Peacock just launched its thriller series Day of the Jackal on Nov. 14, but reviews and viewership have been strong enough for the streamer to renew the series, ABC Audio has confirmed.

The modern retelling of the bestselling book and classic film of the same name stars Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as the titular assassin known as the Jackal.

Peacock announced that the co-production with Sky TV ranked #1 on the streaming service’s Top 10 TV Shows chart, and its opening weekend was a top five original series debut for Peacock, according to preliminary Nielsen data.

Also starring in the series is Lashana Lynch, from Captain Marvel and the James Bond hit No Time to Die, who plays a British spy sent to hunt the killer down.

Their “thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe” leaves destruction in its wake, the streamer teases.

Aerosmith will no longer be part of a popular attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Orlando.

It was announced on the Disney Park blog that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith is being taken over by The Muppets, marking the first time The Muppets will be the focus of a Disney ride.

The change in the ride comes as Disney replaces Muppet Vision 3D with Monsters Inc. land.

“To make way for the monsters, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and more of their friends will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard!” read the announcement. “But there’s more to the story: The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!”

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith is an indoor ride that launched at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (then named Disney-MGM Studios) in July 1999. The ride features video of the band members, including Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as music from the band, including songs like “Walk This Way,” “Love in an Elevator” and “Sweet Emotion.”

Exactly when The Muppets will take over for Aerosmith has not been announced.

“I hope it feels nostalgic & magical to you. I hope you know how much I appreciate every single
GAG CITY RESIDENT- all across the universe,” Nicki continued. “God bless you for your love & support that have seen me through it all.”

She then thanked the featured artists, producers, contributors, DJs, radio stations, streaming services, vinyl partners and more for their help in both the old and original album, writing, “What a blessing that track list looks like. I am still so grateful to each person on it for showing up for me & helping me to be so successful with the project.”

Russia to continue testing, start mass producing new ‘Oreshnik’ missile: Putin

(MOSCOW) — Russia will continue testing and start mass producing the new “Oreshnik” missile, an intermediate-range ballistic missile that was used to target Dnipro, Ukraine, this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

“We will continue testing the latest system,” Putin said at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and representatives of the military-industrial complex. “It is necessary to establish mass production. We will assume that the decision on the serial production of this system has been made. As a matter of fact, it is practically organized.”

Putin said Russia will continue testing the new Oreshnik missile system, “including in combat conditions.”

“The tests were successful, I congratulate you on this. As already mentioned, we will continue these tests, including in combat conditions, depending on the situation and the nature of the security threats that are being created for Russia,” Putin said.

“In addition to the Oreshnik system, several systems of this kind are currently in operation in Russia for further testing,” Putin added.

Russia warned the U.S. 30 minutes before the launch of its Oreshnik missile against targets in Dnipro on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian news outlet TASS.

The Ukrainian air force said it had tracked the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, along with six additional missiles, all targeting the Dnipro region. The U.S. would later specify the missile was not an ICBM, but instead a shorter-range IRBM.

The missiles were launched in about two hours, beginning at about 5 a.m. local time Thursday, and targeted businesses and critical infrastructure, but only the IRBM struck the city, Ukraine said. The six other missiles were shot down. There were no reports of casualties or significant damage, officials said.

The IRBM appeared to have been launched from the Astrakhan region, in Russia’s southwest, Ukrainian military officials said. The distance from what Ukraine said was the launch point to the strike location in Dnipro is about 600 miles, a distance shorter than what an ICBM would be expected to travel.

The experimental Oreshnik missile was based on a Russian RS-26 Rubezh missile, deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh confirmed Thursday during a briefing, without going into any other specific details. She also confirmed that the U.S. was notified “briefly” before the launch.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Oreshnik missile launch Thursday during his evening address, saying a “new ballistic missile was used” and calling it “a clear and severe escalation in the scale and brutality of this war.”

Putin, in remarks Thursday following the missile launch, said Russia has the right to use its weapons against the military facilities of countries employing their weapons against Russia.

The missile launch arrived amid concerns that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could further escalate.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday that Ukraine for the first time launched U.S.-made ATACMS missiles toward targets within Russia. An ammunition depot in the Bryansk region of Russia was struck, a U.S. official said.

The incident occurred days after U.S. President Joe Biden approved Ukraine’s use of the long-range American-made MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System — colloquially known as the ATACMS — to hit targets in Russia’s western Kursk region.

