SunFest is back after a two-year hiatus.  The music festival has unveiled its impressive lineup, which includes Adam LambertGoo Goo DollsBoys II MenMelissa EtheridgeAJR and many others taking the stage between April 28 and May 1 on the West Palm Beach waterfront.  Tickets are on sale on the SunFest website, where you can also check out the complete four-day lineup.

Speaking of AJR, the “Bang!” singers decided to sit down with their “Ordinaryish People” collaborators, Blue Man Group, for an impromptu interview.  But it becomes apparent BMG was forced into it after holding up signs that read “We’re here against our will,” “AJR made us to this video to promote their tour,” and “Please send help.”  BMG will appear on select dates during AJR’s OK Orchestra tour.

Rihanna‘s Fenty Beauty brand is coming to Ulta, the singer confirmed Thursday.  The singer shared a picture of her holding up the chain’s signature orange bag and revealed Fenty is officially part of the “fam.”  Previously, Fenty could only be purchased at Sephora or on the Fenty Beauty online store, so this means it’s even easier for fans to get their hands on Rihanna’s brand.

Andy Grammer shouted out one of his youngest fans, who is battling leukemia.  “EMMA! Reading about your story this morning made my heart explode! And to think you are DANCING through the struggles this world has sent you,” Andy wrote.  He also shared the message her mother sent that explained how Emma, who is nine, would dance to “Lease on Life” to help her through treatment, and added a video of Emma dancing with her nurses.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons are hitting the road once again for a tour of the U.S. and U.K.

The group, whose 1967 song “Beggin'” became a huge hit last year thanks to a cover by the Italian rock band Måneskin, will kick off the tour March 4 in Boston. They’ll be on the road through January of 2023, stopping for a run of dates in June in the U.K.

“I’m so excited to go back on the road,” says Valli, 87, in a statement. “I’ve missed performing for our wonderful fans.”

Old hits by The Four Seasons and Valli have been reintroduced to a whole new generation over the past two years. In addition to last year’s revival of “Beggin’,” 2020 saw Valli’s 1967 solo hit “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” reworked into two separate hits.

An artist called Surf Mesa‘s interpolated the song as “ily (i love you baby),” and made it a global smash. Meanwhile, a Spanish interpolation called “Te Quiero Baby (I Love You Baby)” by Chesca and Pitbull was a hit on the Latin charts.  Even pop superstar Shawn Mendes performed the song on BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge.

Meanwhile, another pop superstar, Nick Jonas, is playing Valli in a new streaming version of the musical Jersey Boys, though it’s not clear when and on which platform it’ll debut.

Last month, Dead & Company was forced to call off its two-weekend Playing in the Sand destination festival due the Omicron surge of COVID-19.  But the band’s Bob Weir is planning to hit the road next month with his other band, and tells USA Today that, “God willing,” Dead & Company will be on the road this summer.

Weir’s Wolf Bros, which Weir formed in 2018 with Don Was and Jay Lane, are scheduled to launch a 13-city tour March 9 in Nashville, TN.  “It’s looking like, knock on wood, the Omicron effect will be in the rearview mirror,” Weir tells USA Today. “Here’s hoping something else doesn’t pop up.”

If you can’t make the tour, Friday sees the release of the first-ever vinyl Wolf Bros LP, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros: Live in Colorado, recorded in June of 2021. Released on Third Man Records, it’s the first volume of a two-volume collection, due out later this year.

Asked to reflect on his musical legacy, Weir — whose resume also includes Ratdog and Furthur in addition to The Grateful Dead, Dead & Company and Wolf Bros — refuses to be pinned down to being famous for just one thing.

“There are great musical cultures and great music to be found. But there is nothing quite as magical as the American songbook. I spent 60 years or so delving as deep into it and as intently as I can,” he says. “I just love the stuff so much…be it country, blues, R&B…I try to play it all.”

Weir adds, “I guess in years to come, when people listen to me they’ll make note of the fact that he tried to play it all. We’ll see how successful people think I got.”

When an 11-year-old Brantley Gilbert fan named Alirix shared her story on social media of going through illness and a heart transplant, the country star knew he had to do something special for her.

It all started with a TikTok, where Alirix explained her heart transplant journey and said that her biggest wish was to meet her favorite musical artist.

“My dream has always been to meet you,” the young girl told Brantley on TikTok. “You helped me through my heart transplant, and I listened to you all the way through, and I hope I can meet you.”

The video went viral, racking up more than 139k views in less than a day — and among the many people to hear Alirix’s wish was the country star himself. He soon replied to his young fan, saying, “I got to say that I’m so humbled that you want to meet me. My wife makes the exact opposite wish a lot.”

He then added that he planned to let her pick a show to attend “anywhere, anytime,” but that he hoped to do something special for her on top of that.

Once they worked out the logistics, Brantley posted a video of himself and the young girl meeting for the first time, chatting and hanging out with Alirix and her parents backstage at a show.

