KISS founding member Ace Frehley has canceled a Friday concert appearance in California after injuring himself in a fall.

“Dear Rock Soldiers, Ace had a minor fall in his studio, resulting in a trip to the hospital,” read a post on the guitarist’s social media pages. “He is fine, but against his wishes, his doctor insists that he refrain from travel at this time.”

“As a result, he is forced (to) cancel his performance at the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California on Friday, September 26th,” the post continues.

Frehley’s page encourages fans to go to the show anyway and check out Quiet Riot and Vixen, who are also on the bill.

The post also gave fans an update on what Ace has been up to, noting he “looks forward to continuing on his tour and finishing work on his next album, Origins Vol. 4.”

Origins Vol. 2 is a covers album that was released in 2020. Origins Vol. 3 is expected out sometime in 2025, although no release date has been revealed.

Frehley’s next scheduled concert is Oct. 11 in Decatur, Illinois. A complete list of dates can be found at AceFreheley.com.

Take me to church, little lion man.

Hozier and Mumford & Sons have teamed up to release a song called “Rubber Band Man,” which will be out Oct. 24. The song is not a cover of The Spinners‘ 1976 funky #2 hit “The Rubberband Man.” Based on an Instagram clip of the two acts working on the song, it sounds like a folky, acoustic guitar-based tune, which is pretty much what you’d expect. Even Marcus Mumford is seen describing part of the song as “the strummy strummy thing.”

“You’re a world away/ but you’re still the same/ I know you by heart and I will call you by your name,” the two acts sing. “And it’s a long way from the crack to the grave/ you know that I remember everything.”

“Yeah, that’s gonna be so dope,” exclaims Marcus.

The two acts have previously performed together onstage at Bonnaroo in 2015 and at the Austin City Limits festival in 2023, but this is their first recorded collaboration.

Hozier will perform at Eddie Vedder‘s Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, on Sunday, and at this year’s Austin City Limits festival on Oct. 3. Mumford’s next live show is Oct. 8 in Chicago.

The Nas-backed bid to bring Resorts World NYC to Queens, New York, has been approved, Resorts World has announced. The Community Advisory Board announced the decision following a unanimous vote Thursday in favor of the development. According to a press release, the next step is to receive final approval from the Gaming Facility Location Board.

“On behalf of the entire Resorts World team, I want to thank the Community Advisory Committee for recognizing the impact we will have not only on Queens but all of New York City and State,” said Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, the regional operator of Resorts World New York City, in a press release. “We are incredibly grateful to the large number of residents, partners, and supporters who touted this project, without a single person speaking against it. This is a testament to our mission – solidified over the last 15 years – to be the best neighbor possible here in Queens.”

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards also shared his thoughts on the announcement, while poking fun at Jay-Z‘s proposal for a Times Square casino being rejected.

“There’s a theme in Queens, and I know that Nas was a part of this: Queens get the money. Sorry, Jay-Z, we win again,” Richards said in a clip making its rounds on social media. “You can let the Brooklyn borough president know that I send my regards to him.”

If approved, the Resorts World, worth $5.5 billion, will “create 24,000 new jobs” and “provide $1 billion in new incremental revenue to New York State in 2026, and billions of dollars in economic activity beginning as soon as next July,” according to a press release. The expansion will also include 30 food and beverage outlets and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue, among other things.

Doja Cat has released her new album, Vie [vee], and gives a nod to her mom in a new video for one of the tracks.

Doja explains in a statement that the album’s title was “a choice of worldplay”: It’s her fifth album, and the Roman numeral for five is a capital V. Doja also has that Roman numeral tattooed on her collarbone. The word “vie” means “life” in French.

“Five in numerology represents curiosity, adventure, and change,” she says. “I chose Vie as a nod to [the song] ‘La Vie en Rose’ and tied it together with the theme of romance and throughout this project I give my interpretation on love, sex, romance, pain, and wonder within a relationship.”

She adds, “I feel strongly about the meaning of the word Vie because without life there is no love and without love there is no adventure. This is an adventurous album and with homages and nods to the [’80s, ’70s and ’90s], I wanted to give my own personal modern twist.”

One of the songs on the new album is called “Gorgeous.” Doja has dropped a super-glam video for it, inspired by makeup commercials from the ’80s. It stars her and a group of famous models, including Alek Wek, Irina Shayk, Karen Elson, Paloma Elsesser, Alex Consani and Amelia Gray.

Also appearing briefly is Doja’s mom, Deborah Sawyer; she pops up in the part where Doja says, “I look like my family, I don’t need to brag.”

If you want to be as glam as Doja, there’s a new Amazon Music merch line inspired by the new album.

Doja will cohost The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Oct. 1 and appear on Saturday Night Live Oct. 4.

Two very different worlds collide, as Texas traditionalist Hudson Westbrook collaborates with artist/producer Marshmello on the new track “Better Man Than Me.”

“Marshmello has such a specific vibe,” Hudson says. “It’s been fun to collaborate with him because this song is so different from anything else I’ve ever done.”

“I’ll always be true to my Texas roots, so I brought that with me on this track,” he adds. “It’s been stuck in my head for months, happy for y’all to have it.”

Hudson and Marshmello also shot a “21st century western” music video for “Better Man Than Me,” complete with cowboys and cops.

Marshmello previously topped the country chart with “Miles on It” with Kane Brown and more recently released “Holy Water” with Jelly Roll.

Lewis Capaldi is scheduled to perform in Nottingham, England, Friday night, but ahead of the concert he decided to capitalize on the fact that his name is similar to that of a supermarket chain.

As documented on his Instagram, Lewis performed a surprise concert on the roof of the city’s Aldi supermarket. The first photo on his post shows him holding up a sign reading “CAP” in front of the Aldi logo — the caption reads, “capAldi, had to be done x.”

Lewis is seen in the post’s video singing his new single, “Something in the Heavens,” as excited fans below film him on their phones and hold up signs reading, “We love you Lewis.” It marked the first time Lewis has performed the single outside of his current arena tour.

According to ITV.com, Lewis also sang some of his previous hits during the rooftop concert.

Lewis staged a comeback in June after a two-year hiatus, dropping the single “Survive” and appearing at the Glastonbury Festival. During his 2023 appearance at that same festival, he was unable to finish singing “Someone You Loved” due to his Tourette’s syndrome, so the crowd helped him through it. After that, he announced he was stepping away to focus on his physical and mental health.
