There’s footage of Taylor Swift directing something posted on the Taylor Nation Instagram page, and you’ll likely get to see what that something is at a theater near you in October.

Following reports that some sort of “theatrical event” is being planned around the release of Taylor’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3, Variety reports that an 89-minute event called Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will arrive in theaters that day.

The event, which is being described as a film, will be in theaters Friday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 5, in every AMC Theatre location. AMC was Taylor’s partner for her Eras Tour film. But non-AMC theaters will also host screenings, including Cinemark and Regal theaters.

Tickets are now on sale at ReleasePartyofaShowgirl.com. They cost $12 because Showgirl is Taylor’s 12th album.

According to Variety, the 89-minute event will include the premiere of a video for the song “The Fate of Ophelia,” as well as behind-the-scenes footage from that video shoot, lyric videos for the album’s other songs and Taylor’s “personal reflections” on the album’s songs.

A rep for Taylor has confirmed the details of Variety‘s story to ABC News.

Songwriter Brett James, who is credited with writing or co-writing hundreds of songs — including Carrie Underwood‘s “Jesus, Take the Wheel” — was one of three people killed in a small plane crash in North Carolina, according to multiple people close to him.

A Cirrus SR22T crashed in a field in Franklin, North Carolina, around 3 p.m. local time Thursday, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Three people were on the plane when it crashed, officials confirmed. Nobody on board survived.

The crash happened on a property adjacent to the Iotla Valley Elementary School, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office told Asheville ABC affiliate WLOS, but students and staff at the school were all reported safe.

For more than 20 years, James was known primarily as a songwriter for other country and pop music artists, including Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean. Underwood’s hit song “Jesus, Take the Wheel” won Grammy Awards for best country song and best female country vocal performance.

Officials said they are still trying to figure out what caused the plane crash.

James, 57, is survived by his wife, Sandra Cornelius, and four children.

Dream Theater has announced a new live album called Quarantième: Live à Paris.

The set captures the prog metallers’ November 2024 show in Paris during their 40th anniversary tour, which marked their first live outing since the return of founding drummer Mike Portnoy in 2023.

“We always knew this tour would be unforgettable because not only were we celebrating 4 decades since forming the band, but also the reunion of the band’s classic lineup,” Portnoy says. “The excitement and emotions between us and our fans at each and every show were palpable and totally off the charts!”

He adds, “The night captured here in Paris was an epic evening that we can now share with the whole world to celebrate this incredible tour.”

Quarantième: Live à Paris will be released Nov. 28. You can watch the performance of the songs “Overture 1928” and “Strange Déjà Vu” on YouTube.

Dream Theater is currently touring the U.S. in support of their new album, Parasomnia, their first record with Portnoy in 16 years.

All Time Low has released a new song called “Butterflies,” a track off the band’s upcoming album, Everyone’s Talking!

“Butterflies is a song about transactional relationships and the realization that sometimes the company you keep doesn’t have your best interest in mind,” says frontman Alex Gaskarth. “They see you more as something to wear out like jewelry or a gateway to their next good time.”

He adds, “It’s a bookend on the record that symbolizes closure in my life, bidding farewell to fair-weather acquaintances, set to half-time and riffs I would’ve written when I kept the door open for people like that.”

You can watch the “Butterflies” video on YouTube.

Everyone’s Talking!, the follow-up to 2023’s Tell Me I’m Alive, drops Oct. 17. It also includes the single “The Weather,” plus the tracks “Oh No!” and “SUCKERPUNCH.”

All Time Low will launch a U.S. tour in October.

While Taylor Swift has been rumored to be playing the halftime show at the 2026 Super Bowl, there’s reportedly at least one other global superstar’s name in the mix.

Insiders tell Page Six that Adele has been “approached” to play the show and has been “in talks,” though she hasn’t actually been booked. Adele’s fiancé Rich Paul is a top sports agent, and she’s attended the Super Bowl before, but at the time, she said she was only going to see Rihanna, who was playing halftime that year.

According to Page Six, Adele was first invited to perform at the Super Bowl back in 2016, but she said no, telling fans that the halftime show is “not about music,” and adding, “I can’t dance or anything like that.”

The halftime show performer is usually announced in September, and is chosen by Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation and the NFL. Miley Cyrus is another artist whose name has been mentioned for the gig.

Super Bowl 60 is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 8.

Aerosmith and Yungblud have shared their new collaborative single, “My Only Angel.”

The track follows Steven Tyler and Joe Perry’s performance with Yungblud, born Dominic Harrison, at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne.

“The decision to meet Yungblud and make this music with him … was like plugging into pure electricity!,” Tyler says. “For Joe and me it was another cosmic collision … to find ourselves in the studio with this outrageously talented and positively wild animal named Dom.”

“Aerosmith have been such a staple of rock and roll and showmanship for me, so I’ve been ready for this my whole life,” Yungblud adds. “As soon as we entered the studio, the chemistry exploded and the songs just poured out of us.”

“My Only Angel” is out now, and it will also appear on an upcoming joint Aerosmith/Yungblud EP called One More Time, due out Nov. 21.

One More Time marks the first set of new Aerosmith music in over 12 years. Along with “My Only Angel,” it includes three more new original songs, plus an updated mix of the Aerosmith classic “Back in the Saddle.”

Miley Cyrus‘ “Secrets” is out.

The song is one of two new tracks on the just released deluxe edition of Miley’s most recent album, Something Beautiful. She writes on Instagram, “This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same.”

Miley recruited two members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Fleetwood Mac — guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and drummer Mick Fleetwood — to play on the song, and she thanks them on Instagram for “bringing magic to the music.” She adds, “This song is for my dad.”

While appearing on Monica Lewinsky‘s podcast in June, Miley spoke about the song. She said she wanted her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, to share family secrets with her “even though I didn’t really want to know.”

The deluxe album also includes “Lockdown,” a collaboration with Talking Heads frontman David Byrne that runs for more than 13 minutes. It’s described as a song that “expands the sonic and conceptual reach of the Something Beautiful era.”

Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley marked the 20th anniversary of Miranda’s Kerosene by duetting on the title track at the ACM Awards in May, sparking a friendship that’s only grown.

“I love her,” Miranda says. “We’ve been writing together and I’m just helping with part of her next era, I guess, in her music. And I love being there to help guide whatever she needs because I just think she’s our next legend, and I’m excited to see when the world figures that out.”

“I think it’s happening now, which is amazing,” she adds.

That same night, Miranda debuted “Trailblazer” with Reba McEntire and Lainey Wilson, just another expression of the bond between the women of country music.

“I feel like I’m like big sister [to Ella],” Miranda says, “and we[‘ve] got Lainey, middle sister, and we[‘ve] got Reba, older sister, and it just feels like a good sisterhood to be in.”

Miranda, Lainey and Ella will all vie for the female vocalist trophy at November’s CMA Awards.
