A new trailer has just been released for the upcoming documentary Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis), which tells the story of the art studio known for some of the most iconic album covers in history.
The studio, run by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell, created album covers for artists like Sir Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Genesis and particularly Pink Floyd, including their classic The Dark Side of the Moon.
The trailer for the Anton Corbijn-directed film includes interview clips from the likes of McCartney, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and Noel Gallagher.
The movie, which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, is set to open in New York on June 7 and Los Angeles June 16, expanding nationwide on June 20.
Bring Me the Horizon has premiered a new single called “LosT.”
The track, which Oli Sykes and company first started teasing in March, is available now via digital outlets. You can also watch its accompanying, and very bloody, video, which stars Sykes as he tries to escape a creepy hospital, streaming now on YouTube.
“LosT” follows Bring Me the Horizon’s 2022 single “sTraNgeRs.” The group has been working on the follow-up to their 2020 EP, Post Human: Survival Horror.
Bring Me the Horizon will be touring the U.S. this summer while opening for Fall Out Boy.
E-40 made Rolling Stone‘s list for the 100 Greatest West Coast hip-hop songs with “Captain Save a Hoe,” but he believes another one of his hits should have made the cut.
Taking to Twitter Wednesday, he showed his appreciation for the mention while noting the missing song.
“Hey Rolling Stone, appreciate you guys for including ‘Captain Save a Hoe’ at No. 18 of your 100 Greatest West Coast Hip-Hop Songs of All Time,” E-40 tweeted. “But there’s no excuse for ‘Tell Me When To Go’ being completely left off the list #Timeless.”
“Captain Save a Hoe” released in 1994 and peaked at #94 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Tell Me When To Go” dropped years later in 2006, peaking at #35 on the Hot 100 list. It has since been certified Gold by the RIAA.
E-40’s “Captain Save a Hoe” joins Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg‘s“Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang,” Too $hort‘s “Blow the Whistle,” Ice Cube‘s “It Was A Good Day” and other songs that have landed in the top 20.
Thomas Rhett kicks off his Home Team Tour 23 on May 4. But before the tour officially starts, Thomas’ four girls had surprise gifts for him.
Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love and Lillie Carolina decided to express their love and gratitude for their dad with drawings and notes.
One drawing from all four of them read, “We are so proud of you Daddy,” while another from Ada had the words, “I love you Daddy” on it with rainbow and stickman drawings of her and Thomas.
“My team trying to make me cry first night of tour… sheesh,” Thomas tweeted alongside images of the drawings he received.
The 40-city Home Team Tour 23 begins May 4 in Des Moines, Iowa, and will conclude in Nashville on September 30. Cole Swindell and Nate Smith will serve as opening acts.

Sting is set to give a special live performance at the U.K.’s 2023 Ivor Awards, taking place May 18 in London.
As previously reported, The Police frontman will be given the Ivors’ highest honor during the ceremony: he’ll become a Fellow of the Ivors Academy. Previous artists who’ve been named Fellows include Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
“Of all the awards in the world of music, The Ivors are for me, the most prestigious. Songwriting is a skilled craft and The Ivors Academy are its guild,” Sting previously said about the honor. “So, I am delighted and honored to be offered this Fellowship of the Academy, joining and acknowledging this extraordinary group of fellow songwriters, and all of those who went before us.”
The Ivors, which have been handed out since 1956, are the most prestigious music honor in the United Kingdom. They celebrate excellence in British and Irish songwriting, and are peer awards, voted on by other British and Irish songwriters and composers.
This year’s nominees include Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Kate Bush and Glass Animals.
The 2023 Ivors ceremony will be broadcast on the Amazon Music UK channel on Twitch, with artists RAYE and Matilda Mann also performing. The telecast will also include a live red carpet and backstage interviews.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger action comedy series FUBAR comes to Netflix in a few weeks, and in a new clip he just shared from the show, emotions are felt.
Literally.
Arnold’s overprotective father, Luke, is trying to work out his issues with his daughter Emma at a therapist’s office, thanks to “Sesame Street quality Muppets” representing each of them. The pair have issues, as neither knew the other was a CIA agent, and their history comes out with each star puppeting the other’s fuzzy avatar.
“My daddy is a fossil. He knows nothing about anything, because he was born before 1992,” Arnold says, imitating a woman’s voice. “So he should shut up and let me ruin my life.”
Monica Barbaro‘s Emma is shocked and grabs the bearded Arnold puppet, before affecting his famous accent. “I’m Luke Brunner. I ruined my own marriage, but I’m the expert on everyone else’s,” she says.
“I have muscles, so that means I know everything,” she continues, making the puppet flex. “And I’m from Austria, where life was hard and everything cost a nickel. The only thing I can’t lift is my own ego!”
The series, which also stars Fortune Feimster and Gabriel Luna, debuts on May 25.
Ed Sheeran isn’t going to be quitting music, but he’s “unbelievably frustrated” that he had to defend his songwriting in court.
