When the Eras Tour shattered international music records, grossing more than $2 billion in ticket sales, Taylor Swift decided to increase bonuses for the hardworking crew who helped make her shows a reality. You can watch her do it in episode two of her new docuseries, The End of an Era, now streaming on Disney+.

Everyone who played a part in pulling off the Eras Tour — from truck drivers and sound technicians to production staff and choreographers — received a handwritten thank-you note and a bonus from Taylor, who says, “These people just work so hard, and they are the best at what they do.”

As seen in the docuseries and confirmed by People, Swift paid out $197 million in bonuses to her expansive team over the course of the tour.

Taylor says in the doc that she created a handwritten note for every person who worked on the tour, acknowledging that they’ve given up time with their families to join her on the road.

“Making that worthwhile for them feels like Christmas morning, when you finally get to say thank you,” she says.

In the episode, Taylor asks everyone to open their cards and read her message, which was the same for everyone. Kam Saunders, one of Taylor’s dancers, reads it out loud; it says, in part, “My full gratitude doesn’t come from a bank, but here’s (bleep) dollars just to say thanks. Love, Taylor.” The amount was bleeped out.

Mike Scherkenbach, CEO of Shomotion Trucking Company, which served as the logistics partner on the Eras Tour, says in the episode that Swift’s father, Scott Swift, “was the one that presented the checks to our drivers.”

“He presented handwritten letters from Taylor. It’s incredible,” he says.

A documentary on Grammy winner Billy Preston is coming to theaters in February.

Billy Preston: That’s The Way God Planned It was directed by Emmy winner Paris Barclay and premiered at South by Southwest. It’s set to open Feb. 20 at the Film Forum in New York City, with plans to release it in select theaters in North America sometime in 2026.

“We are more than thrilled that the soul of Billy Preston will be reborn thanks to our friends at Abramorama — and in the theater, where everyone can experience it,” said Barclay. “His story has reverberated with festival audiences, in part because we illuminate Preston’s brilliance — and also because it has so much to say about the world we live in today.”

The film will give fans insight into the six-decade career of the legendary singer and keyboardist, known for such hits as “Nothing From Nothing,” “Will It Go Round in Circles” and “Space Race.” He also co-wrote and recorded the classic “You Are So Beautiful,” which became a hit for Joe Cocker.

Preston, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, is also known for his association with other artists like The BeatlesThe Rolling Stones, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton and Aretha Franklin.

Sure, we’ve all seen Bruno Mars sing pop and R&B classics, but it turns out he’s pretty good at rock, too.

Bruno was one of the many stars who performed at a private company party Thursday at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. The lineup also included Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, and Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers

Footage on a company employee‘s Instagram Story shows Bruno singing Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Other footage on social media shows him belting out Led Zeppelin‘s “Whole Lotta Love,” The Police‘s “Roxanne,” Jimi Hendrix‘s “Fire” and Michael Jackson‘s rocking track “Dirty Diana.”

There was apparently a least one star in the audience, as well. Orlando Bloom posted footage on his Instagram Story of the whole all-star group, including Bruno singing Chuck Berry‘s “Johnny B. Goode.”

As for why all these A-list stars agreed to perform at some company party, Parade reports that the company in question, Eldridge Industries, is an investment and asset management firm that specializes in sports and entertainment.

The second episode of the three-part YouTube series looking back at Freddie Mercury’s debut solo album, Mr Bad Guy, has just been released.

Archival footage of Mercury’s 1985 interview with journalist David Wigg looks at the Queen frontman’s approach to songwriting, with Mercury noting “the actual structure of the melody comes easy to me, it’s the lyrical content I find hard.”

“I like to write nice little catchy tunes, but in terms of the lyrical content it’s difficult. So I have to work on that part of it,” he says. “I’m not a poet and I hate writing lyrics anyway. I wish somebody else could do it.”

Mentioning Elton John’s songwriting partner, he jokes, “I wish I had a Bernie Taupin, but I’m not like that. I like to do it all myself, I’m a greedy b****.”

He later says that all his songs are about “emotion and feeling.”

“I’d love to write songs about something totally different, but they all seem to end up in a very emotional and tragic way,” he says. “Maybe I’m a very tragic person. I don’t know why, but there’s an element of humor at the end. I’m a very loving person, you know.”

