Ronnie Wilson, a founding member of legendary funk and soul group The Gap Band has died. He was 73.

Ronnie’s wife, Linda Boulware-Wilson, confirmed his death on her Facebook page, saying in part, “Ronnie Wilson was a genius with creating, producing, and playing the flugelhorn, Trumpet, keyboards, and singing music, from childhood to his early seventies. He will be truly missed!”

According to TMZ, Wilson died on Tuesday after suffering a stroke.

Ronnie, along his brothers Charlie and Robert, formed The Gap Band in their Tulsa, Oklahoma, hometown in the 1970s. Their music, which was infused with funk and soul, help to inspire bands like Parliament-Funkadelic and Earth Wind & Fire.

The group enjoyed some early success in the late ’70s, but some of their most notable hits came during the early ’80s. In 1980 they released The Gap Band III, which produced such soul ballads as”Yearning for Your Love” and”Burn Rubber on Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me).” Then in 1982, with the release of The Gap Band IV — their sixth LP — they hit the R&B charts again with songs like “Early in the Morning,” “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” and “Outstanding.”

Although The Gap Band retired in 2010 after the passing of member Robert Wilson, their music has been sampled or covered by a wide range of R&B artists over the years, including Tyler, the Creator, Mary J. Blige, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Tina Turner. More recently, producer Mark Ronson sampled the song “I Don’t Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (Oops!)” for his smash 2014 collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk.”

Talk about girl power! Halle Berry just shared that the soundtrack for her upcoming Netflix film, Bruised, will be the first “all female” project.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday evening, Berry shared a screenshot of an interview she did with Variety regarding the effort, and wrote, “SURPRISE! Can’t wait for the world to finally experience my dream come true – the first all female Hip-hop project, the music of Bruised, featuring [Cardi B] [Saweetie] [H.E.R.] [City Girls] [Young M.A] [Flo Milli] [Latto] and more! [fire emoji] these ladies killed it! Project drops Nov. 19.”

“I can’t wait to show it,” the 55-year-old actress raved to Variety. “I have to tell you, one of the things I’m most excited about is the title song that H.E.R. sang… and she killed it,” Berry added. “So I can’t wait to share with everyone and am super excited.”

In addition to the A-list artists already mentioned in Berry’s social media post, the soundtrack, which was executive-produced by the actress and Cardi, also features appearances from Baby Tate, Dream Doll, Erica Banks, Rapsody, and Big Bottle Wyanna

The first single off the record will be from Yung Miami and JT, who make up the rap duo City Girls. It’s set to be released on Friday, November 5 and is featured during a “key sequence” of the film.

The full Bruised soundtrack will be available November 19, with the film hitting Netflix November 24.

Adele to record UK concert in front of “her own personal heroes and heroines”

Simon Emmett

Adele has already recorded her upcoming CBS TV special, and now she’s doing one for the folks back home.

An Audience with Adele will be recorded at London’s legendary Palladium and will air on Britain’s ITV and stream on its on on-demand ITV Hub on November 21. The show will feature Adele performing new songs from her upcoming album, 30 — due out November 19 — plus her “classic hits.”

What’s interesting about this particular concert is that the audience, according to ITV, will include Adele’s “own personal heroes and heroines, fellow musicians, artists, actors, sportsmen, sportswomen and more.”

Does that mean that Drake, Beyoncé, Nicole Richie, Jennifer Lawrence, Aaron Paul, James Corden and other celebrities with whom Adele is known to hang out might be in attendance?  Adele has also, in the past, spoken about her admiration for I Will Destroy You creator Michaela Cole, actor Jonathan Majors, and author Glennon Doyle.

Perhaps members of We Are Grenfell United, a charity devoted to demanding justice for the victims of the deadly 2017 Grenfell Tower fire in London, will attend as well.  Adele is devoted to the cause, because the fire happened just around the corner from where she used to live in London.

We’ll just have to wait for media reports of the show to leak.  Stay tuned.

Shakira details being “ambushed” by wild boars: “It’s just crazy”

Even Shakira admits she’s having a hard time comprehending how she was ambushed and mugged by wild boars.

Speaking to Glamour UK, the Colombian singer reflected on the bizarre September incident, saying she was walking in Barcelona, Spain, with her eight-year-old son, Milan, when two wild boars “attacked” her in broad daylight.

“It’s just crazy,” she remarked. “I was taking my son, Milan, for a walk in the park and I got him a little ice cream. We sat on one of those park benches and we were just minding our own business. And then two huge wild boars came from the back and ambushed [us] and took my purse!”

