Mgk’s experience getting a blackout tattoo was not an easy one.
Speaking with BillboardCanada, the “bloody valentine” artist opens up about the health issues he faced while getting his entire upper body inked in black, which he first debuted in 2024.
“After the first week, we hit my lymph nodes around my armpits and shoulders, and I got really sick,” mgk says. “My skin was turning yellow. I wasn’t able to sleep. I stopped being able to move certain parts of my upper body.”
The complications stemmed from mgk’s desire to get the ink done in a much shorter time frame than the two years tattoo artist ROXX, who created the piece, said it would take.
“She warned me that it was going to be near impossible, even from a pain tolerance standpoint,” mgk says. “I said, ‘yeah, we got two months.'”
In persevering through the end of the piece, mgk says he “came out the other side extremely inspired.”
“Not just because of what I had done, but because of what I had to overcome,” he says.
Mgk is currently touring North America in support of his latest album, 2025’s lost americana. He’s since put out a new song called “FIX UR FACE” with Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst and an EP titled blog era boyz with Wiz Khalifa.

Additionally, there will be free outdoor screenings of the sing-along versions of the Oscar-winning film across the U.S. starting June 19 in Salt Lake City. That will be followed by free screenings in Atlanta, San Francisco, San Diego and Brooklyn on June 20; Butte, Montana, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 24; and Cleveland, Ohio, on June 25. KPop Demon Hunters became the most-watched original title in Netflix history. Its soundtrack dominated the Billboard charts, including the #1 hit “Golden,” the first K-pop song in history to win a Grammy Award and the first to win an Academy Award. (CHICAGO) — Chicago police are investigating a disturbing incident in a downtown park where a large cross was set on fire in the middle of the day on Tuesday.
Videos and images of the burning cross in Grant Park, which police say was discovered around 2:30 p.m., went viral, shocking onlookers. The burning cross has historically been a symbol of hate that white supremacists have used to harass and intimidate Black Americans.
Alyna Carlton, 22, who filmed the burning cross while she was in a car with her mother, told WLS Chicago on Tuesday that she could not believe her eyes.
“Seeing that in Chicago, in 2026 … yeah, we were really taken aback,” she said.
The Chicago Fire Department quickly responded and put out the fire, according to investigators. There were no injuries or serious property damage.
The Chicago Police Department said in a statement that it is investigating the incident, but as of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made.

(TOLEDO, Ohio) — A manhunt is underway after investigators have identified one of the two suspects believed to have opened fire at an Ohio festival last weekend. Investigators are now asking the public for help identifying a second suspect, as both remain at large.
Twelve people were shot at the Old West End Festival last Saturday, with all of them expected to survive, officials said Tuesday.
One of the shooters has been identified as 20-year-old Ka Nye Taylor. He is described as a 5-foot-11-inch black male with black hair and brown eyes, according to the Toledo Police Department.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Ka Nye Taylor, who is wanted on 11 counts of felony assault in connection with the shooting at the festival, police said.
Investigators have released a photo of the second shooter and are seeking help from the public in identifying him.
Several people of interest were brought in for interviews, and investigators executed several search warrants, but no arrests have been made yet, Toledo Police Chief Michael Trinley said at a press conference Tuesday.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute involving two rival groups, Trinley said.
Two groups were “disrespecting each other and it led into a little bit of a foot chase” before one individual assaulted another person. At that point, one person pulled out a firearm and started shooting. Someone from the rival group then pulled out his firearm and started returning fire,” Trinley said.
Both suspects are believed to be between the ages of 18 and 24, Trinley said.
Some of the victims shot were intentionally targeted, but the majority were innocent bystanders, according to Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ka Nye Taylor or the identity of the second shooter is encouraged to call or text Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
Police are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the suspects’ arrests. The U.S. Marshals Service is also offering an award of up to $5,000.

Rush offered up some more surprises during the second night of their Fifty Something tour stop at the KIA Forum in Los Angeles.
During Sunday’s opening night, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson kicked off the show’s second set with three parts of their seven-part track, “2112.” For Tuesday’s show, according to setlist.fm, they opened the set with all seven parts. They haven’t performed three of those parts — “Discovery,” “Oracle: The Dream” and “Soliloquy” — live since 1997.
While the show had repeat performances of classics like “The Spirit of the Radio,” “Freewill,” “Limelight” and “Tom Sawyer,” Rush did break out some new songs during night two that they haven’t played in a while. Those include “The Trees” and “A Passage to Bangkok,” which they haven’t played since 2008; “Leave That Thing Alone” and “Witch Hunt,” last played in 2011; and “The Analog Kid,” which they haven’t played since 2013.
They also performed “Finding My Way,” the lead-off track from their 1974 debut album, which they played at the 2026 Juno Awards in March, but prior to that hadn’t performed on tour since 1980.
Rush’s Fifty Something tour is their first tour since 2015’s R40 Live, and their first since the 2020 death of drummer Neil Peart. They return to the KIA Forum on Thursday.

William “Billy” Schmidt, 22, was shot in the chest at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in an apparent robbery, according to Philadelphia police.
No arrests have been made, police said on Wednesday.
Billy Schmidt had been watching the NBA Finals game with his friends at a bar and was walking home when he was shot, his father, Bill Schmidt, told Philadelphia ABC station WPVI.
“He was a really good person who cared about everybody,” Bill Schmidt said. “… For him to get shot like that is a travesty.”
The vigil and protest, called “Justice for Billy,” will be held Thursday evening in Philadelphia.
“We are taking our streets back. … we won’t stop until our community is safe,” the flyer said.
The 22-year-old was studying digital journalism and media at Penn State World Campus, according to the university.
“We are heartbroken over the tragic death of William Schmidt, and we share our deepest condolences with his family and friends,” a Penn State spokesperson said in a statement.

