New documentary shows why everything Elton John touches turns to gold

Gold records, gold Grammys, gold lamé outfits, gold jewelry — Elton John‘s life has been full of gold. That’s why he’s starring in a new documentary called Touched by Gold, produced by the World Gold Council — who knew that was a thing?

In the doc, Elton shows off his first-ever Gold record, which he says made him feel like he’d “made it”; his gold stage outfits, including his gold platform boots; and his trophies, including a custom EGOT statue he commissioned to mark the fact that he’s won at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. “An award doesn’t really look right unless it’s in gold,” he points out.

Elton also reminisces about his and husband David Furnish‘s wedding day, which took place when gay marriage became legal in the U.K. They already had their sons, Zachary Furnish-John and Elijah Furnish-John, who were 3 and 1 at the time, so they tied their gold wedding rings to stuffed rabbits and had the boys present them to their dads at the ceremony.

Gold also follows Elton into the studio: He explains that the best microphones have a gold-coated diaphragm inside them. “So obviously, I’ve gotten through a lot of gold, as I’ve been in the studio many times,” he notes. Gold is even found inside the pacemaker Elton had to get in 1999.

The weirdest gold thing Elton owns, though, would have to be the gold pendant and brooch he had made out of his left and right kneecaps after he had them removed and replaced with artificial knees. “I will no longer bow to any man” is written in Latin on the back of the pendant, because you can’t without kneecaps.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6.

Along the way, they’ve raised three daughters: 28-year-old Gracie McGraw, 27-year-old Maggie McGraw and 23-year-old Audrey McGraw.

Tim and Faith have also managed to make beautiful music together, including hits like “It’s Your Love,” “Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me” and “Like We Never Loved at All.”

But Tim admits he does still have at least one family goal.

“Look, I’ve been so fortunate and grateful for everything in my life. Everything’s gone way past any expectation or dreams that I could ever, ever hope for,” he reflects. “You know, I just want a good, healthy life for my daughters and for them to pursue their dreams, and have success and to be happy.”

“I mean, that’s on my bucket list, and you know, grandkids down the road for sure. But way down the road,” he laughs.

Next up, the potential grandfather plays the Rock the Cradle benefit Thursday in Nashville, which helps raise money to help newborns and moms.

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ stars talk about the ‘witchcraft’ of #1 hit ‘Golden’

The soundtrack of the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters has reached #1 on the Billboard 200, and four songs from the album are in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, including HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” which has been #1 for five weeks. May Hong, who voices Mira, one of the members of HUNTR/X, says the song is so catchy, it almost seems like magic.

“It fully feels like witchcraft,” she laughs to ABC Audio. “I don’t understand how something can be this addictive and I’m not sick of it and I can listen to it like 10 times in a row. And I said the other day, I saw like an interview that [I] did where I was like, ‘It’s too short,’ and it like sounds like a criticism — and it just isn’t. Like, I just want to keep listening to it!”

“Golden” is just one of four songs from the soundtrack that are currently in the top 10: The others are “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” by Saja Boys, and another HUNTR/X song, “How It’s Done,” which the group sings while kicking demon butt on an airplane and then parachuting into one of their sold-out concerts. May and Arden Cho, who voices HUNTR/X member Rumi, think that’s the reason for that song’s appeal.

“I feel like everybody has a part of them that’s like, ‘Ooh, I wanna be fierce and cool,'” Arden tells ABC Audio. “And the movie sort of helps you feel that energy.”

“I think that’s why kids love ‘How It’s Done,'” May notes, while Arden adds, “I mean, everything about that whole scene in the movie is insane!”

“Yeah, like jumping out of the plane,” May continues. “I think it’s, like, a pump-up song for kids.”

Arden adds, “Definitely for adults too!”

First We Feast/Hot Ones

If there’s one compliment that stays rent free in Keke Palmer‘s mind, it’s that she reminds Eddie Murphy of himself when he was younger. While eating spicy chicken in the latest episode of Hot Ones, she shared her reaction to hearing Eddie make that comparison.

“I was out of my mind. I couldn’t believe that the Eddie Murphy said that I reminded him of him,” Keke said. “Honestly, I feel like I wake up in the morning and I think about it.”

She also expressed her love for Eddie while praising his talent as an actor.

“I love Eddie Murphy! Eddie Murphy is such an incredible actor and the things that he’s done have never been done and will never be done again,” Keke continued. “I mean, he’s iconic. … I couldn’t believe it. I love ya, Eddie.”

Keke and Eddie worked together on the film The Pickup, which was released on Prime Video in August. While promoting the movie, he shared his admiration for Keke and her many talents.

“I was just watching her thinking how great she was,” Eddie told ETalk, admitting that he wasn’t too familiar with her work ahead of their time on set. He said he discovered more about her while making the movie and noticed her ability to adapt to her different roles.

“She’s interested, and she does so much stuff. And that she sings and does all this stuff, I was like, ‘Wow,'” Eddie continued. “She kind of reminds me of the way I used to do everything when I was younger.”

Keke’s full episode of Hot Ones is now available to watch on YouTube.

Dua Lipa continued her tradition of performing songs by local artists when she played Atlanta, Georgia on Sept. 13 and 14.  On the 13th, she covered Outkast’s #1 hit “Hey Ya!” and on the 14th, it was TLC‘s “No Scrubs.” You can see footage of Dua performing both those songs on her Instagram feed now.

Travis Kelce has no issue talking about his relationship with Taylor Swift, but Taylor’s friend Gracie Abrams doesn’t have a boyfriend who’s quite as forthcoming.

Gracie is dating Irish actor Paul Mescal, but when asked by Rolling Stone what led to them confirming their relationship on Instagram in July, he says, “I don’t know how to answer that.” Prior to that, Gracie had walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in May to support Mescal at the opening of his film The History of Sound.

“I actually do have an answer,” he continues. “But everything to do with that is deeply precious to me,” noting he wanted to protect “those things.”

In December 2024, Gracie said having her relationship put in the spotlight “has nothing to do with me,” adding, “It doesn’t affect me.”

By contrast, British actor Louis Partridge recently said he had no problem being known as “Mr. Olivia Rodrigo,” because he’s dating the “drivers license” star.
