David Gilmour releases classic ‘On an Island’ performance to mark 80th birthday, album anniversary

An archival performance from Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour has been released to mark two special occasions.

The performance is of the Gilmour solo track “On an Island,” recorded in April 2006 in New York as part of an AOL Session. It features Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright on keyboards.

The upgraded video was released to coincide with Gilmour’s 80th birthday on Friday, as well as the 20th anniversary of his third solo album, On an Island. An Instagram post announcing the video noted that more performances from the 2006 AOL Session will be released “over the next few days.”

Released on March 6, 2006, On an Island was the rocker’s first solo album in 22 years, and the follow-up to 1984’s About Face. It peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200.

In between About Face and On an Island, Pink Floyd released their 14th studio album, The Division Bell, in 1994, marking their second without Roger Waters.

Lamorne Morris to voice ‘Garfield’ in new animated Paramount+ series

Lasagna for dinner to celebrate?

A brand-new Garfield series, based on the original comic strip by Jim Davis, is coming to Paramount+.

The streaming service announced that the new show about the lasagna-loving orange cat will be created using 2D animation. It currently has the working title of Garfield.

Lamorne Morris will provide the voice of Garfield in this new series, which Paramount+ says will feature “the chonky feline at his finest, with each episode featuring the pop culture icon’s signature sarcasm and hilarious lackadaisy.”

Nickelodeon Animation Studios will produce the show, while Dave H. Johnson and John Trabbic III will serve as its executive producers.

According to Paramount+, Garfield has over 200 million daily comic readers and millions of social media followers. The brand has spanned over multiple generations since the comic’s debut in June 1978.

Gabby Barry won’t come in out of the rain in her new video for “The Easy Part.”

In the clip for the breakup song, which she co-wrote with HARDY and others, Gabby stands in the street singing about the end of a relationship while we see a couple break up, then flash back to their happier times. As the video reaches its emotional climax, it starts raining, and Gabby continues to sing while getting drenched. At the end of the video, the female half of the couple goes for a drive and passes by her ex, who’s in his truck with another woman. She smiles to herself, while he looks upset.

Gabby says in a statement, “‘The Easy Part’ plays with the idea that sometimes the dramatic moment in a relationship feels like the hardest part, but often it’s what comes after that really stays with you.”

“The song reflects on those memories; the good and the complicated, and realizing what they meant over time. In the video, you see those moments play out as she looks back on the relationship and ultimately chooses peace and keeps moving forward.”

Gabby celebrated her 26th birthday on Thursday. This summer she’ll be opening for Parker McCollum on his tour.

New Music Friday: JLo, Bebe Rexha, Paul Russell and more

Harry Styles isn’t the only one out with new music this week. Here are some of Friday’s other new releases:

Jennifer Lopez and David Guetta have teamed up for the dance-pop song “Save Me Tonight.” JLo is set to debut the song live during The JLo Show Las Vegas residency Friday night. The performance will be simulcast across her TikTok Live, Instagram Live and YouTube Live.

“Lil Boo Thang” singer Paul Russell has released his seven-song EP, Miracle Mile. It’s a love letter to Paul’s Los Angeles community, inspired by a period of time last year that he spent with family. “For me, being home felt like it really was a miracle, so I wanted to put together a project that reminds people of all the things there are to appreciate about the miracle of their own communities,” he says in a statement. Paul also released the video for one of the EP’s tracks, “400 Cities.”

Bebe Rexha has released the song “New Religion,” along with its accompanying music video. The song, which Bebe says is “about letting go and getting lost in the music,” is the focus track off her upcoming album, DIRTY BLONDE.

Stephen Sanchez has released the title track off his upcoming sophomore album, Love, Love, Love. The “Until I Found You” singer says the record “is inspired by the love I’ve been lucky enough to receive, the love I sometimes struggle to give to others, and my desire to see people come together.” The new album will be out May 8.

BLACKPINK’s JENNIE is celebrating the one-year anniversary of her debut solo album, Ruby, by releasing an expanded edition. Ruby (The Complete Collection) features two “like JENNIE” remixes and four JENNIE Only Audio tracks that were previously only available on physical versions of the album.

Alien Ant Farm has premiered a new song called “Reasons.”

The track was co-written by Three Days Grace drummer Neil Sanderson and former Sublime with Rome frontman Rome Ramirez.

“YA EVER HAD TO TALK YOUR WAY OUTTA THE DOGHOUSE WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER?” AAF writes in an all-caps Instagram post. “WELL WE MADE A SONG ABOUT IT!”

Gorillaz ascends UK Official Albums Chart with ’The Mountain’

Gorillaz has climbed to the top of the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with their new record, The Mountain.

Damon Albarn’s virtual band now has a total of three #1 albums across the pond, with The Mountain joining 2005’s Demon Days and 2023’s Cracker Island.