Police are searching for two men suspected of fatally beating a mother-of-four, Keisha Falow, in this alleyway in North Philadelphia, June 7, 2026. (WPVI)
(PHILADELPHIA) — Two suspects are being sought in a horrific homicide in which police allege a mother of four was beaten with bricks and stomped to death during a robbery in North Philadelphia.
The victim, identified as 45-year-old Keisha Furlow, lived near an alley where she was found brutally beaten early Sunday morning, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
“Investigators also recovered two bloodied bricks on the ground in close proximity to the victim, which are believed to have been used in the assault,” police said in a statement on Wednesday to ABC News.
ABC Philadelphia station WPVI obtained security video that captured the deadly incident. In the grainy video, an individual is seen appearing to throw a woman to the ground in the North Philadelphia alley and then hitting her repeatedly in the head with a brick, kicking her, and stomping her face, WPVI reported.
The suspected attacker and an accomplice fled the scene with Furlow’s purse, which was discovered by officers emptied of its contents a few blocks from where the fatal attack occurred.
Police officers were called to investigate a disturbance in the alley off North Opal Street around 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, according to the police statement.
When police arrived, paramedics were already at the scene and pronounced Furlow dead, according to the statement.
“Upon arriving at the location, officers discovered a female victim lying on the ground in the rear alleyway suffering from severe lacerations to her face,” police said in the statement.
Authorities are asking anyone with knowledge of the case to contact Philadelphia homicide detectives.
Neighbors expressed outrage over Furlow’s death, saying she was a mother of four, including an 11-month-old baby.
“I hope whoever did it, I hope that justice will be brought because she didn’t seem to bother anybody in this community, and I just don’t understand it,” neighbor Alexia Zia told WPVI.
Darnel Henry, another North Philadelphia resident, said Furlow’s death is a reminders that “There are demons out here.”
“She didn’t cause no problems with nobody. She did what she did; that was how she lived. But she was at peace with it,” Henry said told WPVI. “But for her to be dead in that alleyway, nobody should go out like that.”

Selena Gomez is in London filming the new season of Only Murders in the Building, and she misses her husband, Benny Blanco. But maybe it would help if she watches the new ad for Jennifer Aniston’s haircare line, because they’re both in it.
Sharing a carousel of photos of them together, Selena wrote to Benny on Instagram, “distance means so little when someone means so much….@itsbennyblanco mish you bb.” Benny wrote in the comments, “I fall more and more in love with you everyday” and “time stands still when i’m in ur arms.”
But meanwhile, in a new ad for Jennifer’s Lolavie hair care line, Benny unexpectedly shows up at her house so she can do his hair. They walk into another room, only to find Selena sitting there, which also surprises Jen.
“What are you doing here?” Selena asks Benny. “My appointment,” Benny explains. Selena says she’s there to bring Jen some gifts from her Rare Beauty line.
As Jen attempts to tame Benny’s unruly mop of curls, Selena raids Jen’s closet and runs out with a couple of blazers. “Is this on the giveaway pile? Cause I see about eight more things,” she says. “Take whatever you want,” Jen says. Benny, meanwhile, grabs a pair of Jimmy Choo heels for himself.
As they leave Jen’s house, the Friends star closes the door in relief and says, “That was so weird.”

Roger Taylor’s ‘Violence Insane in a Beautiful World’ (Columbia Records)
Queen’s Roger Taylor is set to release the new solo album, Violence Insane in a Beautiful World, on Sept. 18. The record is his seventh solo album, and his first since 2021’s Outsider.
“There is a theme, you know, it’s in the title really, what a beautiful world we live in, don’t f*** it up,” Taylor says of the record. “There seems to be all this insanity at the moment. The violence in the world seems to be as bad as it ever was, at any point, and certainly in my lifetime. It’s just horrific, a lot of insane violence. And we do seem to be f***** up the world, plastics in the sea, you know, and all these awful wars everywhere and hatred born of different religions.”
Despite that, Taylor notes, “It’s a beautiful world, you know. And kindness is very important, I think, it seems to be forgotten quite a lot. So, that is basically the sort of underlying theme.”
Taylor offers up the first preview of the record with the release of the single “Come On Summer (It’s Time To Party)” featuring The Ndlovu Youth Choir from Limpopo, South Africa. It is available now via digital outlets.

Facebook is facing the music in the new trailer for The Social Reckoning.
The companion film to 2010’s The Social Network will tell the true story of young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, who enlists the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White, to blow the whistle on Facebook’s questionable practices.
Their work ultimately culminated in a 2021 exposé known as The Facebook Files, which exposed the inner workings and harms caused by Facebook.
In the clip, we see the two going up against the social network giant, headed by Jeremy Strong’s Mark Zuckerberg.
“I’m a free speech absolutist and I’m not the one who’s lying,” Strong as Zuckerberg says as he’s accused of injecting a “fire hose of bad information” into society.
The film was written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, who previously wrote the Oscar-winning screenplay for The Social Network. It also stars Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen and Bill Burr.
