The Offspring is “doing OK” after being involved in a fiery car accident over the weekend while touring in Canada.

According to a tweet from the “Self Esteem” rockers, they were on the road when “something flew off the vehicle in front of us and became wedged underneath one of our SUVs and it caught fire.”

The band notes that “everyone got out safely,” however, “pretty much everything else was destroyed,” including luggage, passports and laptops.

Ever the professionals, The Offspring still made it to their scheduled gig Saturday in Quebec.

The Offspring is touring in continued support of the band’s new album, Let the Bad Times Roll, which was released in 2021.

Kanye West has responded to news of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson‘s reported break-up as, well, one might expect him to.

The recording artist posted to Instagram a realistic-looking mock-up of The New York Times with the headline “Skete Davidson Dead At 28.”

A subheadline reads, “Kid Cudi meant to play funeral, but fearful of bottle throwers,” a reference to the artist who replaced Ye at the Rolling Loud festival two weeks ago. Fans tossing water bottles at Cudi led him to walk off the stage.

The post generated more than 1.4 million likes in a matter of hours — and more than a few disapproving comments.

“God step in,” one follower pleaded.

“Petty,” noted another.

That said, Ye had his share of supporters: “Skete is a clown,” one opined, adding the clown face emoji for good measure.

“Ye back!” another posted.

Britney Spears has responded to Kevin Federline’s claims about their kids.

In an upcoming interview with ITV News, the pop star’s ex-husband said that their sons, 16-year-old Sean Preston and 15-year-old Jayden James, “have decided they are not seeing her right now,” the Daily Mail reported on Saturday. It’s reportedly due to their mother’s social media posts, which sometimes includes censored nudity.

Britney fired back on Instagram, writing in her Stories, “It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children.”

“Raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone…It concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram…it was LONG before Instagram,” she continued.

“I gave them everything,” the pop star went on. “Only one word: HURTFUL…I’ll say it…My mother told me ‘You should GIVE them to their dad’…I’m sharing this because I can…Have a good day folks !!!”

In another Instagram post, Britney added, “The conservatorship has only been over for 8 months…I’m only human and I’ve done my best…I honestly would like to share my TWO CENTS!!!!…Other artists have made much worse when their children were extremely young.”

“During my conservatorship I was controlled and monitored for nearly 15 years…I should embark on doing WAAAY more than going topless on the beach like a baby,” she continued, adding that she’s not surprised by Kevin’s actions.

“I’m not surprised that just as my family did their share of interviews, they will too,” Britney wrote. “I’m not surprised at all with their behavior and their approach to what I’ve had to deal with !!!”

ABC

If you’ve ever wondered what goes in to making a music video for a big country single, you’re in luck: Carrie Underwood is giving fans the inside scoop on filming the video for her new single, “Ghost Story.”

The behind-the-scenes clip introduces fans to the ornate, historic Los Angeles theater where it was filmed, with the singer describing how it’s the perfect setting to capture all the drama of the song.

“The vibe of the ‘Ghost Story’ video is just very cinematic, and the stage is just absolutely incredible. The backdrop, it’s like you’re in a dream,” Carrie says. “It’s just very beautiful, and a lot of stuff that we’re doing is being shot at super high speed and then we’ll slow it down, so it’ll be all wispy-looking and dreamlike.”

Carrie introduces fans to her video director and shares a glimpse into how some of the shots were created, such as one scene where she’s walking up a staircase wearing a flowing, textured red cape.

“My favorite part of filming the ‘Ghost Story’ video was probably just getting to try new things,” she continues. “I want things to look different, to feel different, to be different than anything I’ve ever done before.”

“Ghost Story” is the lead single off Carrie’s latest album, Denim & Rhinestones. This fall, she’ll take her new batch of music out on the road for the Denim & Rhinestones Tour.

Per Ole Hagen/Redferns

After canceling the last 11 dates of their 2022 European summer trek due to health problems affecting various band members, Whitesnake has now canceled the entire 2022 North American leg of its Farewell Tour because frontman David Coverdale continues to battle ongoing respiratory issues.

Most of the dates on the veteran hard rockers’ upcoming trek were to have featured them opening for The Scorpions, while a few of the shows were headlining gigs. The tour had been plotted out from an August 17 concert in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, through an October 21 performance in Las Vegas.

