The track, titled “Won’t Stand Down,” mixes the U.K. trio’s typically operatic style with some of the heaviest guitar riffs of their career. You can download it now via digital outlets.
“‘Won’t Stand Down’ is a song about standing your ground against bullies, whether that be on the playground, at work or anywhere,” frontman Matt Bellamy says. “Protecting yourself from coercion and sociopathic manipulation and to face adversity with strength, confidence and aggression.”
The accompanying “Won’t Stand Down” video, which finds a frail, older Bellamy using a mysterious device to control his own army, is streaming now on YouTube.
“Won’t Stand Down” is the first new single from Muse to follow their 2018 album, Simulation Theory.

After the tragic news broke Sunday that Full House star and comedian Bob Saget had died, his friend John Mayer paid tribute to him Monday with an emotional post, and followed it up with another one on Tuesday. But on Wednesday, John did something that only a true friend would do: He went to the airport to retrieve Saget’s car.
In an Instagram Live video, John and comedian Jeff Ross, another friend of Saget’s, narrate their journey to LAX, where, Ross says, “We went to four floors, looking for it, trying to figure out where he parked and of course, he parked right by the entrance. He’s Bob Saget, he’s got rockstar parking.”
“This is the only time in my life I’ve been honored to help out a friend at LAX,” John laughed, revealing that they had to pay a $250 parking ticket to get the car. “The parking company was, let’s just say, unreceptive to the idea that we were helping out a friend who’s no longer with us,” he noted.
“They were like, ‘If it was [John] Stamos‘ car, we would let you go,'” Ross joked.
The two also became emotional as they remembered their friend, with John saying, “Bob’s effusive and repeated expression of love is the greatest gift that he left people, because…we don’t have to worry about the accounting. The affairs are in order, in terms of wondering, or not having to wonder, how Bob felt about us.”
“We are just a couple of stars in the galaxy of Bob Saget’s loved ones,” John added, saying that even though he’d known Saget for 15 years, he was still “the new guy.”
Both men urged fans to donate to the Scleroderma Research Foundation at srfcure.org in Saget’s memory. Saget lost his sister to the disease.
Rod Stewart‘s scheduled tour of Australia is the latest casualty of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
Sir Rod, who turned 77 on Monday, was to have performed nine shows Down Under in March and April, but now those shows have been canceled “due to the ongoing surge of COVID in Australia and the reimposition of indoor entertainment venue capacity limits,” reads a statement announcing the news.
Rod, meanwhile, said, “My dear friends, once again I feel we’ve all been cheated by this evil disease…My thoughts are with all your families at this difficult time as we come out of the joyous and hopefully safe holiday season and I look forward to returning to Australia as soon as the health situation permits.”
He added, “I’m absolutely gutted with disappointment and when I do eventually get there we‘ll have the party to end all parties. Guaranteed!” All ticketholders will get automatic refunds.
Billboard reports that the Australian state of Victoria has temporarily banned indoor dancefloors, while the state of New South Wales has instituted a “no singing, no dancing” policy in entertainment venues. Meanwhile, the state of Queensland recorded its largest number of COVID deaths in a single day on Thursday.
At the moment, Rod is still scheduled to perform two shows in Hollywood, FL on February 14 and 15, and to resume his residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in May.

