Bailey Zimmerman recently released his highly anticipated debut record, Religiously. The Album. Now, he’s offering fans a glimpse of all that happened during album release week.
“I can’t thank y’all enough for continuing to show ‘Religiously. The Album.’ so much love and support [heart emoji] being able to release music to y’all is such a blessing [folded hands emoji] so I wanted to show you what it was like during the week it was released,” Bailey shared on Instagram.
The footage features Bailey performing at the 2023 ACM Awards and onstage at various shows, as well as meeting fans and rehearsing backstage.
Religiously. The Album. has earned the biggest streaming country debut of all time, along with the biggest streaming debut of the year across all genres. The title track serves as Bailey’s latest single and is currently number 25 on the country charts.

The Guess Who has dropped a new video for their latest single, “Headline,” the third track released from their upcoming album, Plein D’Amour.
“Headlines are inherently orchestrated, recurring one-liners regurgitated by our media. They are negative in nature and most of the time…. verbatim en masse,” songwriter and lead singer Derek Sharp says of the track. “Something genuine, uplifting and inspiring is the path forward. This dusty old review could use a new headline.”
“Headline” follows The Guess Who’s previous two Plein D’Amour singles “The King” and the album’s title track, which had great responses on streaming services. The album is available for preorder now.

The dark side of technology is Black Mirror‘s stock-in-trade, so it makes sense that creator Charlie Brooker is keeping up with the headline-grabbing AI technology.
He tells Empire he has “toyed around with ChatGPT quite a bit,” and even tried to get it to write an episode for the Netflix show’s forthcoming sixth season.
“The first thing I did was type ‘generate Black Mirror episode’ and it comes up with something that, at first glance, reads plausibly, but on second glance, is s***,” he tells the magazine.
“All it’s done is look up all the synopses of Black Mirror episodes, and sort of mush them together,” he adds. “Then, if you dig a bit more deeply you go, ‘Oh, there’s not actually any real original thought here.'”
However, the experience wasn’t a total loss. Brooker admits it made him take a hard look at what episodes had come before.
“I was aware that I had written lots of episodes where someone goes ‘Oh, I was inside a computer the whole time!'” he tells the magazine with a laugh.
“So I thought, ‘I’m just going to chuck out any sense of what I think a Black Mirror episode is.’ There’s no point in having an anthology show if you can’t break your own rules. Just a sort of nice, cold glass of water in the face.”
Brooker had previously told Netflix’s new blog TUDUM of the new season, “I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that…keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point?”

(ROME) — Pope Francis had intestinal surgery on Wednesday and will spend several days in the hospital recovering, Vatican officials said.
The Holy See Press Office announced Wednesday evening local time that the surgery was over and that “it took place without complications and lasted three hours.”
After his general audience at the Vatican on Wednesday, the pontiff went to Gemelli hospital in Rome and underwent “a Laparotomy and abdominal wall plastic surgery with prosthesis under general anaesthesia,” Matteo Bruni, director of the press office for The Holy See, said in a statement in Italian.
The surgery was arranged within the last few days, the Vatican said. He’s expected to stay in the hospital for several days to make a full recovery.
The 86-year-old pontiff spent three days in the hospital in March after he complained he was having difficulty breathing.
The pontiff’s March hospital stay had gone well “with normal medical progress,” as he recovered from bronchitis, Vatican officials said at the time.
Francis also had intestinal surgery two years ago for diverticular stenosis. That three-hour operation included an hemicolectomy, which is the removal of part of the colon.
Francis often uses a wheelchair or walker during public events, including when he presided over the funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, his retired predecessor, in January.

(NEW YORK) — Hazy and dangerous fumes from ongoing Canadian wildfires have engulfed the skies over most of the Northeast coast, prompting serious air quality alerts.
Thirteen states have issued those alerts as the thick fumes block the sky and send people indoors.
Canadian officials said firefighters are scrambling to put out the blazes in Quebec, where more than 160 forest fires are currently active.

Worst air quality yet may be headed to NYC
The worst air in the U.S. Wednesday morning is in upstate New York from Syracuse to Binghamton, where the air quality has reached the worst level — “hazardous.”
That air will move toward New York City and Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Tuesday brought the worst air quality to New York City since the 1960s, officials said, with New York City Mayor Eric Adams calling it an “unprecedented event.”
The mayor urged New Yorkers to avoid going outside if they can.
Adams warned Wednesday, “Air quality conditions are anticipated to temporarily improve later tonight through tomorrow morning, but they are expected to deteriorate further tomorrow afternoon and evening.”

Washington, D.C., public schools have canceled all outdoor activities, including athletic games, for Wednesday due to the poor air quality.
A “Code RED Air Quality Alert” has been issued for the nation’s capital.
New York City public schools also canceled outdoor activities.
“We urge everyone to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors,” NYC Public Schools tweeted.

Air quality alerts issued for 13 states
Most of New England and much of the East Coast were under air quality alerts on Wednesday, with smoke from Canadian wildfires expected to reach as far south as South Carolina.
A new dose of very thick smoke was expected to drift into New York City and Philadelphia by Wednesday afternoon, lasting into the evening.
That smoke is then expected to move south into Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.
Conditions around New York City and in the I-95 corridor could improve Thursday evening, but get worse in western New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, as the winds shift.

NYC mayor says air quality expected to ‘deteriorate further’ Wednesday
The air quality in New York City worsened Tuesday evening and is expected to “deteriorate further” Wednesday afternoon and evening, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement.
“At this point, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for all five boroughs. While conditions are anticipated to temporarily improve later tonight through tomorrow morning, they are expected to deteriorate further tomorrow afternoon and evening,” Adams said.
“Currently, we are taking precautions out of an abundance of caution to protect New Yorkers’ health until we are able to get a better sense of future air quality reports,” he said.
Adams said students should still go to school on Wednesday, but New York City public schools won’t have outdoor activities.
“These recommendations may change based on updated air quality conditions that come in, but, in the meantime, we recommend all New Yorkers to take the precautions they see fit to protect their health,” he added.