“It is with profound disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to join The Scorpions on their US and Canadian tour due to my continued treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection that affects my ability to perform,” Coverdale explains in an official announcement. “This includes the cancellation of our own headlining shows as well.”

He adds, “While Whitesnake will no longer be on the tour, the Scorpions will be continuing on. We Wish Our Good Friends, The Scorpions Every Success!!! We Wish You Well.”

Coverdale also has posted a separate personal statement about the tour cancellation on Whitesnake’s social media sites.

“My sincere apologies to my incredible Whitesnake band members…I couldn’t wish for a more amazing, exciting, inspiring & thrilling band,” the 70-year-old singer writes. “Also our wonderful Whitesnake Crew of 2022…Our dear friends, The Scorpions…All the agents & promoters…& of course to YOU our truly awesome fans…I am deeply & profoundly sad to be unable to tour.”

OneRepublic credit Tom Cruise for inspiring their hit “I Ain’t Worried”

OneRepublic‘s “I Ain’t Worried” features in Tom Cruise‘s new movie, Top Gun: Maverick, and the hitmakers credit the actor for inspiring the hit single.

Speaking with Billboard, frontman Ryan Tedder recalled being shown a rough cut of the film’s dogfight football scene and Cruise asking him, “What do you hear?”

“I said, ‘I hear a little Beach Boys Gorillaz … and this kind of whistle thing,'” he recounted — and got to work on packaging a song around the whistle note with bandmate Brent Kutzle.

That song proved to be a hit. Not only does it feature in the new Top Gun movie, it is climbing up the Billboard charts.  The song received an even bigger boost thanks to the powers of TikTok, with the birth of the “Rooster wiggle.”

The trend pokes fun at a scene in the movie where Miles Teller‘s character wiggles shirtless on the beach as “I Ain’t Worried” is playing.

“Rooster wiggle” has now become a top tag, earning over 1.5 billion views on TikTok, which has been a boon for “I Ain’t Worried.”

But, had Tom Cruise not asked Tedder to really listen to the sounds going on in that dogfight football scene, we never would have had that awesome song.

“The beauty of it was that I wasn’t trying to write some huge global record — it’s not following any pop math,” he recalled. “It wasn’t written to sound obvious.”

So, after creating the song, he approached Cruise to ask him what he thought about “I Ain’t Worried.”  The award-winning actor apparently told him, “I think it’s a bull’s-eye.”

Goldfinger comes “full circle” with Avril Lavigne, Travis Barker & more with rerecorded versions of classic songs

Big Noise

John Feldmann is following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift with Goldfinger‘s latest release.

The long-running ska-punk outfit has debuted rerecorded versions of the songs “99 Red Balloons,” “Superman” and “Here in Your Bedroom.” As Feldmann tells ABC Audio, he jumped at the chance to put a new coat a paint on the tracks, especially after a clause in his original record deal preventing him from making rerecords expired.

“As I get on with my life, I just wanna own my masters,” Feldmann laughs. “I just love these songs so much.”

The project also allowed Feldmann to work with frequent collaborator Travis Barker, who plays drums on all three rerecords. Along with the Blink-182 drummer, Avril Lavigne and Biffy Clyro‘s Simon Neil guest on the new versions of “Here in Your Bedroom” and “Superman,” respectively.

On “Here in Your Bedroom,” not only does Lavigne give the song an alternate perspective by singing the second verse, but it also represents a “full-circle” moment for the Queen of Pop-Punk.

“[Lavigne] said that the first time she ever stage dove was at a Goldfinger show when she was like 15 or 16,” Feldmann shares. “Like, we’re playing Toronto, Avril Lavigne is a kid [and] is stage diving at one of our shows, and now she’s singing on a song that I wrote when I was 25. It’s pretty awesome.”

Meanwhile, Neil listened to “Superman” while playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater as a kid, as many others did.

“[Neil] was, like, ‘Dude, I grew up on that song, it changed my life, so I’d love to be part of it,'” Feldmann recalls. “So having Simon was incredible.”

The rerecords are included on the new, deluxe version of Goldfinger’s 2020 album Never Look Back, out now.