“Mortal friends, Murdoc F. Niccals here, speaking to you from on high, the top of the world, the summit of achievement!” reads a quote from Gorillaz’s cartoon bassist. “I’ve only gone and done it again, haven’t I? Number 1! Could have gone further… was hoping for a 0, but 1 will do.”

Murdoc continues, “To all my devoted er… devotees, you have shown impeccable taste as ever. It takes a lot to make a Mountain, so all I can say is… I couldn’t have done it without me. Cheers!”

You can catch Gorillaz make their debut on Saturday Night Live on March 7. They’ll launch a U.S. tour in September.

Hear a new cover of Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ for 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026

A new cover of Van Halen’s “Jump,” put together by Coca-Cola as the anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has just been released.

The cover features blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, Colombian reggaeton artist J Balvin and singer-songwriter Amber Mark.

Coca-Cola previously teased the cover in an ad that premiered in January. The full song is accompanied by a video in which animated versions of Barker, Vai, Balvin and Mark “bring together fans around the world through soccer and music, culminating in an epic space stadium celebration of joy and celebration,” according to the video’s caption.

“Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ is one of those rare songs that transcends generations, so approaching it came with a lot of respect,” Mark says in a statement. “Being able to honor the original while bringing a modern perspective was incredibly special. Lana Condor’s Lara Jean Song Covey will appear in ‘XO, Kitty’ season 3

Lara Jean Song Covey, as portrayed by Lana Condor, will appear in season 3 of Netflix’s XO, Kitty.

Jenny Han announced the news on Instagram Friday. The video she posted finds Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) walking down a path before looking ahead of himself and saying, “Covey?”

The camera then flips to find both Condor and the show’s star, Anna Cathcart, sitting in director’s chairs. “Yes?” Condor says in response.

“’I don’t have to be so afraid of good-bye, because good-bye doesn’t have to be forever.’ Our Lara Jean is back!!” Han’s video is captioned.

XO, Kitty is a spinoff series inspired by the popular To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before film trilogy, which itself is based on Han’s bestselling books. Season 3 will consist of eight 30-minute episodes. Valentina Garza serves as the showrunner, executive producer and writer, while Han executive produces.

Season 3 of XO, Kitty finds Kitty Song Covey (Cathcart) returning “for her final year at KISS with her perfect senior year mapped out. She’s going to make meaningful memories with her friends, grow closer to her relatives in Korea, and make big decisions about her future.”

“And she’s going to define her relationship with Min Ho. For real this time,” the synopsis continues. “But when surprise revelations throw her plans, and relationships, off course, Kitty will have to learn to embrace the unexpected.”

XO, Kitty season 3 arrives to Netflix on April 2.

New Music Friday: Ty Dolla $ign, Mike WiLL Made-It and more

Juice WRLD and Marshmello’s “We Don’t Get Along” has arrived with a new music video. The song’s about pushing through the pain, while the claymation video captures Juice’s transformation into a head in the clouds that occasionally crosses paths with Marshmello. It marks the duo’s latest collaboration following 2020’s “Come & Go” and 2022’s “Bye Bye.”

Ayra Starr’s first 2026 release is here. “Where Do We Go” explores the dynamics of a hidden relationship, and the expectations and boundaries attached to it.

Mike WiLL Made-It is giving fans another preview of his upcoming album, R3SET, which is set to drop on March 20. “STANDING O” features Travis Porter and Monaleo and comes with a new music video directed by Hidji World.

Ty Dolla $ign is out with girl music vol. 1, an EP he says on Instagram “started as a conversation at dinner in NYC” about the music that women would really like to listen to. “This project was a beyond natural return back to my musical sound. back to performing with a live band: my real R&B vibes. This really some of my favorite music I’ve made in a long time,” he adds.

Carrie Underwood reveals the one thing she’d change about her ‘American Idol’ experience

Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest stars to emerge from American Idol, but even though her time on the show obviously worked out the best it possibly could have for her, she still has one regret.

Asked by Billboard what she would change if she could go back in time and change one thing about her time on the show, for which she now serves as a judge, Carrie says, “I’m very angry with myself because when I was on the show, I wasn’t taking any pictures. I’m thinking, ‘Why? Why didn’t you do that? Why didn’t you save these things?’”

Carrie goes on to say, “We had a girl come in that had a pair of jeans that I wore on the show, and she told me, ‘My grandpa bought these at a charity auction.’ … [A]nd I asked, ‘Can I buy them back from you?'”

“Why did I let them go?” she wonders. “Why didn’t I keep more things and just document things a little better?”

As for fellow judge Luke Bryan, he says the one thing he’d change is that he “would have cherished more moments with Willie Spence.” Willie, the season 19 runner-up, died in a car crash in October 2022. He was 23.

“That’s a biggie to me – losing him and knowing how much he touched me in that room, in that space, watching him perform week in and week out. It was truly breathtaking,” Luke says.

“He was from Douglas, Georgia, which is an hour from my hometown. That loss really affected me. From time to time, I’ll see a clip of him singing and it just breaks my heart for him and his family, and I just can only imagine what his career might have been.”
