Foo Fighters perform ‘But Here We Are’ songs on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Rosalind O’Connor/NBC

Foo Fighters performed on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze.

Dave Grohl and company played two songs off their new album, But Here We Are: “Rescued” and “The Glass.” For “Rescued,” the Foos were introduced by Christopher Walken — a callback to the actor’s impression-inspiring introduction of the band during their 2003 SNL performance — while “The Glass” featured a duet with Grammy-winning R&B artist H.E.R.

The night also saw Grohl appear in a couple of sketches. In “Lake Beach,” Bargatze, Andrew Dismukes and James Austin Johnson play a country music trio whose song mentions an uncle, Grohl, who takes cornhole way too seriously and blows his hand off with fireworks. Oh, and he’s also the town priest.

Grohl also returned to the scene of the Foos’ “Learn to Fly” video in the sketch “Airplane,” in which a woman about to give birth during a flight asks for medical assistance. While the other passengers bicker about what the “second-best” job is after doctor, Grohl shows up in scrubs and a lab coat, only to reveal he’s actually wearing a Halloween costume.

The episode marked Foo Fighters’ ninth time as the musical guest on SNL, and 10th if you count their special guest performance alongside Mick Jagger in 2012.

But Here We Are was released in June. It’s the first Foo Fighters record following the 2022 death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Controlled Substance Sound Labs

Music notes: Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and more

There’s no bad blood between Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar. In fact, Kendrick returned to rerecord his verse on Taylor’s version of their “Bad Blood” remix. The song appears on the deluxe edition of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which dropped mere hours after the rerecorded album released on Friday, October 27. Taylor thanked Kendrick on social media, saying that creating with him “was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life.” She continued, “Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line ‘you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!’, I smiled.”

Dua Lipa appears to be teasing new music. On Friday, the singer posted a close-up photo of her smile, with a key wedged between her teeth. “catch me or I go…,” the photo’s caption reads. This tease comes after Dua posted a since-deleted Instagram photo on October 12, with the caption, “miss me…?”

Justin Timberlake has turned his Instagram comments off after the release of Britney Spears‘ memoir, The Woman in Me. This could be because Britney revealed many new details about her relationship with Justin in the book, including that he allegedly cheated on her. On Friday, Justin’s wife, Jessica Biel, also turned her Instagram comments off, after Britney fans flocked to her comment section.

Jonathan Majors’ ‘Magazine Dreams’ film removed from Disney release schedule

Searchlight Pictures

Amid his legal woes stemming from a domestic violence arrest in March, Jonathan Majors‘ film Magazine Dreams has been quietly removed from its December 8 release date by Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures.

The change was noticed amid several shifts in Disney’s schedule, including a bump of its live-action Snow White to 2025. While there was no specific mention of Majors’ legal trouble, it’s safe to say it had to be on some executives’ minds.

According to a synopsis from the Sundance Film Festival, where Magazine Dreams screened earlier this year to acclaim, Majors plays an obsessive bodybuilder in the picture: “Though Killian’s struggles to read social cues and maintain control of his volatile temper amplify his sense of disconnection amid a hostile world, nothing deters him from his fiercely protected dream of bodybuilding superstardom, not even the doctors who warn that he’s causing permanent damage to his body with his quest.”

This week a New York City judge rejected an attempt by the actor’s lawyers to have him dismiss the case. Instead, Majors was given a trial date of November 29 to face the misdemeanor charges.

As reported, the actor was charged with four misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault in an alleged domestic violence incident on March 25.

Majors’ 30-year-old former girlfriend reportedly sustained minor injuries in the incident, but Majors’ lawyers claim she attacked him, prompting him to call 911.

Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry said the evidence would prove the actor is innocent.

Megan Thee Stallion teases new music project “Cobra”

Taylor Hill/Getty Images

Megan Thee Stallion fans will soon have new music from the rapper, as she announced Friday, October 27, that “Cobra” is coming on November 3.

While she doesn’t make it clear if it’s a new single or a full-on album, the H-Town hottie does confirm it’s music related, given the presave link included in her Instagram bio. The link takes fans to a page of music streaming services.

What is known is that the new project will be Megan’s first as an independent artist after she announced in an Instagram Live she was no longer tied to any record label.

“This part of my album is very much so funded by Megan Thee Stallion because we’re trying to get off,” she said, seemingly referencing her legal battle with 1501 Certified Entertainment. “Y’all know what’s the tea. But I have no label right now.”

In the project art shared to social media Friday, a nearly naked Megan poses in front of a wooded area with the words “Cobra – A Story by Megan Thee Stallion” etched on the bottom of the graphic.

She made reference to the slick animal in an earlier Instagram tease along with caption “Act One.”
