for access to the livestream, which will air May 9 at 9 p.m. ET. on Driift. It will then rebroadcast May 14 at 3 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET, and will be on demand from May 14 at 5 p.m. ET to May 16 at 3 p.m. ET.

Wayne’s Welcome to Tha Carter Tour features the rapper performing 40 songs from his discography. Tickets for the global livestream are currently on sale.

LL Cool J says The F.O.R.C.E. Live tour is “going to be a show unlike anything” else

LL Cool J‘s The F.O.R.C.E. Live will be his first headlining tour in 30 years, and according to the star, it will be bigger and better than anything his fans have ever seen from him.

“This is going to be a show unlike anything,” he said on Instagram Live to The Roots‘ Questlove and Black Thought, who will be joining him on the trek. “I haven’t done an arena tour in many years, you know what I’m sayin’? And I put all my energy into making this thing right. This is like everything we’ve ever done on super-roids. So it’s going to be way more than you can imagine, you know what I’m sayin’?”

Quest, who says the opportunity is “super major,” further teased the outing will be formatted similarly to the hip-hop tribute he produced at the Grammys in honor of the genre’s milestone 50th birthday.

“I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel,” said Quest. “But, I’m also trying to give people something that they’ve never seen before … the way we’re formatting the show, it’s going to be like the Grammys performance on steroids.”

The F.O.R.C.E. Live aka the “ultimate Hip Hop mash-up tour” will begin June 25 in Boston, with fellow hip-hop stars The Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Z-Trip. Others including Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Ross, Queen Latifah, Big Boi, De La Soul, Jadakiss, Method Man, Redman, Rakim and Common will also pop out for appearances sometime during the tour.

Kimberly Perry’s debuting her solo EP

The Band Perry‘s lead vocalist, Kimberly Perry, has announced her debut solo EP, BLOOM.

Arriving June 9 via RECORDS Nashville/Columbia Records, the five-song set will feature the lead single “If I Die Young Pt. 2,” which drops Friday, May 5.

“BLOOM is a record I’ve been dreaming of making since I was a kid,” shares Kimberly. “It’s been a really rewarding experience to think in a highly feminine way. It’s really pulled together all of the threads of what I’ve always been drawn to musically and lyrically.”

Of “If I Die Young Pt. 2,” Kimberly adds, “I felt like the story wasn’t finished. There needed to be a sequel that talked about where my head is these days now that I’ve experienced so much life – I’m having a baby, I’m married, I’ve moved to Nashville; I’ve seen all of these dreams come true since writing the original version.”

Kimberly’s launch as a solo artist arrives after The Band Perry announced their “creative break as a group” on Instagram on March 27.

Montana trans lawmaker Zooey Zephyr sues state over censure

(HELENA, Mont.) — Montana state legislator Zooey Zephyr is suing the state, House Speaker Matt Regier and Sergeant at Arms for the Montana House of Representatives Bradley Murfitt after being censured by House Republicans.

“The recent actions violate my 1st amendment rights, as well as the rights of my 11,000 constituents to representation,” Zephyr said in a tweet Monday. “Montana’s State House is the people’s House, not Speaker Regier’s, and I’m determined to defend the right of the people to have their voices heard.”

Zephyr’s calls to vote against a gender-affirming care ban for transgender youth on bill SB99 prompted days of being ignored by Republican leaders on the House floor in April.

Some legislators, including Regier, argued she had broken House rules of decorum when she said legislators would have “blood on your hands” if they passed the transgender youth care ban.

Demonstrators in support of Zephyr interrupted House business several days later to protest her being silenced. Zephyr showed her support by holding up her mic and failing to leave the House floor.

House Republicans voted to censure her in response, getting just over the two-thirds needed to bar her from participating in the legislature from the House floor.

Zephyr has since participated from the public seating in the state Capitol building.

Anthrax returns to studio to work on new album

Anthrax is officially back in the studio.

According to a press release, guitarist Scott Ian, drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello have been working with producer Jay Ruston in “laying down basic tracks” for the next Anthrax album. The thrash metallers collaborated with Ruston on their last two records, 2016’s For All Kings and 2011’s Worship Music.

Next up is for singer Joey Belladonna to record his vocals, and guitarist Jonathan Donais to record his leads and solos.