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox are engaged and, of course, it was anything but traditional.
MGK, real name Colson Baker, revealed that the proposal went down on Tuesday “beneath the same branches we fell in love under.”
“‘Yes, in this life and every life’ beneath the same branches we fell in love under, i brought her back to ask her to marry me,” the rocker wrote along side a video showing off the stunning ring he proposed with on Megan’s hand.
“I know tradition is one ring, but i designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love,” he explained.
“In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree,” she began in the caption. “We asked for magic We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time. Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.”
“Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him,” the Jennifer’s Body star continued. “And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes.”
“…and then we drank each other’s blood,” she added. “1.11.22.”
Megan, 35, was previously married to Brian Austin Green, who she shares three children with. MGK, 31, has no prior marriages and has one daughter.
The former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman’s latest Vegas engagement at the venue is a six-date stand scheduled for February 23, 25 and 26, and March 2, 4 and 5.
Prior to the Sin City residency, Fogerty will play two shows later this month in Southern California — taking place January 21 in Valley Center and January 22 in Rancho Mirage.
The 76-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also has a one-off East Coast concert scheduled for April 14 in Red Bank, New Jersey.
In addition, in May, Fogerty will head to Los Cabos, Mexico, for the Roxfest Classic festival. The four-day event, scheduled for May 11-14, also will feature performances by Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, The Beach Boys and Heart‘s Ann Wilson. Visit MusicGetaways.com for more info.
Lastly, Fogerty has a brief European tour leg that runs from a June 3 concert in Kvaerndrup, Denmark, through a June 12 gig in Sankt Goarshausen, Germany.
Nita Strauss has accomplished a Billboard chart feat not seen in over three decades.
The guitarist, who plays in Alice Cooper‘s live band, has hit number one on the Mainstream Rock Airplay ranking with her solo single “Dead Inside,” making her the first female solo artist to conquer the tally in 32 years.
The last solo woman to lead Mainstream Rock Airplay was Alannah Myles, who reached number one with “Black Velvet” in 1990.
Strauss also hits number one with her first ever single to chart on Mainstream Rock Airplay. The last artist to do that was All Good Things with their song “For the Glory” last year.
“Dead Inside,” which was released this past October, features guest vocals by Disturbed frontman David Draiman. The track follows Strauss’ 2018 debut solo album, the instrumental Controlled Chaos.
Top Row: Katy Perry, Exec. producer Megan Michaels Wolflick; Middle Row: Ryan Seacrest, Luke Bryan; Bottom: Lionel Richie/ABC
American Idol kicks off its historic 20th season next month, but despite the fact that it’ll be introducing a few new elements, it’s going to keep the focus where it’s always been: on the singers themselves.
As judge Katy Perry told reporters at the annual Television Critics’ Association press tour Wednesday, “It’s about the contestants. It’s not really necessarily about us.”
“We are just, kind of, guiding them, and supporting them and giving them cues and all of this knowledge that we’ve been able to cultivate over the decades, and I think we really, really care because we’ve been in their shoes…we want to set them up for success,” she continued.
“It’s not really about anything besides us holding that lottery ticket that we want to give to them at the end of the season and create a real superstar, and our track record shows [that],” Katy noted. “I think it’s not really comparable to other singing…competitions because there’s not really anyone, like, let alone ten people…that have had successful careers [from those shows].”
As for those new elements, first, the show is bringing back its famous alumni to mentor this season’s contestants. The executive producer told reporters, “Lots of those familiar faces who America has kind of grown to love will be seen throughout this season.”
“I want to see every one of those contestants come back,” Ryan Seacrest added. “I want to see way back to the beginning.”
And then there’s the “Platinum Ticket,” which will be given to just a few contestants during auditions. Not only will those VIPs go straight to Hollywood Week, but they’ll get to observe the rest of the talent there and pick who they want to perform with.
American Idol returns February 27 on ABC with Katy, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

When Elton John‘s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour finally gets going again next week in New Orleans, you might find that the Rocket Man has added something unexpected to his show.
In the time since Elton’s tour was halted by the pandemic, he’s released The Lockdown Sessions, which features him collaborating with everyone from Stevie Wonder and Stevie Nicks to Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa. His duet with Dua, “Cold Heart,” recently became his first U.S. top 10 hit in 24 years.
Asked if any of those guest artists might show up to perform with Elton during the tour, his longtime guitarist and musical director Davey Johnstone hints at some sort of surprise.
“How can I put this? I can’t really tell you right now, but there might be something that will happen that is a bit different, that you wouldn’t expect,” Johnstone tells ABC Audio. “It’s not quite a guest, but almost…yeah, there might be something.”
Johnstone adds that Elton’s recent success on the charts has the pop-rock legend “thrilled,” and notes that it’s Elton’s manager and husband, David Furnish, who’s been able to “create a deeper kind of niche for themselves online with people that normally wouldn’t listen to Elton’s records.”
“They’ve targeted the online market and all the social platforms…that Elton wouldn’t do, ’cause he’s not technical at all,” notes Johnstone. “But Dave has done a brilliant job in sculpting and planning that whole thing for Elton.”
The tour starts January 19 in New Orleans, but Johnstone says he and the band are heading for the Big Easy on Friday to rehearse for a few days before Elton gets there.
“He hates to rehearse. He is very impatient. There’s no way he can do rehearsal,” Johnstone laughs. “He’s just, like, useless.”
FINNEAS has premiered the video for “The Kids Are All Dying,” a track off his new album, Optimist.
The clip finds Billie Eilish‘s brother and collaborator breaking into a jewelry store and robbing the place as his song’s lyrics ask “How can you sing about love when the kids are all dying?”
“Even if we are living through a time of chaos and uncertainty, the human experience is never going to exclude love, sex, fun, leisure, and adventure,” FINNEAS says in a statement. “If you’re in love, you’re going to write a love song. It’s how the brain works.”
You can watch “The Kids Are All Dying” video streaming now on YouTube.
FINNEAS released Optimist, his full-length debut album, last October. He’s nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys.
