Dolly’s Parton’s Cup of Ambition isn’t just a metaphor anymore

Dolly Parton single-handedly taught the world that “a cup of ambition” is code for coffee.

Now, the phrase from her 1980 crossover hit, “9 to 5,” is officially becoming java as Dolly launches her own brand with Baton Rogue’s Community Coffee.

“I’ve spent a lifetime workin’ 9 to 5, 5 to 9, and every hour in between!” she says in a news release. “It takes a lot of energy to pursue your passion and navigate each day. That’s why I wanted to make a coffee that works just as hard.”

“You know, I begin each morning with a head full of dreams, a notepad full of ideas, and a cup or two of coffee,” Dolly continues. “Whether you’re chasing dreams, tackling that to-do list, or just enjoying a quiet morning at home, I hope it brings a smile with every sip.”

The superstar worked with the Saurage family, Community Coffee’s founders, to develop light, medium and dark roasts.

You’ll be able to get your first taste of Cup of Ambition June 24 at the opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, at Exit 22 off I-65 south of Nashville.

It’ll be available as ground coffee and K-Cups later this year. You can sign up to be among the first to know at CupOfAmbition.com.

Train has released a new song from their upcoming 12th album, Mad Dog in the Fog, due out Aug. 28.

The track, “Pennsylvania Turnpike,” arrives alongside a music video that finds Train frontman Pat Monahan returning to his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania. There, he shares photos of his parents and childhood memories, and visits his former home, old school and other landmarks in town that hold special meaning to him.

A series of captions throughout the video tells the story of how he became a singer and explains what prompted him to leave Erie — via the Pennsylvania Turnpike — and move to San Francisco, where Train was formed.

“This album is an ode to San Francisco. The memories we’ve made, the venues we’ve played, and the bars where we might’ve stayed at a little too long,” reads a note in the video comments. The album itself is named after a bar in the city.

“Pennsylvania Turnpike” is the follow-up to the previously released single, “The Weekend.”

Train will debut some of their new music during their Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in The Atmosphere Tour, which starts July 8 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

It’s time to get your Top 8 ready again. Or, should we say, Top 182.

Blink-182 has stepped into an internet time machine to revive the band’s Myspace page. The trio started posting again on the long-dormant site on Wednesday with throwback photos and videos from their Take Off Your Pants and Jacket era.

As previously reported, blink shared a teaser related to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket earlier in the week ahead of its upcoming 25th anniversary on Friday.

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, which was released on June 12, 2001, marked the fourth blink-182 album and was the follow-up to their massive 1999 breakout effort, Enema of the State. It spawned singles in “First Date,” “The Rock Show” and “Stay Together for the Kids,” and became the first blink album to hit #1 on the Billboard 200.

Kenny Loggins stopped by The Tonight Show Wednesday, where he put a new spin on some of his classic tunes.

Loggins joined host Jimmy Fallon and The Roots to perform a medley of his songs in a Classroom Instruments segment, including such tracks as “I’m Alright,” which appeared in the movie Caddyshack; “Danger Zone,” from Top Gun; the Loggins and Messina tune “Your Mama Don’t Dance”; and “Footloose.”

But before they broke into “Footloose” they were interrupted by actor John Lithgow, who channeled his Footloose character of Reverend Shaw Moore and objected to the music. Kevin Bacon, who played Ren McCormack in the film, popped up to declare, “I thought this was supposed to be a party, let’s dance.”

Loggins’ appearance comes ahead of his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday in New York City. Other performers being inducted this year include KISS’ Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette.

When The Strokes announced a U.S. tour in April, the schedule didn’t include a stop in the band’s hometown of New York City. Now, that oversight has been rectified.

Julian Casablancas and company will headline Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York, on Oct. 2. The bill will also include fellow NYC indie staple TV on the Radio, as well as Beach House and Fcukers.

You can register now for a presale happening June 17 at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public on June 18 at 10 a.m. ET.

For all ticket info, visit NYC.TheStrokes.com.

The Strokes’ tour launches Friday with a set at Bonnaroo. They’ll be supporting their upcoming album, Reality Awaits, due out June 26.

If you attend any of the shows, you may not see guitarist Nick Valensi onstage. The Strokes announced in May that Valensi was “taking a temporary break” from touring.

On This Day, June 11, 1988 …

Sting, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton and Dire Straits were among the artists who performed at the 70th birthday tribute concert for anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela.

The concert took place at London’s Wembley Stadium and also featured performances by Simple Minds, Joe Cocker, Bryan Adams, Peter Gabriel, Steven Van Zandt, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Tracy Chapman, George Michael, Eurythmics and more.

The concert was broadcast to over 60 countries, with an estimated 600 million people tuning in.

Mandela was still imprisoned in South Africa at the time of the concert. He was later released in February 1990. A second concert celebrating his release, Nelson Mandela: An International Tribute for a Free South Africa, took place at Wembley in April 1990.

Olivia Rodrigo’s mom skipped her Lollapalooza headlining set to see Korn

It turns out Olivia Rodrigo’s love of rock music runs in the family.

The “drivers license” star, who’s long expressed her love for bands including The White Stripes, Weezer and The Cure, said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday that her mom skipped her headlining set at Lollapalooza to see Korn instead.

“My mom likes like so many crazy metal bands,” Rodrigo told Jimmy Kimmel.

When Rodrigo headlined Lolla in 2025, her set was in direct conflict with Korn’s, which was happening at the same time on another stage at a different end of the festival. At first, Rodrigo thought that was a smart scheduling decision, since she figured the middle of the Venn diagram between Livies and “Freak on a Leash” fans was probably pretty small.

“Everyone’s, like, ‘Oh, that’s perfect!'” Rodrigo said. “The Olivia fans will see go see Olivia, the Korn fans will go see Korn, there’s really no overlap.”

“But there was one overlap,” she continued. “It was my mom. My mom, my mom skipped my show to go see Korn.”

Rodrigo added that she gave her blessing for her mom to go headbang to “Blind” instead of watching her own daughter headline Lollapalooza.

“I’m happy she got her night,” Rodrigo said.

Now we need to know what Rodrigo’s mom thinks of the new Korn single, “Reward the Scars.”

Taylor Swift was one of the many lucky celebrities who got to witness the Knicks’ historic comeback during Game 4 of the NBA Finals at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night — and she brought her celebrity pals with her.

Taylor and Mariska Hargitay, who appeared in Taylor’s video for “Bad Blood,” sat next to each other at the game wearing matching t-shirts that read “Stevie Knicks,” with a K.

Taylor’s friends Alana and Este Haim of the band Haim were also there, wearing different punning t-shirts: Alana’s read “Knickelback” with a K, while Este’s read, “Knicole Kidman” with a K.

Taylor’s other connection with Mariska Hargitay is that her Law & Order: Special Victims Unit character inspired the name of Taylor’s cat, Olivia Benson.

Taylor flew from LA, where she’d attended the Toy Story 5 premiere Tuesday night, to attend the game. She’ll be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame Thursday night, along with Alanis Morissette, KISS and Kenny Loggins, among others.