Shakira, 44, said she began screaming because her purse had “my phone in it, my car keys, everything!”

Thankfully, she recovered her bag and confessed that the animals may have been interested in scoring a free meal.

“They started digging inside my purse,” she recalled. “Obviously my son’s sandwich was inside the purse, so that’s why they were so interested. So they took the sandwich and walked away and left my purse. It was wild.”

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer first spoke about the strange incident via a string of Instagram stories and showed off her torn-up purse.

Apparently, Spain has been grappling with increasingly aggressive boars, meaning Shakira’s incident is not isolated. The BBC reports that in 2016, Spanish police received 1,187 phone calls about wild boars attacking dogs and running into traffic.

It’s estimated that over 10 million wild pigs live across Europe.  They’re listed as an invasive species.

Brothers Osborne step “into a new era” with their CMA-nominated ‘Skeletons’

EMI Records Nashville

One week from today, Brothers Osborne could add to their already impressive collection of CMA trophies, potentially claiming the prestigious Album of the Year award for Skeletons, which celebrated its first birthday last month.

The cover shows TJ and John walking through an enormous keyhole — an equally ominous piece of symbolism for the siblings.

“We didn’t want to be extremely on the nose with having a skull and bones on there or something, but we wanted a skeleton keyhole…” TJ explains. “For us, it’s really kind of symbolizing us kind of stepping out into a new era of Brothers Osborne.”

Skeletons builds on 2016’s Pawn Shop and 2018’s Port Saint Joe, without fundamentally altering the DNA of the duo.

“Obviously, with every record, you want to get, not only better, but you also just wanna be different than the record before,” TJ tells ABC Audio, “so you have something fresh, and it’s not the same thing over and over again, but at the same time, not lose that very thing that the fans love to begin with.”

Ultimately, it’s an evolution that leaves TJ and John right where they want to be.

“I think we’ve learned a lot about who we are between our first two records,” TJ reflects. “And it really allowed us to kinda be able to focus in on what Brothers Osborne is, and what people respond to.”

“And that hasn’t always been what we thought it would be sometimes,” he confesses. “And I think now that we’re here, I really feel like this is the version of us that our fans have grown to love over the years.”

The brothers are also up for Music Video for the non-album track, “Younger Me,” as well as Duo, which they’ve won three times before.

Machine Gun Kelly just wrapped up his Tickets to My Downfall tour over the weekend, but he’s already reminiscing.

In a tweet Tuesday, Kelly writes, “The best tour I’ve ever had is over and now I’m an emotional wreck.”

The tour, which concluded on Halloween night in Connecticut, featured Kelly playing nearly the entirety of Tickets, his 2020 Travis Barker-produced album that found the former rapper’s music transitioning to a pop-punk sound.

With many shows selling out, it’s easy to see why MGK would declare the tour to be his best. However, the run wasn’t without a few bumps in the road. During his set at Chicago’s Riot Fest, Kelly dissed beloved metal institution Slipknot as “old weird dudes with masks,” which led to the crowds at a subsequent rock festival to boo him.

Kelly is set to return to the live stage later this year for a homecoming Cleveland concert on December 18. He’s also working on a new album called Born with Horns, which will again be produced by Barker.

Lady Gaga had “psychological difficulty” leaving behind her ‘House of Gucci’ character

Steven Meisel/British ‘Vogue’

Lady Gaga throws herself 100% into everything she does, and her starring role in the upcoming movie House of Gucci is no exception.  Gaga tells British Vogue that while portraying Patrizia Reggiani — who was convicted of putting a hit on her ex, Maurizio Gucci — she went so deep into the character that she had a hard time coming back out again.

“I lived as [Reggiani] for a year and a half,” Gaga tells the magazine. “And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that…[even] off-camera. I never broke. I stayed with her.”

“It was nearly impossible for me to speak in the accent as a blonde,” she continues. “I instantly had to dye my hair, and I started to live in a way whereby anything that I looked at, anything that I touched, I started to take notice of where and when I could see money.”

However, Gaga admits, “I had some psychological difficulty at one point towards the end of filming. I was either in my hotel room, living and speaking as Reggiani, or I was on set, living and speaking as her. I remember I went out into Italy one day…to take a walk…and I panicked. I thought I was on a movie set.”

But throughout the experience, Gaga says, “Every minute of every day, I thought of my ancestors in Italy and what they had to do so that I could have a better life.”

She adds, “I just wanted to make them proud, which is why I made the decision to make the performance about a real woman and not about the idea of a bad woman.”

House of Gucci opens November 24.  Gaga’s cover story is on newsstands Friday.
