Hyro the Hero premieres new song “Head Under Water” featuring Ice Nine Kills’ Dan Sugarman

Better Noise Music

Hyro the Hero has premiered a new song called “Head Under Water” featuring Ice Nine Kills guitarist Dan Sugarman.

“There’s such intense emotion we conveyed through this track that I hope listeners will be able to connect with it,” Hyro says. “It’s a deep dive into depression and the dark thoughts that arise when struggling with life’s problems.”

“When you feel like you have nobody to talk to or that can understand, it can lead to terrible things,” he continues. “Mental health is no longer a taboo subject and it’s being brought up in discussion throughout society today, so I wanted to touch on it because I know the feeling first-hand.”

“Head Under Water” also features the band Reddstar. You can listen to it now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying lyric video streaming now on YouTube.

David Letterman “disappointed” Warren Zevon didn’t get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Warren Zevon didn’t get chosen for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this week, and David Letterman, who is a huge Zevon fan, has some thoughts on the snub.

In a YouTube chat with his former Late Show colleagues Barbara Gaines and Mary Barclay, the former talk show host says he’s disappointed Zevon wasn’t recognized.

“Warren Zevon was on the ballot for the first time and was not voted in,” he says. “I will say that I’m disappointed. I’m not angry, because I would’ve been surprised had it gone the other way.” He adds, “I think to be angry would’ve been 30 years ago, when he should’ve been inducted.”

But Letterman doesn’t need the Hall of Fame to tell him how great Zevon is. “Warren can do without the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” he said. “I don’t care if it’s next year — we’re so long overdue on Warren, but that’s fine. He’s above and beyond the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.”

KISS’ Paul Stanley backtracks on gender confirming treatment tweet; Dee Snider defends his position

Francesco Prandoni/Getty Images

Paul Stanley and Dee Snider are both responding to the backlash they received over Stanley’s recent tweet about gender confirmation treatment for children, where he suggested it’s been “turned into a sad and dangerous fad.”

In a new post on social media, the KISS guitarist seems to regret his initial statement, saying, “While my thoughts were clear, my words clearly were not.”

Stanley insists he supports those struggling with their sexual identity, especially considering the “constant hostility” they experience, noting, “It’s hard to fathom the kind of conviction that one must feel to take those steps.”

But Stanley didn’t actually clarify what he meant by his original statement. “A paragraph or two will remain far too short to fully convey my thoughts or point of view,” he explained, “so I will leave that for another time and place.”

Meanwhile, Snider, who was dropped as a performer from SF Pride because he agreed with Stanley’s initial tweet, just released a statement regarding his position.

“I was not aware the transgender community expects fealty and total agreement with all their beliefs and any variation or derivation is considered transphobic,” he writes, insisting he has spent his lifetime supporting the transgender community’s right to “identify as they want.”

He does say, however, he does not “believe young children are ready to decide their gender allocation.” While he believes their choices “should be supported and accepted by their parents,” he doesn’t think they’re “mentally developed enough” to make such drastic decisions that could affect the rest of their lives.

He adds that he will continue to support the transgender community no matter how they feel about him, and also shares, “I am open to educating myself so I can be a better ally.”

New remix of David Bowie’s “Golden Years” out now

NILS MEILVANG/AFP via Getty Images

David Bowie’s 1975 track “Golden Years” has gotten the remix treatment with the release of the new digital single, “Golden Years (TOKiMONSTA Remix).”

“To me, I connect with Bowie as an amazing innovator. He was always reinventing himself and pushing the envelope of music while somehow never ceasing to be authentically himself,” Los Angeles-based producer and DJ TOKiMONSTA, born Jennifer Lee, shares. “His experimental fashion choices are always a beacon for me to challenge my style and look.”

The new take on the song is part of a trio of Bowie remixes for Peloton’s celebration of Bowie’s legacy, coinciding with his 75th birthday, which was in January.

The original “Golden Years,” released in November 1975, was the first single off Bowie’s classic album Station To Station and was a top 10 hit for the rocker. The tune has since been covered by artists like LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy and was even featured in the 2001 movie A Knight’s Tale.

Miguel’s 2010 hit “Sure Thing” sets new ‘Billboard’ chart record

Francis Specker/CBS

Miguel‘s single “Sure Thing” is making Billboard history more than a decade after its release. The song has been one of Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for 76 weeks, now holding the title as the track to spend the most weeks on the music chart. It replaces Mary J. Blige‘s “Be Without You,” which spent 75 weeks on the list from 2005 to 2007.

“Sure Thing,” released in 2010, now sits at #6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. A sped-up version of the track went viral on TikTok, soundtracking over 4 million videos on the platform.

“I’m glad that ‘Sure Thing’ still connects and resonates with a new audience, and that they feel what I’ve always felt with this song,” Miguel tells Billboard of his latest accomplishment. “More than anything, this achievement is a wild reminder of how things – all across the board – can cycle back into cultural relevance.”

BMLG Records

Chris Janson, and music icons Dolly Parton and Slash have teamed up for a new collaboration, “21 Forever.”

“There’s a time for young and dumb/ For lovers, lines and songs/ You go to bed in the morning/ After you/ stumble in at dawn Had to get my act together/ Learn to appreciate stormy weather/ You can’t be 21 forever,” Chris and Dolly sing in the chorus, while Slash shreds the electric guitar.

“I’m so thrilled to announce that two global icons have joined me for my absolute biggest collaboration to date,” shares Chris. “Dolly and Slash – it doesn’t get any bigger than that! I’m incredibly humbled and grateful for these two. I hope you all enjoy ’21 Forever.'”
