(TORONTO) — Investigators are looking for two suspects and clues after shots were fired at the U.S. consulate in Toronto on Tuesday morning.

There were people inside the building at the time, but no one was injured, Toronto Police Service Deputy Chief Frank Barredo said. Officers got a call about the shooting around 5:29 a.m., and found shell casings and damage to the building when they arrived, he noted.

Witnesses observed two people emerging from a white Honda CR-V and discharge a handgun at the consulate before driving away, according to Barredo.

“This is very early in the investigation. It is very active, and we are aggressively assigning investigative resources to determine what happened and to bring the offenders to justice,” he told reporters.

Chris Leather, the chief superintendent for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Ontario Criminal Operations, told reporters that it is “being treated as a national security incident,” and prompted increased security around embassies in Toronto and Ottawa.

“There will be no tolerance for any form of intimidation, harassment, or harmful targeting of any communities or individuals in Canada. We want to ensure that everyone’s safety and security remain at the forefront of everything we do,” he said.

Leather noted that it was too early to determine if the shooting was linked to the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

The RCMP is in communication with the FBI and other U.S. agencies, Leather said.

He noted that recent incidents in Toronto and elsewhere have prompted a need for heightened vigilance and security around diplomatic missions, expressing hope that these measures will help “bring the temperature down in the coming days and weeks.”

Beyoncé and Taylor are known to be pals, and now they’ve got something new in common: They’re both billionaires.

Forbes is out with its annual World’s Celebrity Billionaires list, which features people who became famous first, then became billionaires. Bey is a new entry on the list at #21, with a net worth listed as $1 billion. According to Forbes, her wealth comes from her three-decade music career. She is married to another billionaire, Jay-Z, whose net worth Forbes lists as $2.8 billion.

As for Taylor, she ranks #7 on the list, one step behind Jay-Z, with a listed net worth of $2 billion. As per Forbes, her net worth comes from the value of her music catalog, estimated to be worth $900 million, plus $100 million worth of real estate and earnings from her Eras Tour.

Other musicians on the list include Bruce Springsteen, worth $1.2 billion; Rihanna, worth $1 billion thanks to her Fenty Beauty empire; and another new billionaire, Dr. Dre, who’s worth $1 billion after he and other investors sold the companies he co-founded, Beats Electronics and streaming service Beats Music, to Apple for billions of dollars in 2014.

Dr. Dre and Beyoncé are among the newest billionaires in town. Both artists are listed on Forbes‘ World’s Billionaires list, their first time on the tally.

They’re both worth an estimated $1 billion, thanks to Dre’s decision to sell Beats by Dre to Apple and Bey’s music sales, touring and art collecting.

Also on the 2026 list are Bey’s husband, Jay-Z, and Tyler Perry. Jay became hip-hop’s first billionaire in 2019; he has an estimated net worth of $2.8 billion. Perry, according to the list, is worth an estimated $1.4 billion.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $1,000,000 for information leading to the arrest of Omar Alexander Cardenas. (FBI)

(WASHINGTON) — The FBI is now offering $1 million for information leading to the arrest of one of its “Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives.”

Omar Alexander Cardenas is wanted by local and federal authorities for a 2019 murder in Los Angeles.

Cardenas is accused of firing several rounds at the victim, Jabali Dumas, at a barber shop on Aug. 15, 2019, according to the FBI. Dumas was struck in the head and died, authorities said.

Cardenas has “known gang affiliations,” and the shooting is believed to have been gang-related, according to Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell.

A local arrest warrant was issued for Cardenas in April 2020 after he was charged with murder, the FBI said. He is believed to have possibly fled to Mexico and has also been federally charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, according to the FBI.

The FBI initially offered a $100,000 reward for information on Cardenas’ whereabouts when he was added to its “Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list in 2022. The reward, which subsequently increased to $250,000, has now surged to $1 million, the FBI announced on Tuesday.

McDonnell called the new reward a “critical step forward” in the case.