New York City currently has the worst air quality in the world, data shows
New York City currently has the worst air quality than any other city on Earth, as smoke stemming from wildfires in Canada makes its way across the Northeast, according to the latest data from Swiss technology company IQAir.
The air quality index in NYC is at 196 as of Tuesday evening, followed by Doha, Qatar, and Delhi, India.
The next U.S. city on the list is Detroit, which currently places eighth, according to IQAir. Toronto, Canada, sat in ninth place as of Tuesday night.

Who is at most risk from unhealthy air
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has specific guidance for vulnerable groups if the air quality in their area is deemed “unhealthy.”
While the agency warns that all people will experience adverse side effects from exposure to the unhealthy air, it said those with heart or lung disease, pregnant people, children and the elderly are most sensitive.
Those groups should consider moving all of their activities indoors until the air quality alert is lifted, the EPA said.

Northeast covered in haze as forecasters warn of more smoke to come
Millions of people in New York City and other locations in the Northeast scrambled to keep themselves free of the smoky air throughout the day and evening Tuesday.
The city’s skyline was barely visible for most parts of the day, and the smell of the smoke was strong as commuters hit the evening rush.
Large cities with the lowest air quality include New York City; Albany, New York and Cincinnati, a map by Airnow, a website that publishes air quality data, shows.
Another large and dense plume of smoke will be moving down across parts of the Northeast on Wednesday, according to forecasters.
That batch of very dense smoke will push down across the Northeast throughout the day on Wednesday, giving some relief to New England and the Midwest.
Another classic Steely Dan album is getting the reissue treatment. The latest is the band’s third album, Pretzel Logic, which will be reissued on vinyl for the first time in 35 years.
The reissue, remastered from the original analog tapes, will drop July 28 on 180-gram black vinyl, along with a premium 45 RPM version on Ultra High-Quality vinyl.
Released in February 1974, Pretzel Logic was Steely Dan’s first album to land in the Billboard Top 10, peaking at #8. It featured the hit single “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number,” which went to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their highest-charting single.
This is the third Steely Dan record to get a vinyl reissue. The reissue program, which Donald Fagen has overseen, started with their 1972 debut Can’t Buy A Thrill, reissued in November 2022, followed by 1973’s Countdown to Ecstasy, which dropped in May. The program plans to reissue four more albums — 1975’s Katy Lied, 1976’s The Royal Scam, 1977’s Aja and 1980’s Gaucho — over the next year.
Rapper Nicki Minaj is being sued by a West Hollywood jeweler who alleges that she failed to pay for borrowed jewelry and returned some pieces damaged, TMZ reports.
According to the outlet, who obtained the legal documents, the lawsuit states that Nicki’s stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, had signed a contract with the jeweler, agreeing to return the jewelry within a week and cover any damages. However, the jeweler claims that 66 pieces were not returned on time, and when they were eventually returned, some were damaged. The jeweler sent invoices for the damages, totaling $26,239.50, but allegedly received no payment.
Nicki’s attorney, Jordan Siev, disputes the allegations, telling TMZ, “We have not been presented with any evidence that any of the jewelry at issue was damaged by Nicki. This lawsuit appears to be nothing more than an ordinary insurance claim by the jeweler designed to generate publicity for itself and extract a payment to which it is not entitled. We will defend the lawsuit vigorously.”
Michael Ray has unveiled the cover art of his upcoming EP, Dive Bars & Broken Hearts.
Set to arrive on June 23, the six-song project is Michael’s first set of new music following 2021’s Higher Education EP.
“Dive Bars & Broken Hearts is me getting to the sound I’ve always heard in my head, something that’s played on a jukebox or a bandstand in a bar somewhere just outside of town,” shares Michael.
Additionally, fans will get another taste of the EP with its title track and accompanying music video dropping Friday, June 9.
Pink‘s Summer Carnival stadium tour launches Wednesday night in Bolton, England, and she took to Instagram to share some photos and video of her preparations, as well as a note acknowledging what a huge task it is to mount a tour of this size, which she calls “a fantasy feat of a lifetime.”
“63 stadiums, 3 headlining festivals and 22 more arenas for good measure across the globe,” Pink writes.
She continues, “As you know, ‘bigger better faster more’ is my motto, and as of today, I am all of that, plus stronger, wiser, more resilient and more ready. And I’ve never been more grateful.”
She then thanks her crew, adding, “We are doing the impossible. No one does this.”
Pink goes on to write, “I’ve never asked more of this body of mine- and I have to admit- there are a couple of parts of this show I’m not sure I should be doing (you’ll know what I’m talking about very soon). There are only a handful of women that have ever done this- and yes world- I AM ONE OF THEM. Thanks to y’all.”
Describing her concerts, Pink says, “We get to feel all the feelings we’ve been stuffing down. We get to close our eyes and leave it all behind. We get to scream and cry and laugh and embrace the memories we have all made together and then make some more. It is my honor to be with you and to human alongside you.”
In her post, she also reveals that Queen guitarist Brian May and his family have sent her a bottle of Champagne and a note reading, “Kill ’em, Alecia! Britain loves you and so do we.” Pink sang with Queen at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert last year.
Elton John’s Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy became the first album in history to debut at #1 on the Billboard chart. The album remained at #1 for seven weeks.
The record, Elton’s ninth studio album, included the classic “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” inspired by Elton’s near marriage to his then-girlfriend.