The title and release date for the upcoming album is still TBA, so stay tuned.

Anthrax has been touring over the past year while celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary. Last July, they released XL, a live album and concert film capturing their 2021 streaming performance.

The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons headlining 2023 Sing Out Loud festival

Did Richard Madden’s “delicious” Instagram video with Stanley Tucci tip off a possible future as 007?

It should be said that nobody except James Bond series producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson knows who will fill Daniel Craig‘s shoes as the next 007.

That said, a video with Richard Madden and Stanley Tucci has the internet shaken and stirred.

The pair star in the Prime Video spy series Citadel and apropos of maybe nothing, they posted a video of themselves enjoying a beverage to kick off the weekend.

Not coincidentally, they’re sipping martinis — also not coincidentally, James Bond’s liquid refreshment of choice.

“How’s yours?” Tucci asks, to which Madden replies, “Delicious.”

It didn’t take long for followers to make the connection. “Hope that’s shaken and not stirred,” one opined.

Another noted plainly, “richard madden for james bond pls.”

After Idris Elba, one fan favorite choice, took himself out of the running last year, Broccoli told Variety it’s not an easy gig for any actor.

She commented, “[W]hen we cast Bond, it’s a 10-, 12-year commitment. So [Idris] is probably thinking, ‘Do I really want that thing?’ Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to agree],” to which Wilson added, “And he was in his early 30s at the time!”

Broccoli added, “A lot of people think, ‘Oh yeah, it’d be fun to do one. Well. That ain’t gonna work.”

As many as 100 homes damaged by tornado in Virginia Beach, officials say

(NEW YORK) — Between 50 and 100 homes have been damaged by a tornado in Virginia Beach, according to officials.

The tornado struck Virginia Beach just before 6 p.m. on Sunday as severe storms moved through much of the East Coast, according to the National Weather Service.

The twister touched down near River Road and North Great Neck Road, according to the City of Virginia Beach. Several nearby schools and roads are closed as a result.

Virginia Beach resident Jennifer Toppel told ABC News the tornado formed right above her home.

“We heard the roar and we quickly took cover, hiding in our pantry,” Toppel said. “We could actually see snapped pine trees and debris flying 100 feet in the air.”

As Toppel and her family took cover, Toppel’s husband left the pantry to grab their dog and saw the tornado touch down in Lynnhaven River.

Sunday’s tornado may be the strongest since an EF2 hit the area on March 31, 2017, records show. The National Weather Service will conduct a survey on Monday.

Virginia Beach City Manager Patrick Duhaney declared a local state of emergency Sunday night. There have been no reports of any injuries or fatalities as a result of the storm, city officials said.

Tornado warnings led to the cancellation of the third day of the Something in the Water music festival.

Tornado activity has been affecting much of the Southeast in the past week. Seven tornadoes were reported in Florida and Georgia on Thursday, and more tornadoes rolled through Florida’s Atlantic coast on Saturday — including a confirmed twister in Palm Beach.

The same storm system that allowed a tornado to form in Virginia Beach brought flooding conditions to the Northeast on Monday morning. Flash flood warnings were in effect in Maine, where up to 4 inches of rain have already fallen, with another 1 to 2 inches possible through Monday, forecasts show.

Some flooding in the region has caused road closures with the potential for more road washouts.

Flood warnings are also in effect in New Hampshire and parts of New Jersey.

Britney Spears spent more than K on clothes … for her dogs

Britney Spears may not be touring anymore, but she certainly doesn’t seem to be hurting for money. On Instagram, she revealed that she spent thousands of dollars on clothing … for her dogs.

“My dogs have more clothes than I do !!! spoiled !!!” Britney wrote, captioning a video of herself dancing with a white Maltese. She wrote that another one of her dogs, Sara Beth, was at a dog show and added, “I bought a miniature Louis V doggie backpack for [her]…200 dollars for that little baby … then linen suspenders … I swear to god I was shocked when I saw it too !!!”

“White suspenders and khaki mini shorts for her booty … That was 2000 for a piece of cloth,” Britney continued. She also mentioned that another one of her dogs, Daisy — which fans believe is the one she’s dancing with in the video — “needs grooming twice a week.”

Britney has at least one other dog and possibly a cat.
