It’s been nearly a year since Khalid‘s ex-boyfriend Hugo D Almonte outed his sexuality on social media, and the singer is opening up about how he felt when it happened.

“I feel like, when it happened, it was random as f***,” he said during his appearance on the Zach Sang Show“When you’re like half a decade removed from a situation from someone and it comes back the way that it did, it’s just confusing. … I was a little distraught, a little confused when it happened.”

Despite Almonte’s apparent intention to upset him, Khalid shares he’s making the situation work in his favor.

“I’m going to turn everything that’s weaponized against me and use it for my own ammunition,” he said. “I feel like there’s a group of people in this world that feel like being gay is a really bad thing. And I’m like, to say that being myself is bad would be limiting myself from having so much f****** fun.”

Khalid adds that having his privacy “weaponized against me on a global public scale” has only made him “want to be more open,” hence the lyrics about his sexuality on his new album, After the Sun Goes Down.

“I knew that I wanted it to be upbeat, and to me, upbeat music just feels like liberation and freedom,” he shared of the project, noting it was in the works before he got outed.

Asked whether he planned on coming out before the incident, Khalid answered, “I intended on being completely honest.”

He added, “It’s unfortunate that someone got to expose something so personal to me, but maybe it sped up the process.”

After the Sun Goes Down is now available on streaming services.

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is movin’ out its Billy Joel exhibit, which has been drawing crowds to the museum in Stony Brook, New York, for the past two years. But unlike most museum exhibits, fans will be able to take home some of the more than 100 items of memorabilia.

The exhibit is closing Oct. 25, and on that day, the museum will host The Billy Joel Collectors Presentation, featuring Paul Fierro and Eric Fellen, two local collectors who loaned many of their own Billy Joel items to the exhibit. They’ll talk about how they obtained the memorabilia, as well as “the art of collecting all things Billy.”

But most exciting for fans is that some of Fierro and Fellen’s collection from the exhibit will be up for grabs in a silent auction designed to raise money for the museum. They include promo items from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s; backstage passes; an original pressing of The Hour of the Wolf, the second album Billy recorded with his old band The Hassles; a poster from Billy’s 100th show at Madison Square Garden; a Billy Joel New York Yankees bobblehead; and many other items.

And if you don’t want to pony up cash for the auction, there will also be door prizes, including promotional items from 1987, 1990 and 2006, giveaways from Billy’s 70th concert at the Garden and more. Admission to the event is free.

Many of the items will, of course, be returned to Billy himself, and others who loaned them.

Coheed and Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez reflects on 10th anniversary of ‘The Color Before the Sun’

They say parenthood changes you in more ways than you can expect. For Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez, those changes included doing something he’d never done before as a professional musician and hasn’t done again since.

Following the birth of his son, Sanchez decided the next Coheed record would be their first non-concept album and would exist outside of the band’s long-running sci-fi storyline, the Amory Wars. That album, The Color Before the Sun, was released Oct. 16, 2015 — 10 years ago Thursday.

“That was an important record because of the experiences of that time in my life, you know, my son was being born,” Sanchez tells ABC Audio. “I mean, ‘the colors before the sun’ just means the feelings before birth.”

Throughout Coheed’s discography, Sanchez would insert details about his personal life into the lyrics, so in that sense the birth of his son “could’ve easily been in the concept to some degree,” Sanchez says. Still, he wanted to tell this story straight without shrouding it amid an ongoing sci-fi epic.

“I also in a weird way wanted my son to think later in life, like, ‘Oh wow, this moment in their discography is this way because my dad wanted to share with me how important that experience was to his life,'” Sanchez says.

The Color Before the Sun remains the only Coheed album not a part of the Amory Wars concept — the band has since released three more records that continue the storyline. While it may seem like an outlier on the surface, Sanchez feels it still fits within the larger themes of Coheed’s music.

“It doesn’t feel foreign in terms of the overall architecture of what we do,” Sanchez says. “It’s totally at home.”

Jennifer Aniston is opening up about her decision to not become a Saturday Night Live cast member.

The actress spoke about the career decision during a recent appearance on Dax Shepard‘s podcast Armchair Expert. Aniston said she declined an offer Lorne Michaels gave her to join the cast of the late-night comedy sketch series in the early 1990s due to her ego.

“I always thought I was such hot s***,” Aniston said. “The story of that is all very confusing.”

Aniston said she took a meeting with Michaels during the time her friend Adam Sandler was on the show. The actress said she had reservations about how she would be treated if she joined the cast.

“I don’t know why I had this self-righteous attitude of ‘I don’t know if women are treated the way they should be treated on this show,'” Aniston said.

She said she believed at the time that SNL was “a very male-dominated” show.

“I would love to be here if it was in the Gilda Radner day,” Aniston said she told Michaels at the time. “I mean, this is the brain that semi-remembers things that are back that far. I can’t remember, but I remember Friends then happened. And that’s where I went.”

Aniston has hosted SNL twice — once in November 1999 and again in January 2004. She won an Emmy in 2002 for her role as Rachel Green in Friends.

US conducts another lethal strike on alleged drug boat off Venezuela, Trump says

(WASHINGTON) — President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he ordered another deadly military strike on a boat off the coast of Venezuela in what appears to be the fifth such strike in the Caribbean Sea, killing six people.

Both Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth released video of the attack, which showed what appeared to be a speed boat hit by a sudden explosion. Trump said the vessel was affiliated with an unnamed “designated terrorist organization conducting narcotrafficking.”

Trump said, “Intelligence confirmed the vessel was trafficking narcotics” and “was associated with illicit narcoterrorist networks …” was in “International Waters” and that “six male narcoterrorists aboard the vessel were killed in the strike.”

Since Sept. 2, Trump has ordered military strikes on at least five boats in the Caribbean Sea that the administration insists were carrying drugs to the U.S. According to the government’s account, the military has killed 27 people.

The use of lethal of military force against drug boats is unprecedented, with past administrations relying on law enforcement to interdict drug shipments. While posting videos on social media of the strikes, Hegseth and Trump have not provided details on who was killed, their nationalities, what kinds of drugs they were carrying, or exactly where they were headed.

Instead, Trump has told lawmakers that he sees drug traffickers as “terrorists” and “unlawful combatants” and that the U.S. is in “armed conflict” with the cartels.

Trump has ordered the Pentagon to create a new military task force “to crush the cartels” carrying drugs to the U.S., an indication that the administration is planning to expand military operations in Latin America even as lawmakers and independent experts have questioned the legality of using military force against criminal organizations.

Last week, in a post on X, Hegseth said U.S. Southern Command will lead the “counter-narcotics Joint Task Force.”

“At the President’s direction, the Department of War is establishing a new counter-narcotics Joint Task Force in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility to crush the cartels, stop the poison, and keep America safe,” Hegseth wrote. “The message is clear: if you traffic drugs toward our shores, we will stop you cold.”

SOUTHCOM referred all questions on the strike to the White House, which declined to say who exactly was in the boat and where exactly the boat was located.