Zelenskyy would not confirm if Ukraine had used ATACMS to conduct a strike on an ammunition depot in the Bryansk region of Russia, but said Ukraine has ATACMS and “will use all of these” against Russia.

Hours after Russia said it had struck down several of the ATACMS, the Kremlin announced that Putin had updated the country’s nuclear doctrine, a move that lowered the bar for Russia to respond with nuclear weapons. Russian ICBMs are capable of carrying nuclear warheads, but the IRBM fired on Thursday was not equipped with one.

The Karate Kid star Ralph Macchio was supported by his family at his recent Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.

The actor received the honor on Wednesday and gave shout-outs to his wife, Phyllis, and their children, Julia and Daniel, during his heartfelt speech.

“My beautiful wife, my best friend, Phyllis, who simultaneously grounds and elevates me, I love you so much,” Macchio said. “Our partnership in life is everything. None of this is happening without you. Thank you for choosing me … life is all the richer to walk in lockstep with you. I am not here without you.”

He called his children “my two heroes,” adding, “I’m so proud of you guys. You make me way better than I am.”

Macchio’s star was placed adjacent to the one honoring his late Karate Kid co-star Pat Morita, who played Mr. Miyagi, the mentor to Macchio’s character Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 film and its two sequels. Morita also returned for the fourth film, starring Hilary Swank.

Morita died in 2005 at age 73.

“To have this star placed right next to my acting partner from that film, the great Pat Morita, is so meaningful to me, so powerful to me,” Macchio said Wednesday. “Our partnership is something I always described as a soulful magic.”

She can buy herself flowers to celebrate 6 billion streams.

Miley Cyrus celebrated her six songs that have passed 1 billion Spotify streams in the music platform’s latest episode of Billions Club: The Series.

The episode, which was released Friday, finds Miley in conversation with her sister Brandi Cyrus, in which they talk about her songs “Party in the U.S.A,” “We Can’t Stop,” “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” “Angels Like You,” “Wrecking Ball” and “Flowers.”

“Wrecking Ball” was Miley’s first #1 single, and she described the simple inspiration behind the song.

“My man wasn’t acting right,” Miley said, before sharing how she knew the song had caught on.

“I never know something is very successful until I feel it out in the real world and a part of culture. It was really when the video was being spoofed so much that I knew. It was pretty much when Jimmy Kimmel got naked on a wrecking ball, I knew.”

Miley also talked about her 2009 smash hit “Party in the U.S.A,” which she lovingly referred to as grocery store music.

“‘Party in the U.S.A.’ plays a lot when I’m out in public. It’s kind of like the ultimate grocery aisle music. I don’t know if I’ve ever gone to a grocery store and not heard it come on. And sometimes I think it’s queued for my entrance,” Miley said.

Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn, have dropped their second duet, “Body Talk.”

The love song finds Kane and Katelyn professing their yearning for each other over a pop-leaning production.

“Is your body looking for somebody?/ ‘Cause I’m looking for somebody like you/ Yeah, there’s no doubt, we don’t need to talk about it/ ‘Cause we can let our bodies talk/ We can let our bodies talk it through,” they sing in the chorus.

Its steamy music video brings the storyline to life with Kane and Katelyn finding each other at a crowded party before letting their “body talk” in the bedroom.

Kane and Katelyn’s first duet, “Thank God,” arrived in 2022 and was a multigenre hit.

“Body Talk” is the second preview of Kane’s forthcoming new album, The High Road. Its lead single, “Backseat Driver,” is currently making its way up the country charts.

Piano once owned by Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks up for auction

Disney/Randy Holmes

A piano once owned by Stevie Nicks is on the auction block.

Gotta Have Rock and Roll is handling the sale of the Hamilton grand piano, which was used to write such Fleetwood Mac tunes as “Sara” and “Songbird.”

Described as “debatably the most important piano ever offered for public auction,” the piano was one of two  Stevie had in her home in the ’70s. In 1979 it went on tour with the band and was played onstage by Christine McVie until around 1982 or 1983; Christine also wrote “Songbird” on it.

The piano was eventually returned to Stevie’s home. Musician Robbie Patton, a friend of Stevie’s who worked with her during that time, was eventually gifted the piano by Stevie as payment for a song they wrote together.

He went on to use it in the studio with several other big-name musicians, including Elton John and Queen, with Patton noting both Elton and Freddie Mercury actually played it.

“The people who have touched this piano are crazy!” he says.

Bidding on the piano is open until Dec. 16, and it is expected to sell for between $100,000 and $200,000. The piano also comes with letters of authenticity by Nicks and McVie.
