Fans of NCIS: Hawaii were treated to a surprise stinger at the second season’s finale Monday night, when NCIS: Los Angles vet LL Cool J‘s Sam Hanna showed up.
CBS has just announced that won’t be the last you’ll see of him, either: LL, born James Todd Smith, will be a recurring guest star on the hit spinoff, just as NCIS: Los Angeles wrapped up for good on Sunday night after 14 seasons.
“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together,” enthused series lead Vanessa Lachey.
“We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process,” she added.
Lachey closed by saying, “Welcome to the ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!”
For their part, executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash and Christopher Silber commented, “All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana for season three.”
Stevie Nicks is crediting Taylor Swift with helping her mourn the death of her Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie.
During a show in Atlanta Monday night, Stevie thanked Taylor for writing the song “You’re On Your Own, Kid” off her album Midnights. She said the lyrics capture how she’s been feeling since her friend passed.
“Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing this thing for me, and that is writing a song called ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid.’ That is the sadness of how I feel,” she told the crowd, as seen in fan-captured video.
She went on to describe her friendship with Christine, saying that no matter how far apart they were or how much time had passed, they could always pick up where they left off. “It was like never a minute had passed, never an argument in our entire 47 years,” she said.
“So, when it was the two of us, the two of us were on our own, kids, we always were,” she continued. “And now, I’m having to learn to be on my own, kid, by myself. So, you help me to do that. Thank you.”
After Christine passed at age 79 last November, Stevie paid tribute to her friend using lyrics from the song “Hallelujah” by Taylor’s pals HAIM.
(NEW YORK) — Max, a new streaming service from HBO, was temporarily down on Tuesday, the morning of its debut.
Users reported an inability to access the streaming service, which carries over content from its predecessor HBO Max while offering new features. Later in the morning on Tuesday, the service appeared to be fixed.
Streaming on Max was initially not working for ABC News and the outage reports started early Tuesday morning, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.
A Max spokesperson told ABC News the company had addressed initial issues encountered by users.
“You must always anticipate issues on a tech rollout of this scale,” the spokesperson said. “We can share that only minor ones have emerged and were quickly remedied.”
The spokesperson followed up about 15 minutes later saying that Max was not down.
Compared with HBO Max, the new service offers eight times as many films and episodes in a high-resolution presentation known as 4K UHD, the company said in a statement on Monday.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band kicked off their Darkness tour at Shea’s in Buffalo, New York.
The tour, in support of Springsteen’s fourth studio album, Darkness on the Edge of Town, included a three-night stand at the Palladium in New York City. It wrapped on New Year’s Day 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The opening night set list included the live debuts of future Springsteen classics like “Badlands,” “Prove It All Night,” “Racing in the Street,” “The Promised Land,” “Candy’s Room” and “Darkness on the Edge of Town.”
The set also included favorites like “Thunder Road,” “Rosalita,” “Born To Run” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.”
Lenny Kravitz is among the artists playing Global Citizen’s upcoming Power Our Planet: Live in Paris concert, taking place in the French capital on June 22.
According to a press release, the event aims to “drive commitments from world leaders and the private sector to confront the climate crisis head on.” The lineup also includes Billie EIlish and her brother/musical collaborator FINNEAS, award-winning R&B artists H.E.R. and Jon Batiste and singer/songwriter Ben Harper.

The Witcher returns June 29, while the action comedy The Out-Laws drops on July 7, followed by the reboot Bird Box Barcelona onJuly 14. Jamie Foxx‘s They Cloned Tyrone drops on July 21, and Gal Gadot‘s techno thriller Heart of Stone debuts onAugust 11.

(WASHINGTON) — The Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday announced a body-worn camera policy for all nine law enforcement components under the DHS umbrella, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Secret Service and Federal Protective Service.
Currently, agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection have 7,000 body-worn cameras that were issued starting in 2021, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is going through a pilot program for use of the cameras.
The policy announced by DHS allows all the agencies to have a standard for all body-worn camera operations, according to a senior department official.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas signed the policy into effect on Monday and it outlines when officers should wear body-worn cameras.
“As defined by Agency policy, in all appropriate circumstances when [law enforcement officers] are conducting patrol or are otherwise engaged with the public in response to emergency calls,” the policy says. “During a pre-planned attempt to serve an arrest warrant or other pre planned arrest, including the apprehension of fugitives sought on state and local warrants; or, during the execution of a search or seizure warrant or order.”
Mayorkas said this is aimed at gaining the public’s trust.
“Our ability to secure the homeland rests on public trust, which is built through accountability, transparency, and effectiveness in our law enforcement practices,” said Mayorkas. “Today’s policy announcement is designed to advance these essential values. Requiring the use of body-worn cameras by our law enforcement officers and agents is another important step DHS is making to bring our law enforcement workforce to the forefront of innovation, and to further build public trust and confidence in the thousands of dedicated and professional law enforcement officers at DHS.”
A senior department official not authorized to speak publicly told ABC News the policy will likely not apply to Secret Service agents on the White House grounds, a key area the Secret Service covers.
“We had to come to the right balance,” the agency official said when asked about formulating a policy that would apply to all agencies under the DHS umbrella.
There are about 80,000 law enforcement officers within DHS — which is the largest within the federal government, the official said, however it is not clear that every officer or agent will have a camera.
Body-worn cameras will not be used in the case of First Amendment protected activity, “systemic, indiscriminate tracking of individuals, wide-scale monitoring, or unauthorized surveillance, recording undercover personnel, recording undercover agents or informants, and “for the purpose of recording a particular individual or group of individuals based solely on their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, gender identity or expression, or political affiliation,” the policy states.
Agencies within DHS “are directed to develop, or update, policies to address the content of this policy within 180 calendar days of this policy’s implementation. Agency policies shall include the responsibilities for LEOs to carry operate, maintain, and secure BWC equipment, including when to activate and deactivate the BWCs,” according to the policy.
“Agency policies shall identify specialized or sensitive investigative techniques or equipment that may require different treatment under the BWC policy. Implementation of DHS and Agency BWC policies are contingent on the Agency’s resource availability and the Agency’s deployment plan,” the policy says.
Kim Petras has revealed the cover art and track list for her upcoming debut album, Feed the Beast.

The Beach Boys will be performing at The Hollywood Bowl on July 2, 3 and 4, and they’ll be bringing some pals with them.
John Stamos will join the iconic group for the shows, which are part of the Hollywood Bowl’s Fireworks Spectacular. The July 4th show will also feature Sugar Ray‘s Mark McGrath. Both Stamos and McGrath played with the Beach Boys last summer at LA’s Greek Theater.
Stamos, of course, has a longstanding history with the Beach Boys: He first played with them on July 4, 1985 in Philadelphia. He also appeared in some of their videos, including the one for their #1 single “Kokomo,” and directed their video for “Hot Fun in the Summertime.”
McGrath has also appeared as a guest with the group, most recently on the Beach Boys Good Vibrations Cruise this past March.
The Weeknd’s controversial new HBO series, The Idol, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival Monday night.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show received a five-minute standing ovation and co-creator and director Sam Levinson got choked up while addressing the audience. Despite a scathing exposéby Rolling Stone criticizing the show as “torture porn,” Levinson said he was “proud of this show, proud of how we made this show.”
The Idol stars Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, a pop star in crisis. The Weeknd, in his TV acting debut, co-stars as Tedros, a cult leader who seduces Jocelyn.
Levinson praised the cast, telling the Cannes crowd, “I feel like I gained a family. I know that’s a little culty, but that’s how it feels.”
So far, reviews of the show have compared it to Levinson’s previous show, Euphoria, in terms of its racy content.
