Dave Grohl made a surprise appearance during Paul McCartney‘s headlining set at the Glastonbury Festival over the weekend, marking the first time the Foo Fighters frontman has publicly performed since the death of his band mate Taylor Hawkins in March.

Grohl joined McCartney for renditions of the Beatles song “I Saw Her Standing There” and the Wings tune “Band on the Run.” He later returned to the stage with Bruce Springsteen for the set’s closing performance of The Beatles’ “The End.”

Shots from Grohl’s appearance show a giant letter T drawn on his hand, presumably in honor of Hawkins.

Hawkins passed away unexpectedly on March 25 in Bogotá, Colombia, ahead of a Foo Fighters show scheduled there for later that night. He was 50 years old.

Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters are holding a pair of tribute shows in honor of Hawkins September 3 in London and September 27 in Los Angeles. Among the many artists playing one or both of the all-star concerts include Nirvana‘s Krist Novoselic, Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones, Queens of the Stone Age‘s Josh Homme, Miley Cyrus, Queen‘s Brian May and Roger Taylor, Rush‘s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Joan Jett and KISSGene Simmons.

Billie Joe Armstrong has had enough of America.

Following the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade on Friday, the Green Day frontman said he’s ready to leave the country — and he didn’t mince words.

“F*** America,” Armstrong told the crowd at the Hella Mega tour stop in London over the weekend. “I’m f****** renouncing my citizenship. I’m f****** coming here.”

“There’s just too much f****** stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f****** excuse for a country,” he continued as the crowd at London Stadium cheered.

And lest you think it’s all talk, Armstrong assured the crowd he was “not kidding.”

“You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days,” he said.

Drake has earned his 11th number-one album on the Billboard 200 chart thanks to his latest record, Honestly, Nevermind.

The project, which arrived June 17 — just one day after he announced the album’s surprise release — debuts atop the Billboard 200 dated for July 2, making him the fifth artist to release more than 10 number-one albums, Billboard reports. Leading the pack with 19 #1s is The Beatles, followed by Jay-Z with 14, and Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand, tied with 11 each.

Billboard adds that Honestly, Nevermind “launches with 204,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 23, according to Luminate,” with streaming accounting for 94% of the album’s first-week totals.

The 14-track album boasts the fourth-largest streaming week for an album in 2022, Billboard further reports; Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar and Future make up the top three. The most on-demand official streams, in order, are “Jimmy Cooks,” “Falling Back,” and “Sticky,” with 39.59 million, 27.05 million, and 26.16 million streams, respectively.

Honestly, Nevermind is Drake’s seventh studio effort and the follow up to September 2021’s Certified Lover Boy. The new album was co-produced by Drake, his longtime collaborator Noah “40” Shebib, and his manager, Oliver El-Khatib, as well as Noel Cadastre and Black Coffee.

Doobie Brothers’ Pat Simmons discusses band’s “unique” new memoir he co-wrote with Tom Johnston
St. Martin’s Press

Doobie Brothers co-founders members Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston teamed up to write a new memoir about their famous band titled Long Train Runnin’: Our Story of The Doobie Brothers that’s available now.

Simmons tells ABC Audio that having the book co-written by him and Tom gives fans the chance to learn about the band’s history from the different perspectives of two guys who were there from the beginning.

“[I]t was kind of unique, because it’s both Tom and myself telling a story,” Simmons notes. “[I think that’s] a little bit better all the way around, since…it’s hard to remember…what was going on through the years. And it was nice to kind of reflect on aspects that somebody else might have seen a little differently from your own [recollection].”

Simmons says parts of the book that he thinks fans will find particularly interesting include how the band came together, details about how The Doobies made their records, and the successful period in the group’s history when Michael McDonald became the frontman at a time that Johnston was experiencing serious health issues.

Regarding the making of The Doobies’ music, Simmons notes, “[H]ow we put those songs together, how we wrote them, how we built them is kind of an interesting aspect that…I thought…was kind of unique in terms of the wide variety of ways that we approached songwriting and how songs were created.”

As for McDonald joining the band and the resulting change in the sound of the group’s music, Pat says, “[I]t was an arduous process. And it worked out, luckily.”

Long Train Runnin’ also features commentary from various other Doobie Brothers members, alums and associates, including McDonald, former bassist Tiran Porter, longtime multi-instrumentalist John McFee and producer Ted Templeman.

