Promoting his new book, Heart Life Music, has landed Kenny Chesney on the cover of Newsweek, and the superstar can’t quite believe it.

“Newsweek covers diplomats, business leaders, scientists and doctors, people who save lives,” he continues. “I live to make people happy, to create space with my songs for people to see their own lives; it’s not quite the same.”
You can check out a version of the cover story titled “Keeping It Real: Kenny Chesney Stays True to His Roots” online.

Robert Plant‘s appearance on The Late Show Tuesday turned into a surprise J.R.R. Tolkien nerd-fest.
In speaking with host Stephen Colbert, the Led Zeppelin icon was asked about living in the same area where the author of TheLord of the Rings and The Hobbit once resided.
“Tolkien was a master,” Plant began before asking Colbert if he’d heard the writer’s audio recordings. Colbert, whose love for all things Middle-earth is so well known that it got him a cameo in one of the Hobbit movies, then proceeded to recite Tolkien’s writings word for word.
“That’s magnificent,” an impressed Plant, who would reference The Lord of the Rings in Led Zeppelin lyrics, responded as he shook Colbert’s hands.
After exchanging a few more Tolkien tidbits, Plant then asked Colbert, “Fancy a drink afterwards?”
“I’ve got a spear in the car,” Plant quipped, to which Colbert responded, “I’ve got a shield up there.”
In addition to geeking out over Tolkien, Plant released a new album, Saving Grace, in September.

The Doobies crammed into the performance series’ famously intimate setup to play a set of classics, including “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Black Water” and “Listen to the Music.”
They also played the song “Angels & Mercy” off their new album, Walk This Road.
“It’s not like this at gigs,” founding member Tom Johnston remarked of the Tiny Desk audience. “We just played up in New York at Jones Beach last night and y’all are outdoing them. It’s pretty cool.”
You can watch the Doobies’ Tiny Desk performance on YouTube.
Walk This Road was released in June. It marks the first original Doobies record to feature Michael McDonald in over 40 years.

Role Model is ‘PEOPLE”s first-ever centerfold (Credit: Jonny Marlow)
Sometimes the squeaky wheel does get the grease. Last year, Role Model campaigned hard to be chosen as Sexiest Musician in People magazine’s Readers’ Choice Poll, but lost to Harry Styles. But this year, he has the last laugh: He’s been chosen to be the magazine’s first-ever centerfold.
“I feel amazing,” Role Model, born Tucker Pillsbury, tells People. “I’m honored.”
In the centerfold, though, Tucker isn’t showing off his Pillsbury. He’s posing naked except for a pair of white socks, with a large newspaper covering his midsection. The headline reads, “Role Model Certified Sexy!”
When Role Model campaigned for the title last year, he went all in, even making merch and renting billboards. Explaining why he went to such lengths for a not-very-important title, he tells People, “My argument was always this. Obviously, Harry Styles is in the lead, just off the bat. … How cool would it have been to let the underdog win, me?”
“Harry Styles has everything. He’s got a brand. He’s got to be almost touching a billion dollars at this point. Sold out shows, amazing career, beautiful looks. He doesn’t need this. He didn’t need it,” the singer adds. “I needed it and it was taken from me and I think there was just a little bit of cheating that you guys could have done to put me in the lead.”
In other Role Model news, when he performed in London on Tuesday One Direction singer Niall Horan was the surprise Sally during “Sally When the Wine Runs Out.” You can see footage of him joining Role Model onstage on Instagram.