The video also features footage from the Dante-inspired music video for the album’s second single, “Made in Heaven.” At one point in the clip Wigg asks Mercury, who died in 1991, if he thinks he’s going to heaven.

“No, I don’t want to,” Freddie says, joking, “Hell is much better. Look at the interesting people that you’re going to meet down there.”

National Trust for Historic Preservation sues to try to stop White House ballroom construction

(WASHINGTON) — The National Trust for Historic Preservation, the privately funded nonprofit designated by Congress to protect historic sites, is suing in an attempt to stop the construction of the White House ballroom.

In a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for DC, the organization is asking for the project to be stopped until it completes the federal review process standard for federal building projects and seeks public comment on the proposed changes.

“No president is legally allowed to tear down portions of the White House without any review whatsoever—not President Trump, not President Biden, and not anyone else,” the complaint said. “And no president is legally allowed to construct a ballroom on public property without giving the public the opportunity to weigh in.”

“President Trump’s efforts to do so should be immediately halted, and work on the Ballroom Project should be paused until the Defendants complete the required reviews—reviews that should have taken place before the Defendants demolished the East Wing, and before they began construction of the Ballroom—and secure the necessary approvals,” the complaint continued.

In its complaint, the Trust argues that the project has not been filed with the National Capital Planning Commission as required by law; that it began without an environmental assessment or impact statement as required by the National Environmental Policy Act; and that the construction was not authorized by Congress.

The White House has continued to defend the construction of the ballroom.

“President Trump has full legal authority to modernize, renovate, and beautify the White House — just like all of his predecessors did,” Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, said on Friday.

The White House has previously attacked the Trust, saying it is run by “a bunch of loser Democrats and liberal donors who are playing political games.”

It has also argued that the nature of the project on the White House grounds does not require congressional approval, an assertion the Trust is challenging in its lawsuit.

News of the lawsuit was first reported by the Washington Post.

Dick Van Dyke is getting ready to turn 100 years old.

The famed and celebrated actor — whose career has included Emmys, a Grammy, a Tony and a Lifetime Achievement Honor — opened up to ABC News’ Chris Connelly about his milestone age, and his new book that’s filled with advice on how to reach it.

Connelly and Van Dyke spoke at the actor’s Malibu, California, home with his wife, Arlene Silver, in an interview that aired on Good Morning America on Friday.

“You know I played old men a lot. And I always played ’em as angry and cantankerous,” he said, adding with a laugh, “It’s not really that way.”

He continued, “I don’t know any other 100-year-old, but I can speak for myself.”

Speaking about his physical condition as he approaches the century mark on Saturday, Van Dyke said, “I’m so lucky. I don’t have any ache or pain.”

He added he goes to the gym three days a week, calling his wife “a health nut.”

“I think that saved me from the pain. That’s good advice for anybody,” Van Dyke said.

Van Dyke also spoke about his newly released book, 100 Rules for Living to 100, which hit shelves in November.

“Well, I had a few more things I wanted to say. I wanted to pass down some of my wisdom to the younger generations,” he said of the book.

Van Dyke’s career has spanned generations and genres, reaching new heights with his role in 1964’s Mary Poppins. Among the many accolades Van Dyke owns is a Tony Award for his role in Bye Bye Birdie and an Emmy for The Dick Van Dyke Show.

In his interview, Van Dyke also touched on darker moments, like publicly coming forward to discuss his struggle with alcohol. “There was a lotta response from people who were having drinking problems who said, ‘Thank you for bringin’ it out into the sunlight,'” he said.

Van Dyke says there are some challenges that come with reaching triple digits, saying, “I miss movement. I’ve got one game leg from I don’t know what. And — dance — I still try to dance.”

The actor says his wife, whom he married in 2012, has made sure he retains youth.

“She kept me young,” he said. “She gives me energy, she gives me humor, and all kinds of support.”

Silver also shared her joy in looking after her centenarian husband.

“It’s like a privilege and an honor to take care of him and make him happy,” she added.

While 100 years old may seem like an accomplishment on its own, Van Dyke says he’s not done. “The funniest thing is, it’s not enough. A hundred years is not enough. You wanna live more, which I plan to,” he said.
