As the Kings of Leon family gets bigger, the band will be down one Followill on the live stage for a bit.
Guitarist Matthew Followill, cousin of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill, just welcomed a new baby with his wife Johanna, and therefore will not join his band mates on their upcoming tour.
“During this special time, Matt has decided to be home with his family,” the Kings write in an Instagram post.
In Matt’s stead, the Followill brothers have recruited past and present touring KoL members Timothy Deaux and Chris Coleman.
“We look forward to welcoming [Matt] back soon,” the post reads. “And seeing all of you even sooner!”
Kings of Leon’s tour kicks off in August. They’ll be supporting their new album When You See Yourself, which was released in March.
A limited-edition 20-CD live Grateful Dead box set, featuring seven full previously unreleased concert performances that the band played in St. Louis in 1971, 1972 and 1973, will be issued on October 1.
Listen to the River: St. Louis ’71 ’72 ’73 includes audio of shows that took place December 9-10, 1971, and October 17-19, 1972, at the Fox Theatre, as well as October 29 and 30, 1973, performances at Kiel Auditorium.
The box set comes with an 84-page hardbound book that features several essays about the concerts, including one penned by The Dead’s tour manager during that time, Sam Cutler.
The shows featured the band playing 60 different songs, including covers of three tunes by St. Louis’ own Chuck Berry — “Run Rudolph Run,” “Johnny B. Goode” and “Around and Around.”
“The seven shows in this boxed set perfectly summarize 22 months of Grateful Dead music, performances, and growth,” says Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux, who also produced the collection.

Offset opened up about his first date with his wife, Cardi B, on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Migos rapper said he wanted to impress the “Up” artist with a one-of-a-kind date experience.
“My first date I went big. I wanted to do something that was not normally done,” Offset shared with guest host Anthony Anderson. “I wanted to have fun and not be so serious and enjoy the time, so I took her to the Super Bowl.”
Offset noted it was the 2017 Super Bowl between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. The Atlanta native recalled his team doing well until the second half of the game when Patriots quarterback TomBrady took over.
“I lost $10,000 that night,” Offset said before smiling. “But you know what I won? My wife.”
Anderson went on to ask about the expensive gifts he exchanges with Cardi on holidays, birthdays, etc. He mentioned the Lamborghini truck Offset gifted Cardi for her 26th birthday, the $300 thousand Rolls Royce Cullinan Cardi purchased Offset last October, and a $150,000 diamond necklace gifted to their daughter, Kulture, on her third birthday.
Cardi B and Offset married in 2017 and are expecting their second child. When asked if he plans to get Cardi an expensive “push gift,” Offset responded, “I feel like the gift is the beautiful child. I’m [going to] get her a gift, though. I got to.”
After reports that their marriage was on the rocks, it’s official: Superstar music manager Scooter Braun has filed for divorce from his wife, Yael Cohen.
Scooter guides the careers of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato and The Kid LAROI, among others, and is also the co-CEO of HYBE America, a branch of the company that’s home to K-pop supergroup BTS. However, he’s perhaps best known for his very public feud with Taylor Swift, who’s accused him of bullying her and preventing her from owning her master recordings.
The legal papers, obtained by ABC News, cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and also reveal that the couple has a pre-nup in place.
Braun and Cohen, the founder of the charity F– Cancer, married in July 2014 and have three children: sons Jagger, 6, and Levi, 4, and 2½-year-old daughter Hart. He’s requested joint custody.
Earlier this month, Scooter posted a tribute to Yael on Instagram, writing, “If just for the kids you have given me everything. But thanks to you I have grown, I have been pushed to be the best version of myself and to continue growing and learning. That all happened because you came in to
After getting married earlier this month, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are as smitten as ever. Fans recently got a first-hand account of the wedded bliss from Gwen, who said in an interview with the Tell Me About It podcast that the couple was enjoying “total honeymoon vibes right now.”
“It was literally one of the greatest moments of my life, obviously,” the pop superstar explained. “It was beyond what I thought it was gonna be.”
Over the course of their relationship, many have jokingly wondered what the pair see in each other: Between Gwen’s high-fashion sophistication and Blake’s dressed-down, rural sensibilities, they don’t seem to have a whole lot in common off the bat. Their odd couple status was even the subject of a hilarious T Mobile Super Bowl ad earlier this year.
But in all seriousness, Gwen explains, it’s Blake’s authenticity that made her fall in love. She also thinks that’s why he’s such a big success, both in music and as a coach on The Voice.
“The successful people are the genuine people, because that man is the same guy you see, no matter who he’s with, what he’s doing,” Gwen reflects. “I look at him sleeping, and he’s the same guy.”
She adds, “He’s very real and consistent and genuine. It’s what is so attractive and why people love him so much.”
Blake and Gwen tied the knot on July 3 in a ceremony on Blake’s Oklahoma ranch.