“The hard days make ones like this that much sweeter,” Brantley wrote. “So glad I got to meet sweet Alirix and her family the other day at rehearsals.”

Many unseen photos of the late Joe Strummer — plus some well-known pictures, like the cover of his 1989 album, Earthquake Weather — have been compiled in a new book called Joe Strummer: Print the Myth.

The book is the work of photographer and creative director Josh Cheuse, who first met Strummer in 1981, when he called Electric Ladyland Studios from a payphone at his high school and asked The Clash if he could photograph them. Their creative partnership and friendship lasted until Strummer’s death in 2002.

In addition to photos of Strummer, the book includes sketches, handwritten notes and collages, as well as Cheuse’s personal stories about Strummer. Among the images included are a photo of The Clash performing in 1981 at Bond’s International Casino in New York, as well as a photo taken outside Buckingham Palace in 1988. You can see those images at RollingStone.com.

Men at Work frontman Colin Hay, who’s also a member of Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, has released a new track from his upcoming solo album Now and the Evermore.

The song “Love Is Everywhere,” and it comes with a trippy, partially animated video.  Even if you don’t like the song, you’ll want to watch the video for the adorable footage of different animal species expressing love for one another. C’mon, who doesn’t want to see a puppy snuggle with a rooster,  or a dog frolicking with a baby deer?

Speaking about the song, Hay says, “I think what this song is attempting to counter, by at least some measure, is the end result of the continued tragic global catastrophe of separation. The colossal calamity of believing yourself to be separate from everything and everybody else. Refusing to consider the possibility that we all are part of this planet’s structural fabric. Every day I feel love, and I’m happy that I do.”

Now and the Evermore, the title track of which features Ringo on drums, will be out March 18. Hay will launch a solo tour that same day that will keep him on the road through May 12.  Starting June 2 in Boston, he’ll join Ringo for the All Starr Band’s summer tour.

“Last Night Lonely”: Jon Pardi’s new drinking tune has a romantic twist

Capitol Records Nashville

A front-and-center fiddle line and a swagger-heavy danceable beat dominates Jon Pardi’s new single, “Last Night Lonely,” but there’s more romance in the honky tonk tune than first meets the eye.

In the chorus, Jon sings, “It’s gonna be the last night coming in here, drinkin’ all by yourself/The last time givin’ your heart away to someone else/Yeah, we could be some history in the making, girl/tonight might be your last night lonely.”

Jon’s new single arrives ahead of his as-yet-unannounced next album, which will be the follow-up to 2019’s Heartache Medication.

In an interview with Apple Music, the singer — who married his longtime love Summer in late 2020 — says he’s aiming to include more love songs on the project, but he tends to gravitate to party tunes or hard-drinking, tear-in-your-beer ballads.

“I’m trying to knock out a love song,” Jon says. “We got a great one, but it’s funny — me and [my wife] Summer, we’ll be like, ‘Yeah, let’s get some ‘drinking’ and ‘she’s leaving’ and we’re moving on’ songs.”

“I try to get a love song, but we love all the themes and emotions of songs,” he adds. “So we definitely got a lot of drinking songs.”

Jon’s most recent solo single “Tequila Little Time” was a top-five hit.

Dave Grohl may need to clear his schedule for a collaboration with yet another rock legend.

KISSPaul Stanley tells Consequence.net that he’d be interested in working with the Foo Fighters frontman.

“At some point, I’m sure we’ll do something,” Stanley says. “We’ll make some noise together. That’s what makes music so fun.”

The two did previously jam together at Grohl’s birthday party concert in 2015. Grohl, meanwhile, just released a cover of KISS’ “Rock and Roll All Nite” last year alongside producer Greg Kurstin for their Hanukkah Sessions series.

Previous Grohl collaborators include Mick Jagger, Paul McCartneyMotörhead‘s Lemmy and Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones.

Currently, Grohl is preparing for the premiere of the new Foo Fighters movie Studio 666, which hits theaters February 25. He’s also been working on recording a metal album under the moniker Dream Widow, a fictional band from the film.

Atlantic Records

Bring Me the Horizon and Ed Sheeran have premiered an official studio version of their joint rendition of “Bad Habits.”

The unlikely pairing first came together at the U.K.’s Brit Awards earlier this month, with BMTH putting a heavy spin on Sheeran’s single “Bad Habits.” The response was so strong that Sheeran and Horizon frontman Oli Sykes announced earlier this week that they’d be releasing a studio recording of the collaboration.

“From receiving the email asking whether we’d like to open the BRITS with Ed Sheeran to us chatting and bouncing ideas to rehearsing and then performing and now releasing, this has needless to say been pretty mental,” syskes says in a statement. “But we are all about pushing the boundaries of our own and other genres, so this felt like the perfect challenge.”

You can download the studio version of Bring Me the Sheerizon’s “Bad Habits” now via digital outlets.