“We believe that someone knows Omar Cardenas’ whereabouts, and we’re urging anyone with information to please come forward,” the chief said during a press briefing on Tuesday. “Our mission is clear — to locate and apprehend Cardenas and bring justice for the Dumas family.”

Akil Davis, the assistant director in charge of the FBI Los Angeles field office, said the U.S.’ relationship with the government of Mexico “has never been stronger,” pointing to the recent apprehension in Mexico of another “Most Wanted” fugitive — former Olympic snowboarder turned alleged drug kingpin Ryan Wedding.

Davis shared a message directed at Cardenas.

“Mexico is not safe for you. Mr. Cardenas, if that’s where you’re hiding,” Davis said during the briefing. “I have full faith in this task force that they will bring you to justice.”

Team Whark It is back together, but this time on the Broadway stage.

Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Mark Ballas is making his return to Broadway by joining his partner from season 34, Whitney Leavitt, in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago.

Ballas will take on the role of Billy Flynn in a four-week limited engagement that runs from April 6 to May 3. Leavitt will extend her time in the production once again and continue to play Roxie Hart throughout Ballas’ run in the show. The pair danced an Argentine tango to “Cell Block Tango,” one of the most popular songs in Chicago, during season 34 of Dancing with the Stars.

“This is a full-circle moment for me. One of the first shows I auditioned for after graduating musical theatre college was for the ensemble of Chicago in the West End in London,” Ballas wrote on Instagram. “I was 19 years old, new to the industry, learning how to pay my dues, accept rejection, and be told no. Twenty years later, I’m making my return to Broadway as Billy Flynn.”

Ballas previously made his Broadway debut in a production of Jersey Boys in 2016, staying with the show until it closed in January 2017. He then went on to star in Kinky Boots on Broadway in 2018.

“Hard work, persistence, dedication to the craft, and relentlessness really do pay off. Thank you to my musical theatre teachers for instilling this in me, and for the years of tough love,” Ballas wrote.

Leavitt also took to Instagram to share her excitement over Ballas’ casting.

“This secret was way too hard to keep! The incredible @markballas & I will be performing TOGETHER in @chicagomusical,” Leavitt wrote. “Can’t wait to perform on stage together again.”

Kenny Chesney will be given the first-ever Ocean Legacy Award April 12 when he closes out the Tortuga Music Festival.

This will be Kenny’s sixth time headlining the Fort Lauderdale gathering, which was founded to help raise awareness about ocean conservation and coastal environmental issues.

“To me, when people can come together to learn about the ocean, how to treat it and have a great time with their friends, that’s a total win,” Kenny says. “Even though we’re not touring this year, I do love playing on that beach, seeing all those boats in the water and fans having the best time on that beach.”

“To be given an award for doing what I love somewhere that brings every bit of it together almost feels wrong, but I’m honored if I could be part of bringing how we treat the ocean into focus,” he adds.

Tortuga will be Kenny’s only 2026 concert outside of his June 19-July 11 residency at Sphere Las Vegas.

He headlined the first Tortuga Music Festival in 2013. Since then, the shows on South Lauderdale Beach have raised more than $6 million for ocean conservation.

Bruce Springsteen has recorded a cover of The Pogues’ classic “A Rainy Night in Soho,” according to an announcement posted to the Instagram account of late Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan.

“Our very good friend Bruce has recorded a beautiful version of ‘A Rainy Night in Soho,'” reads the post. “It’s a stunning tribute to Shane’s songwriting and it’s out on Thursday!”

The song is available for preorder now.

This isn’t the first time The Boss has performed “A Rainy Night in Soho.” Springsteen and The E Street Band performed the song in celebration of MacGowan at their May 2024 concert in Kilkenny, Ireland.

Following MacGowan’s death in November 2023 at age 65, Springsteen paid tribute to the Irish singer on Instagram, noting he was heartbroken by the news.

“Shane was one of my all-time favorite writers,” he wrote. “The passion and deep intensity of his music and lyrics is unmatched by all but the very best in the rock and roll canon.”

He added, “His music is timeless and eternal. I don’t know about the rest of us, but they’ll be singing Shane’s songs 100 years from now.”