Joni Mitchell, Bette Midler and Motown founder Berry Gordy are among the notables from the arts and entertainment world who will be saluted at the 44th edition of the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors gala. The star-studded ceremony will be held December 5 at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.
This year’s other Kennedy Center honorees are Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels and Puerto Rican opera singer Justino Díaz.
The awards are presented annually by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to people who have made lasting contributions to American culture through the performing arts.
A TV special documenting this year’s event will be broadcast during the 2021-2022 television season on CBS, and will be streamed live and on demand on Paramount+.
“I’m grateful to the Kennedy Center for bestowing this honor on my work and I look forward to being a part of this prestigious celebration of the arts,” Mitchell says in a statement. “I wish my mother and father were alive to see this. It’s a long way from Saskatoon [Canada].”
Midler gushes, “I am profoundly touched by this honor, in fact, I am stunned and grateful beyond words. For many years I have watched this broadcast celebrating the best talent in the performing arts that America has to offer, and I truly never imagined that I would find myself among these swans.”
Gordy declares in his own statement, “The Arts not only give voice to the voiceless, but connect us, transform us, and soothe our souls. The Kennedy Center Honors epitomizes the recognition and value of both the Arts, and the Artist. I am thrilled to become a part of this prestigious American legacy.”
Eric Clapton has threatened to cancel performances at U.K. venues that require audience members to be vaccinated to attend his concerts.
Clapton’s message, which was posted on the Telegram page of Robin Monotti, who identifies as a pro-vaccine-safety advocate, was in response to U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson‘s recent announcement that COVID-19 vaccine passes would be required to attend events at nightclubs and other venues.
“Following the PM’s announcement on Monday…I feel honour bound to make an announcement of my own,” Slowhand writes. “I will not perform on any stage where there is a discriminated audience present. Unless there is provision made for all people to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show.”
Accompanying the message is a link to Clapton’s rendition of the 2020 Van Morrison song “Stand and Deliver,” which criticizes the U.K. government’s pandemic-related restrictions on live performances.
In May, another message from Clapton was posted on Monotti’s Telegram page in which he revealed he experienced a severe reaction after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“[M]y hands and feet were either frozen, numb or burning, and pretty much useless for two weeks, I feared I would never play again,” Eric wrote. “[I] should never have gone near the needle.”
In a statement to Rolling Stone in May, a spokesperson for the U.K. government agency overseeing the vaccine maintained that “over 56 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 have now been administered in the UK, saving thousands of lives through the biggest vaccination programme that has ever taken place in this country.”
The rep added, “Our advice remains that the benefits of the COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca outweigh the risks in the majority of people.”
Clapton’s next U.K. concerts are scheduled for May 2022. He begins a run of U.S. dates in September 2021.
Back in the early 2000s, the idea would have been sheer lunacy, but now, Backstreet Boys say they’re open to doing a joint tour with *NSYNC one day.
Speaking to PEOPLE (The TV Show!), Backstreet’s Nick Carter said of the proposed pairing, “I think it would just be good for the nostalgic side of it, for the fans, if we did something like that.” AJ McLean chimed in, “The fans would lose their mind[s].”
Nick explains, “What’s happening now is that we are realizing that we’re the only ones that have gone through what we have together, and we relate to one another. It was a place in time, and our lives were very parallel. So, all this unity and coming together and all this love, it’s really cool.”
The comments come after AJ teamed with *NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Joey Fatone for a charity event last month, and after Joey, AJ and Nick — along with Boyz II Men‘s Wanya Morris — announced a four-night engagement in Las Vegas.
Around the time of the charity event last month, AJ told People that the two groups’ supposed “feud” had been “fabricated,” and added, “Just to be able to do something like this together hopefully squashes all that crap that was never true in the first place.”
As previously reported, Backstreet have scheduled a 12-night Very Backstreet Christmas Party residency show in Las Vegas later this year.
Kentucky rapper EST Gee is making headlines with his latest mixtape, Bigger Than Life or Death, which features Yo Gotti, Lil Durk, Future, Young Thug, and more.
Fans on social media are enjoying the 15-song project, including Gee’s previously released songs, “Lick Back,” Capital 1,” and the title track, “Bigger Than Life or Death.”
“Six songs deep in this new EST Gee and it ain’t got no skips,” tweeted one fan, while another said, “EST Gee is such a breath of fresh air. His sound is exactly what I’ve been wanting to hear.”
Some fans hinted that the Louisville rapper should have been placed on XXL‘s 2021 Freshman class list for emerging artists. Meanwhile, many were impressed with Gee’s track “5500 Degrees” with Rylo Rodriguez, 42 Dugg, and Lil Baby.
Baby closes out the track, whichflips Juvenile‘s 1998 Cash Money classic “400 Degreez,” by declaring himself the “Lil Wayne of this new generation.”
“I’m going too crazy I’m the Wayne of this new generation / [Rappers] fugazi, they can’t f*** with us no types of ways/ these [rappers] too lazy / I’m cut from a different cloth, I don’t know who raised em,'” Baby raps.
