David Coverdale, who found fame with Whitesnake and Deep Purple, has announced his retirement from music.

In a video posted to Whitesnake’s YouTube account, the 74-year-old rocker reveals that “after 50 years-plus of an incredible journey” he’s decided to call it quits.

“The last few years has been very evident to me that it’s time really for me to hang up my rock ‘n’ roll platform shoes and my skintight jeans,” he says in the video. “It’s time for me to call it a day.”

“I love you dearly. I thank everyone who’s assisted and supported me on this incredible journey — all the musicians, the crew, the fans, the family,” he adds. “It’s amazing, but it really is time for me to just enjoy my retirement.” He adds, “And I hope you can appreciate that. Once again, I love you with all my heart. Fare thee well.”

The clip ends with a montage of photos and video from Coverdale’s career with Whitesnake, set to the band’s song “Fare Thee Well,” which appeared on their 2011 album, Forevermore, which was reissued in September.

Coverdale had his biggest success in the ’80s, thanks to the Whitesnake songs “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love.” They released their last album, Flesh & Blood, in 2019.

Coverdale was also the frontman for Deep Purple from 1973 to 1976, and released the album Coverdale-Page in 1993 with Led Zeppelin‘s Jimmy Page. He also had a solo career, releasing his final solo album, Into The Light, in 2000.

Melissa Etheridge helped raise over $1 million for her Etheridge Foundation at the nonprofit’s inaugural Rock Jam fundraiser, which featured performances by Etheridge, co-host Hugh Jackman and country star Ashley McBryde.

The gala event took place Oct. 30 at VEA in Newport Beach, California, with the money funding research and development of plant-based and psychedelic medicines in the treatment of opioid use disorder.

“Raising a million dollars for our foundation’s work is just incredible,” said Etheridge, whose son Beckett died from OUD in 2020. “I want to thank everyone who stepped up to make it happen – the innovation needed in treating opioid use disorder has never been more important. This was an amazing night that I will never forget.”

Those in attendance were treated to Etheridge’s performances of “Come To My Window” and a new song, “Call You,” while Jackman, who stars with Kate Hudson as half of a Neil Diamond cover band in the upcoming movie Song Sung Blue, performed Diamond’s classic “Sweet Caroline.” Etheridge, Jackman and McBryde also performed “A Million Dreams,” from Jackman’s 2017 movie musical The Greatest Showman.

Sounds like we may be getting some new music from Peter Frampton soon.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s music update came courtesy of Sheryl Crow, who posted a photo of herself with Frampton in the studio on Instagram.

“Got to work with one of my heroes today,” she wrote in the caption. “Y’all better get ready… @mrpeterframpton played me a couple of new songs that will be out early next year… Mind Blown.”

And Frampton was appreciative of the compliment.

“Thank you Sheryl !! Great day having you sing with me on one of my new songs,” he commented on the post. “You sound so good, …as always.”

This isn’t the first time Crow and Frampton have worked together. Frampton came out to perform with Crow during her 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, something Frampton believes helped pave the way for his induction in 2024.

Old Dominion‘s one of the newest artists on the Nashville Walk of Fame, after Vince Gill presented the band with their star on Tuesday.

“This is such a humbling experience, especially for a bunch of guys that consider themselves underdogs,” lead singer Matthew Ramsey said at the ceremony. “We bled for this in a lot of ways. Not for recognition or awards but for songs and for each other. We had to believe when it felt like no one else did.”

“The thing about chasing this crazy kind of dream, the voice that’s telling you to believe in yourself can quickly turn on you,” he continued. “In these moments, if you don’t have people who believe for you, you’ll never make it. We have those people. Our families, our friends, our team, our fans. You can’t make a mark of this magnitude without the people who make a mark on you. Thank you for this amazing honor.”

OD is nominated for vocal group of the year for the 10th time at Wednesday’s 59th CMA Awards, where they’re also set to sing a medley of their hits.

Train‘s “Jupiter” is now Diamond.

While appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday, the band was surprised with a plaque marking the fact that their signature tune, “Drops of Jupiter,” has been RIAA certified for sales of 10 million units. It’s the band’s second Diamond single, following “Hey Soul Sister.” In 2026, the band will launch a summer tour marking the 25th anniversary of the song and its parent album of the same name.

In other Train news, back in 2023 there were reports that a musical version of the 2013 film Begin Again, which starred Maroon 5‘s Adam Levine, Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, was in the works, with songs written by Train singer Pat Monahan. The musical is now a reality: The show, featuring music and lyrics by Monahan, will open at The Old Globe theater in San Diego on Sept. 6, 2026, in what’s described as a “pre-Broadway run.”

Begin Again is about a struggling singer/songwriter, played by Knightley, who is discovered by a record executive, played by Ruffalo. They work together on an album, but things get complicated with her ex-boyfriend, a now-successful artist played by Levine.

The songs in the Begin Again movie were written by a collection of musicians, including Gregg Alexander of ’90s band New Radicals, best known for their hit “You Get What You Give.” The song they wrote for Adam to sing in the film, “Lost Stars,” was nominated for an Oscar.

Swayvo Twain opened up in an Instagram post Wednesday about losing his father, D’Angelo. He shared that his father’s death provided a lot a clarity, allowing him to approach the loss differently than he did when his mother, Angie Stone, died.

“Mom passed and left me with a lot of questions. After this funeral, I gained a lot of answers to things,” he said in an Instagram video.

He attributes the answered questions to the quality time he was able to spend with D’Angelo before he passed away.

“My dad, he came down to Atlanta. He spent three weeks with me. Anything we ever missed, any questions I ever had, anything I wanted to ask him about — anything — we just had every conversation,” Twain said in the video. “Every laugh and every moment, man. It really just cleared my spirit, man. That’s the time I needed him the most ever. He stood right there.”

While he admits he went into hiding after his mother passed away in March, he said his father’s death has left him motivated.

“Every time he popped his head out, he did his big one,” Twain said of D’Angelo. “So that’s what I’mma do.”

Twain’s post also featured parts of the eulogy he delivered at D’Angelo’s private memorial service.

“Knowing your father’s history and where he comes from,” he said in the clip. “Really getting an understanding for that s*** is, like, monumental.” In the caption, he thanked everyone for “all the love, support, and well wishes” they’ve been sending his way.

D’Angelo passed away Oct. 14 following a battle with cancer. Angie died March 1 following a car collision.
