Tedeschi Trucks Band recently released their sixth studio album, Future Soul, and according to guitarist Derek Trucks, their aim was to try something different this time around.

The band’s previous studio offering — a conceptual quadruple album called I Am the Moon, recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown — left a lot of room for sonic exploration. In contrast, Future Soul is a decidedly song-focused record, forgoing the extended jams for a tighter and more angst-filled collection of 11 songs.

“We felt like the curveball this time would to be like short and sweet, concise,” Trucks tells ABC Audio, “instead of doing four albums, do one.”

He says to do that, he and his wife and bandmate Susan Tedeschi brought on producer Mike Elizondo and went into the record thinking, “Let’s try to find some different sounds.”

“It felt much more, I believe, aggressive,” he says. “Especially the drum sounds and everything. And it makes you lean a little different and play a little different.”

As for the writing process, the former Allman Brothers Band guitarist says when the band gets together, ideas and sounds start floating around. But he notes, “There’s always a few songs in everyone’s back pocket.”

“It was a really fun record to make,” Trucks says. “I’ve never done a record quite like that, where it was just every song felt like it would probably be the best song on other records, which was fun.”

Tedeschi Trucks Band are currently on tour and play Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday. They are also booked to play New Orleans Jazz Fest on May 3. A complete list of tour dates can be found at TedeschiTrucks.com.

It seems Patrick Schwarzenegger is joining the Emily Henry rom-com universe.

The actor will star alongside Phoebe Dynevor in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel Beach Read, Deadline reports.

ABC Audio has reached out to 20th Century Studios for confirmation.

Beach Read follows the character January Andrews, a romance novelist who struggles with writer’s block due to her grief after the death of her father and her discovery of the secrets he kept.

January spends the summer at her father’s Michigan beach house as she prepares to sell it. While there, she reconnects with Gus Everett, a fellow author and her formal college rival. The pair spark an unexpected romance after they agree to partake in a writing challenge to get them out of their respective writing ruts.

Yulin Kuang, who co-wrote the Netflix film adaptation of Henry’s novel People We Meet on Vacation, will direct Beach Read for 20th Century Studios from her own script.

This is the latest adaptation of one of Henry’s works, following the January 2026 release of People We Meet on Vacation. Three of her other novels — Book Lovers, Funny Story and Happy Place — are also currently being adapted for the screen.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and 20th Century Studios.

KISS is giving fans an update on their planned avatar show, which was first unveiled during their final concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2023.

Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and their manager, Doc McGhee, were interviewed for Pollstar, and in the article it’s revealed that the show is expected to launch in a “bespoke theatre” in Las Vegas in 2028.

When describing the experience, Simmons notes, “Show is not the right word. When you are parachuting into a volcano, I would call it a show.” He notes, “These are semantics, but you know, I’m not anti-semantic.”

“This will be a must-see. It’s a new form of entertainment, it’s very immersive,” McGhee adds. “In today’s technology, you can do almost anything. It’s like we’re at The Jetsons.”

Simmons says the show will feature KISS’ “iconic face personas,” including The Demon and the Starchild, with Stanley noting that with regards to songs, fans should expect “all the classics through the years and some surprises.”

And Simmons may have given away some of those surprises, explaining, “You’re gonna get all that stuff, and also new songs,” adding the tunes were “written by us. We have songs done.”

“It will be a true immersive experience that really magnifies the band and the iconic nature of what we’ve built for 50 years,” Stanley says. “It’s very different from anything else that’s been out there.” He notes, “This will be virtually seeing us. My avatar looks just like me, not a cartoon or an artist rendition. The great thing about being an icon is you can stay young forever.”

We’ve got our first look at Ariana Grande in Focker In-Law, the latest installment in the Meet the Parents movie franchise.

In a teaser that dropped Tuesday ahead of the trailer, we see Robert De Niro as Jack Byrnes administering a lie detector test, but not to Ben Stiller’s Greg Focker. Greg pokes his head around the corner and we see that it’s Ariana hooked up. “The old machine,” he says.

“Yes or no — the Focker In-Law trailer comes out tomorrow?” reads the text.

“Yes,” Ariana confirms. “You clearly know your stuff,” Jack replies.

“No lies detected. The trailer for Focker-In-Law debuts tomorrow!” reads the caption.

In the new film, Ariana plays Olivia Jones, who’s set to marry Greg’s son. As Ari told Variety in December, “I play his son’s girlfriend who he’s not sure of or connecting with. He’s very against me. And the worst part — his character’s nightmare is — I get along gorgeously with Robert De Niro’s character, Jack. He loves me, and I get immediate approval from the rest of the family.”

It seems that Adria Arjona has scored a role in the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arjona was chosen for the mystery part after several rounds of screen tests. The outlet had previously reported that the character DC Studios had been casting for was the antiheroine Maxima. It’s currently unknown if that is the part Arjona will play.

ABC Audio has reached out to DC Studios for confirmation.

Man of Tomorrow will serve as a direct sequel to James Gunn’s 2025 blockbuster Superman. In a conversation with Howard Stern in September 2025, Gunn, who also serves as the co-head of DC Studios, said the new film will feature the superhero teaming up with his enemy, Lex Luthor.

“It’s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,” Gunn said. “It’s more complicated than that, but that’s a big part of it. It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.”

The director continued, saying he “loved working with Nicholas Hoult,” who portrayed Lex Luthor in his Superman film.

“I relate to the character of Lex, sadly. I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. I just love the script so much,” Gunn said.

Gunn announced Man of Tomorrow to his social media on Sept. 3, 2025. At the time, he said he planned to start shooting the film in April 2026.

Could cameras on the film be close to rolling? The director shared a new photo of David Corenswet sitting in a chair while in costume as Superman to his Instagram on Tuesday.

“Superman at rest,” he captioned the photo.

Warner Bros. Pictures will release Man of Tomorrow in theaters on July 9, 2027.