Over the weekend, Olivia Rodrigo performed at the U.K.’s prestigious Glastonbury festival and used her time on stage to denounce the Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday that overturned Roe v. Wade.  Meanwhile other stars continued to weigh in on Twitter and pledge to take action.

The British paper The Guardian reports that on Saturday, Olivia told the crowd, “I’m devastated and terrified. So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this.”

She continued, “I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a s*** about freedom. The song is for the justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you! We hate you.”

She then brought out guest star Lily Allen to perform Allen’s song “F**k You,” whose lyrics go, “Your point of view is medieval/F**k you, f**k you very, very much/’Cause we hate what you do.”

Meanwhile, Harry Styles took to Twitter to write, “I’m absolutely devastated for the people of America today. Check on your friends. Look after each other. We’re all in this together, and the fight is just beginning. A truly dark day for America.”

Mariah Carey wrote, “It is truly unfathomable and disheartening to have to try to explain to my 11 year old daughter why we live in a world where women’s rights are disintegrating in front of our eyes.”

And Lizzo announced that she was pledging $500,000 from her upcoming tour to Planned Parenthood, and that concert promoter Live Nation agreed to the match the donation for a total of $1 million.

Motionless in White takes ’80s detour with “favorite song” off new ‘Scoring the End of the World’ album

Motionless in White takes ’80s detour with “favorite song” off new ‘Scoring the End of the World’ album
Motionless in White takes ’80s detour with “favorite song” off new ‘Scoring the End of the World’ album
Roadrunner Records

As you can probably guess by its title, Motionless in White‘s new album, Scoring the End of the World, deals with a lot of contemporary themes. But the record takes a quick detour into the ’80s with the song “Werewolf.”

In the song, frontman Chris “Motionless” Cerulli makes a references to the 1984 Rockwell hit “Somebody’s Watching Me,” singing along to its immediately recognizable chorus, which featured vocals from Michael Jackson. Overall, though, “Werewolf” was mainly inspired by the King of Pop’s classic single “Thriller.”

“We felt like we wanted to have our iconic song, our theatrical moment,” Cerulli says of his band’s approach to “Werewolf.” “We’ve never fully embraced it at that level before.”

He adds, “Whether people love it our hate it, we love it because we made that venture into that world.”

Along with the retro influence of MJ and Rockwell, Cerulli wanted “Werewolf” to still feel modern, which Motionless brought in thanks to some inspiration from Muse.

“It felt so cool to explore that side of stuff for us and have it go so well that everybody’s favorite song in the band is ‘Werewolf,'” Cerulli says.

Of course, part of what made “Thriller” so iconic was its legendary video, and Cerulli hopes that “Werewolf” will get a fitting visual, as well.

“I feel like it needs a video that’s, like, a modern-day ‘Thriller,'” Cerulli says. “Something that feels fun, spooky, feels like Motionless, but has a little bit of a serious thing on the side.”

Scoring the End of the World is out now. It also includes the single “Masterpiece.”

After SeanDiddy” Combs delivered a show-stopping performance of some of his greatest hits at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday, he accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by legendary producer Babyface and the night’s special guest, Kanye West

Ye’s entrance onto the stage of “culture’s biggest night” shocked the crowd, as he walked out sporting his famous face mask, which covered his mouth for the duration of the moving speech to his “favorite artist,” Diddy.

“How do we crown our kings? How do we appreciate our kings?,” Ye began. “To think how far we could just make if off of inspiration, to hear the way somebody chopped a sample in. Me and [friend] rushin’ to see who could get the Bad Boy mixtape and play back the original version of “Benjamins,” over and over, thinkin’ I was one of the Hit Men.”

“I was signed to Puff without him knowing,” he joked before adding, “That statement is not legally binding!”

Ye went on for a few minutes, reminiscing on his early music years inspired by Puff and reiterating the his admiration for the 52-year-old music mogul.

“Puff if I never told you, I love you. You my brother.”

Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim, Bryson Tiller, Faith Evans and others, made cameos in the elaborate tribute performance that spanned Diddy’s career. It also featured a moving tribute to Kim Porter, Diddy’s former partner who died in 2018.

“Stay connected to God, and he’ll bring you out,” he said. “I just want to say thank you to Kim.”

Diddy wrapped his speech by recalling a “dream” he says, of Black people “being free” and “controlling our own destiny.” He then pledged $1 million to Howard University, his alma mater.