Earlier Thursday in New York City, Sheeran won a copyright infringement lawsuit involving his Grammy-winning song “Thinking Out Loud” and the Marvin Gaye classic “Let’s Get It On.” During the trial, Sheeran said he would quit music if he was found liable. Speaking outside the courtroom following his victory, he said, “It looks like I’m not going to have to retire from my day job after all.”
However, he said, “I am unbelievably frustrated that baseless claims like this are allowed to go to court at all. We have spent the last eight years talking about two songs with dramatically different lyrics, melodies and four chords which are also different and used by songwriters every day, all over the world.”
Sheeran pointed out that chords are “common building blocks” that all songwriters use, adding, “No one owns them or the way they are played, in the same way nobody owns the color blue.”
Overall, Sheeran said that writers should be able to “write our original music and engage in independent creation without worrying at every step of the way that such creativity will be wrongly called into question.”
“It is devastating to be accused of stealing other people’s songs when we have put so much work into our livelihoods,” Sheeran continued. “I am just a guy with a guitar who loves writing music for people to enjoy. I am not and will never allow myself to be a piggy bank for anyone to shake.”
“Having to be in New York for this trial has meant that I have missed being with my family at my grandmother’s funeral in Ireland. I won’t get that time back.”
He then thanked his team, the jury and his co-writer, Amy Wadge.
“We need songwriters and the wider musical community to come together to bring back common sense,” Sheeran concluded. “These claims need to be stopped so that the creative process can carry on, and we can all just go back to making music.”
Scotty McCreery has enlisted Colombian singer/songwriter GUSI for a new Latin version of his song “Why She Gotta Be Like That.”
Originally titled “Why You Gotta Be Like That” on his 2021 album Same Truck, the fresh remake features Scotty singing the first half in English before GUSI arrives in the second verse and chorus with his Spanish delivery. Toward the end, the two come together to mix it up with both English and Spanish in the bridge and chorus.
“I’ve always thought it would be fun to bring the Latin part of my heritage into some of my music,” shares Scotty, who is a quarter Puerto Rican. “I met GUSI after hearing him perform ‘Why You Gotta Be Like That’ on Instagram. It is always flattering to have someone cover one of your songs, and he’s so talented so I asked him if he would want to bring some Latin flavor to the track.”
“He brought so much to it,” adds Scotty. “It was so much fun to do a new take on this song as a duet with GUSI, so we decided to call this version ‘Why She Gotta Be Like That.'”
“I am very grateful to Scotty and his team for inviting me to participate in this song,” says GUSI. “For me it gives me pride to collaborate with him, since I admire his music a lot. Additionally I have grown up listening to country music and recording this song with this great performer was more than I imagined.”
“Why She Gotta Be Like That” is out on all digital music platforms now.
Foo Fighters were booked to play Saturday Night Live‘s season finale, Variety reports.
The episode — which, according to the trade, was set to be hosted by Jennifer Coolidge — is now in doubt due the Writers Guild of America’s strike, which began earlier this week.
Due to the strike, SNL‘s episode for this weekend, featuring host Pete Davidson and musical guest Lil Uzi Vert, has been canceled. Variety reports that SNL had two more episodes lined up for this season: May 13 with host Kieran Culkin and musical guest Labrinth, and then the finale with Coolidge and the Foos.
If the finale was set to air that following Saturday, May 20, it would’ve marked Foo Fighters’ first show back since their tribute concerts to late drummer Taylor Hawkins last year and, presumably, would’ve featured the debut of the band’s new drummer, who’s yet to be announced. Currently, the first show on the Foos’ 2023 schedule is May 24 in Gilford, New Hampshire.
Foo Fighters are also frequent SNL guests, having performed on the show nine times. Their most recent appearance was in November 2020.
As for confirmed Foo Fighters news, Dave Grohl and company will headline the 2023 Wildlands Festival, taking place August 4-6 in Big Sky, Montana. The bill also includes The Breeders, Lord Huron and Taipei Houston.
Foo Fighters are headlining a number of festivals this year as part of their live comeback following Hawkins’ March 2022 death, including Boston Calling, Bonnaroo and Outside Lands.
With just days to go until Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, ABC Audio has confirmed host Drew Barrymore has pulled out in “solidarity” with the writers strike that started earlier this week.
Additionally, it has been confirmed she will be back to host next year.
In a statement from her reps shared with ABC Audio, the actress and talk show host commented, “I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike.”
She continued, “Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation. And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait, but I’ll be watching from home and hope you will join me. I thank MTV, who has truly been some of the best partners I have ever worked with.”
Barrymore concluded, “I can’t wait to be a part of this next year, when I can truly celebrate everything that MTV has created, which is a show that allows fans to choose who the awards go to and is truly inclusive.”
The show will now go host-free, Bruce Gillmer, an executive producer of the telecast, explains to the Variety. “She is not surprisingly, standing in solidarity with the writers, which we have full respect for. She has our full support.”
There are apparently no hard feelings, with Gillmer adding, “The silver lining in all of this is that we really formed a partnership [with] almost a family-like atmosphere,” and she’s “accepted” an invite to return next year.
There’s also a question about who else will bow out considering the situation: Variety reports MTV has canceled the planned red carpet before the show.
