Juliana Hatfield has announced a new album of Electric Light Orchestra covers.

The upcoming record, titled Juliana Hatfield Sings ELO, is due out November 17, and features the “My Sister” artist putting her spin on songs including “Don’t Bring Me Down” and “Strange Magic.”

“Overall, I stuck pretty close to the originals’ structures while figuring out new ways to express or reference the unique and beloved ELO string arrangements,” Hatfield says. “An orchestra would have been difficult or impossible for me to manage to record, nor did I think there was any point in trying to copy those parts as they originally were. Why not try to reimagine them within my zone of limitations?”

You can listen to the cover of “Don’t Bring Me Down” now.

Hatfield has previously released full covers albums of The Police and Olivia Newton-John. Her most recent original record is 2021’s Blood.

Pedro Pascal confirms he only voiced his character in ‘The Mandalorian”s third season

As hardcore Star Wars fans already know, it takes at least three people to make The Mandalorian‘s Din Djarin the man he is.

Of course, Pedro Pascal has been billed as the man under the shiny beskar helmet since the first season of the Disney+ show, but things were very different for season 3, he tells The Hollywood Reporter.

When Din’s bucket is on, Brendan Wayne — grandson of icon John Wayne — was underneath, providing Din with his gunslinger swagger. If there’s any fistfighting or Darksaber dueling to be done, that goes to martial artist Lateef Crowder wearing the costume.

There were scenes in seasons 1 and 2 when Din had to remove his helmet, revealing Pascal’s face — a no-no to the character’s code — but that didn’t happen in season 3, and it wasn’t because of Din’s beliefs.

It was because Pascal wasn’t there, he tells the trade.

The actor was busy filming HBO’s The Last of Us when Mando‘s third season was underway, which means he only provided Din’s gravelly voice.

Pascal says of the first two seasons, “There was an extended amount of experimentation, being in the suit for a lot of it, and frankly, my body wasn’t up for the task as far as, like, the four months of it. But I was in it. I was in it a significant amount, an elastic amount.”

He adds, “But now we’ve figured it out, which is super cool, and amazingly, it gave me the opportunity to be able to go and do something else.”

Pedro says he wouldn’t change either of the other actors’ performances as his stand-ins, who were given top billing in the show’s credits for the first time this season.

Nils Lofgren has released a new single off his upcoming solo album, Mountains, which is dropping July 21. The latest is the track “Nothin’s Easy (For Amy),” featuring guest vocals from Neil Young.

As the title suggests, Lofgren wrote the song for his wife, Amy Aiello Lofgren, who is also a co-writer on the album.

Lofgren, who plays guitar in Young’s backup band Crazy Horse, tells ABC Audio that “Nothin’s Easy (For Amy)” is “one of my better songs,” and he felt that it would be a great tune for Young’s harmonies. “I sent it to him and said, ‘Please listen, see if you would be OK with singing harmony or not,’” Lofgren says. “And he heard it, he loved it, said, ‘I’ll do it, send it.”

In addition to Young, Mountains features a variety of special guests, including Ringo Starr on the album’s first single, “Ain’t The Truth Enough,” and the late David Crosby on the song “I Remember Her Name.”

To coincide with the release, Lofgren will launch his Rockality video series, where he’ll share stories from his music career. The videos will be available for purchase starting July 21 at nilslofgren.com.

Mountains is available for preorder now.

Fetty Wap sentenced to six years in drug trafficking case

Fetty Wap has learned his fate in his drug trafficking case. The rapper, born Willie Junior Maxwell, has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Fetty was arrested in October 2021 for his involvement in a trafficking conspiracy that obtained drugs, including cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack, from the West Coast, and distributed them across Long Island and New Jersey. Prosecutors say the rapper was a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization; his lawyers previously blamed his involvement on the financial responsibilities he had during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“What makes this case unusual is Mr. Maxwell’s motivation,” his lawyers previously wrote when requesting the rapper get the minimum five-year sentence. “Personal gain was not his motivation. Rather, he was motivated by his commitment to financially support others. He now realizes that he does not have to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

“Suddenly it felt like life was going in reverse and he became ashamed when he began to struggle to keep up the lifestyle that he created for so many,” the lawyers continued. “His judgment became impaired. Desperate to keep up with his financial obligations, Mr. Maxwell became involved in the instant offense for a few months in the spring of 2020.”

They had claimed Fetty made a “terrible mistake,” noting he was “truly sorry for the loss and hurt he has caused.”

Yes released their new album, Mirror to the Sky, last week, and now they’re treating fans to a new animated video for the album’s closing track, “Circles of Time.”

The track is the third single Yes has released from the record. It follows “All Connected” and “Cut From The Stars.”

“This is a very important album for the band,” Steve Howe, Yes’ longest serving member and producer of the record, shared when it was first announced. “We kept the continuity in the approach we established on (2021’s) The Quest, but we haven’t repeated ourselves.” He added, “As Yes did in the 1970s from one album to another, we’re growing and moving forward.”

Yes fans are going to have to wait a bit before they get to see the band play any of these new songs live. They aren’t expected on the road until next year, with their 2024 U.K. tour kicking off May 23 in Manchester, England. Tour dates can be found at yesworld.com.
