Wale is shedding light on a different side of D.C. with a new series about real-life hitman Wayne “Silk” Perry,  now known as Nkosi Shaka Zulu El. According to The Hollywood Reporterhe’s acquired a share in Perry Industries, which owns Perry’s life rights, and will help bring the hitman’s story to life on the small screen.

Silk will follow Perry’s journey as hitman and enforcer for New York drug dealer Alpo Martinez in the early ’90s during a time when D.C. was called the “murder capital,” THR reports. The series is currently in its formative stages of development.

“D.C. is more than just politics. We have a rich, Black history that’s inspired audiences around the world, and it’s time to tell more stories that are based here. That era in D.C. was internationally famous,” Wale says in a statement, according to THR. “The Redskins were winning Super Bowls, the mayor was indicted by the FBI, Joe Biden passed the crime bill, and D.C. had 482 homicides — the highest in the country.”

“At the same time, our regional genre of go-go was thriving, and Def Jam, the label I’m signed to now, was the first major label to sign a go-go band with a song on the Hot 100 produced by Rick Rubin,” he continues. “There was a lot going on, and we want to weave all of these stories together.”

Dustin Lynch continues to explore the fusion of country and dance with his new track, “Home to You.”

It’s a collab with “twin-brother folktronica duo” MC4D, made up of siblings Matt Drake and Chris Drake.

“I’m fired up to finally drop ‘Home To You’ with MC4D,” Dustin says. “We’ve been testing it out in the club sets day and night, and it’s been electric. Jumping into this new lane has awakened a whole new part of my soul.”

“Getting to create and collaborate in new ways this far into my career has been some of the most fun and fulfilling music-making I’ve ever done,” he adds.

The new song follows July’s Club Set Remixes EP, which reimagines some of Dustin’s biggest hits, like “Small Town Boy,” “Seein’ Red” and “Stars Like Confetti.”

“He’s pioneering such a unique lane when it comes to his country-EDM project,” MC4D says in a news release, “and we’re so grateful for the energy and excitement that he’s brought to this song. ‘Home To You’ feels like the perfect mix of Dustin’s hit country sound and our melodic EDM project, and stylistically we feel it really stands apart in the developing country crossover landscape.”

Next up, Dustin launches the Two for the Road Tour with Scotty McCreery Nov. 6 in Saginaw, Michigan.

Young Thug has released Uy Scuti, his first full-length album since being released from jail. It opens with the track “Ninja,” which features a clip of a statement a state prosecutor made during his RICO case.

“He’s the one directing traffic, he is the one that we’re all afraid of,” the prosecutor says. “He’s the one that’s King Slime, he’s pulling the shots, he is the most dangerous of the 28, judge. And I implore you not to grant him a bond. He is dangerous.”

Elsewhere on the album, Thugger addresses the recent jail call scandal, music’s positive effects on his life, women and his luxurious lifestyle. There’s also a shot toward Gunna on “Dreams Rarely Do Come True.”

“Why would I cry over a b**** I gave to Gunna police a**?” Thug raps. Thugger also seemingly took shots at Gunna on “Sad Slime.”

“I seen my brother turn rat in my face/ I been cryin’ all day,” he raps on the chorus. “Tryna pick a n**** up, tryna put a n**** down/ I been goin’ through it bad, but I try not to frown.”

Thug continues, “I seen a gangster turn rat, they turned him to a pack/ Interrogation room junkie, n**** gon’ crack.”

Thug spent over 900 days in jail in connection with a RICO indictment that also led to Gunna’s arrest. Gunna was released after taking an Alford plea in 2022; taking an Alford plea means a defendant pleads guilty — while still maintaining their innocence — because the prosecution has enough evidence to convict.

Gunna was accused of snitching, which he denied, but it seemingly took a toll on his friendship with Thug.

Thug accepted a plea deal and was released in November 2024.

Uy Scuti is named after the red supergiant, considered the biggest known star in the universe. Features include Cardi BFutureTravis Scott21 SavageSexyy RedLil Baby and Mariah the Scientist.

Chayce Beckham’s Vegas wedding vision has come true

Chayce Beckham is now a married man.

The 2021 American Idol winner made the announcement on his socials, sharing a video of him driving down the Las Vegas strip with his bride, Ashley Britt.

“Mr. & Mrs. Beckham,” the caption states.

Chayce is behind the wheel of a classic convertible in the black-and-white clip, holding hands with Ashley as the sights of Sin City pass by. He’s wearing a dark suit, while the bride’s white veil and bouquet are both visible. The video’s set to Stevie Wonder‘s 1970 hit “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours).”

The California native proposed to his longtime girlfriend last October during a concert in Anaheim. Shortly afterward, he told ABC Audio the two envisioned a small wedding in Vegas — presided over by an Elvis Presley impersonator — with a “big celebration” to follow later.

The newlyweds don’t have a ton of time for a honeymoon, it seems. Chayce kicks off his Canadian tour with Warren Zeiders Oct. 1 in London, Ontario.

On This Day, Sept. 26, 1979: U2 releases their debut EP, ‘Three’

On This Day, Sept. 26, 1979 …

U2 made their recording debut with the release of a three-song EP, aptly titled Three.

The release featured the songs “Out of Control” and “Stories for Boys,” which were both later rerecorded for their debut album, Boy. The other song on the release was the B-side “Boy/Girl.”

U2, of course, went on to huge success, releasing 14 studio albums and selling over 150 million records worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

Three was later reissued in November 2019 as part of Record Store Day Black Friday, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its original release.

U2’s last release was 2023’s Songs of Surrender, which featured reworked versions of previously released songs. They have reportedly been working on a new album, which frontman Bono has described as a “an unreasonable guitar record.”

Brandon Lake‘s already found success in Christian music, but he now has his first country hit and a CMA nomination thanks to his collaboration with Jelly Roll.

“I wrote the song ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’ with some friends of mine last year, and then I released it,” Brandon explains. “And just thinking about the lyrics of this song, I knew it would resonate with Jelly Roll. I thought it might be a long shot, but we reached out, having no idea that Jelly Roll had already heard the song on TikTok.”

Luckily, timing was on Brandon’s side, since Jelly had recently scaled back his screen time.

“A week [later] he threw his phone away, switched to a flip phone,” Brandon says. “And so he was like, ‘I love this song.’ My team reaches out and was like ‘Hey, would you jump on this song?’ having no idea what’s going on. He was like automatically … ‘100% yes, I love this song.’ And we just hit it off and became bros.”

You’ll find “Hard Fought Hallelujah” on Brandon’s King of Hearts album, which also features Gabby Barrett on the track “As for Me & My Home.”

Thanks to their collaboration, Brandon and Jelly will also vie for musical event of the year at November’s CMA Awards.
